OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: THURSDAY,APRIL 12 2018- AND YE SHALL BE MY WITNESSES

Memorise: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8
Read: Jonah 3:1-10
1 Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time:
2 “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.”
3 Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it. 4 Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.”
5 The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.
6 When Jonah’s warning reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.
7 This is the proclamation he issued in Nineveh: “By the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let people or animals, herds or flocks, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink. 8 But let people and animals be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence.
9 Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.”
10 When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened.

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

.

1. The Lord’s decision to make us His witnesses is a divine set up for blessings, just like when He asks us to give Him, in spite of the fact that He owns everything (Psalm 50:9-11). In the same vein, the Lord does not need our publicity, just as the sun does not need to be announced. When the sun rises in the east, it is seen as far away as the west, and we know Jesus is the Sun of Righteousness (Malachi 4:2).
2. It is an honour to be a witness of the Sun of Righteousness, because by virtue of this status, the world will see the grace of God upon our lives.
3. When Elisha agreed to abandon his farming business to become Yahweh’s prophet, little did he know that the king would later refer to him as “my father” (I Kings 19:21, 2 Kings 13:14).
4. What are the characteristics and responsibilities of Christ’s witnesses? The Lord hints us on some of these in Mark 16:15-18: “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
5. The primary character of the Lord’s witnesses is that they follow Him sincerely, and their primary responsibility is preaching the gospel. This responsibility is even more serious than what was committed to Jonah, because a very high price has now been paid for the redemption of mankind, which must not be allowed to go to waste.
6. Another responsibility is to cast out devils. If we will take territories for the kingdom of our God, we must be ready to cast out demons that currently reign over such territories.
7. Speaking in tongues enables every witness of Jesus Christ to be an effective mouthpiece of God with man and mouthpiece of man with God in place of intercessory prayer.
8. Taking up serpents as referenced in Mark 16:18 could mean dealing with serpents that come in human clothing, deceiving people just like the old serpent did. The Lord’s witnesses must challenge such lies with the Master’s true message.
9. When we do all these as witnesses of Jesus, souls shall be rescued from eternal damnation. This is our joy and goal.
10. Are you an effective witness of Jesus?

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

The ministry of reconciliation has been left in our care and we should not abandon I f any reason whatsoever. We were saved and groomed so that we can also save others and groom them in the things of God. Witnessing Christ and his love has become very difficult for many due to fear, ignorance or. Selfishness. There is a purpose for our being and thi must be fulfilled by us. God will rekindle the fire within us for us to carry out our mission as His true ambassadors in Jesus name. We are daily refreshed as we study the Open Heavens devotional. May God continually uphold and increase Pastor E.A Adeboye on every side in Jesus name.

Prayer Point:
Father, please make me an effective witness of Your Son from now onward in Jesus’ Name
HYMN

Angels with rapture announce it,
Shepherds with wonder receive it;
Sinner, oh, won’t you believe it?
Wonderful story of love.
Chorus:
Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful, wonderful story of love.
2. Wonderful story of love;
Though you are far away;
Wonderful story of love;
Still He doth call today;
Calling from Calvary’s mountain,
Down from the crystal-bright fountain,
E’en from the dawn of creation,
Wonderful story of love.
3. Wonderful story of love
Jesus provides a rest;
Wonderful story of love;
For all the pure and blest,
Rest in those mansions above us, with those who’ve gone on before us,
Singing the rapturous chorus,
Wonderful story of love.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: WEDNESDAY,APRIL 11 2018- OVERCOMING MOUNTAINS

Memorise: Who art thou, o great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and the shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. Zechariah 4:7
Read: Matthew 21: 19-22
19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.
20 When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked.
21 Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
Bible in one year: Joshua 18 – 19, 2 Thessalonians 1 – 2

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. There are several ways of dealing with mountains , and today we will be considering seven of these.
2. The first option we will consider is to turn back. You can say you will no longer move forward. This was the negative attitude of the children of Israel in Numbers 14:1-4.
3. The second way is to walk around the mountain, thereby wasting time and effort. For those who are born of God, going round a mountain is not an option. Our Father’s desire for us is to always move forward, in spite of what lies ahead of us. This is why He commanded Moses to charge the children of Israel to move forward, in spite of the Red Sea in front of them (Exodus 14:15). You will move forward today in Jesus’ Name.
4. The third way of dealing with mountains is to climb them. This may require a lot of effort but it is still better than going round in circles, and it is far better than going back.
5. The fourth way you can deal with a mountain is to bore through the mountain or dig a tunnel through it. When Moses lifted up his hands before the Red Sea, God caused the east wind to blow all through the night, and this created a way in the sea for the children of Israel to pass through (Exodus 14:21). Just as the east wind blew to create a road for the children of Israel through the sea, creating a tunnel through a mountain will require the assistance of the Holy Spirit.
6. The fifth way to deal with a mountain is to blast it out of the way. In Joshua 6:20, when the children of Israel came face-to-face with the wall of Jericho, the Lord instructed them to shout. They did, and not only did the wall fall, it was shattered and reduced to nothing. Indeed, God sent dynamite from heaven to blast the whole wall down.
7. The sixth way we can deal with mountains is to relocate them. In Mark 11:22-23, the Lord says that if you have faith in God, you can command a mountain to change its position or get out of your way, and it will obey you.
8. The seventh way of dealing with mountains is to fly over them. In this scenario, although is still there, you don’t want to turn back, neither do you want to walk around it, struggle to climb it or dig through it. Maybe you don’t want to blast it because you want to use it as a reference point in future, and you don’t even want to bother relocating it; all you want to do is to fly over it.
9. According to Isaiah 40:31, he condition you need to fulfill for you to experience this great feat is to wait upon the Lord.
10. Are you ready to wait upon the Lord? The good news is that this is the easiest way for you to deal with mountains, and it is at your disposal if only you can wait upon the Lord.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

Whoever allows God to reign in his or her life will be a victor on every side. May victory be ours in Jesus name. May God bless and uphold Pastor E.A Adeboye in Jesus name.

Action Point:
To deal with any moutain before you, consider the seven ways of dealing with mountains we have discussed: choose an effective method from them and do what is required of you.
HYMN
MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE
1. My faith look up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!
2. May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh. May my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire!
3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.
4. When ends life’s transient dream,
When death’s cold, sullen stream shall o’er me roll;
Blest Savior, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
Oh, bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul!

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: TUESDAY, APRIL 10 2018- THE BENEFITS OF MOUNTAINS

Memorise: Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: Isaiah 40:4
Read: Acts 8:1-8
1 And Saul approved of their killing him. ‎The Church Persecuted and Scattered
On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.
2 Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him.
3 But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison.‎
4 Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went.
5 Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there.
6 When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said.
7 For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. 8 So there was great joy in that city.
Bible in one year: Joshua 15 – 17, I Thessalonians

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. Whenever we talk about mountains, the first thing that comes to mind is a big problem.
2. Do you realise that mountains can be God’s own way of advertising you? For example, the people of Israel didn’t know who David was until Goliath came on the scene and propelled him into limelight.
3. Mountains, in the form of a big problem, can also be God’s own way of asking you to come closer to Him.  A good example of this is found in Acts 12.  When king Herod killed James, the Church didn’t do anything about it, but when he grabbed Peter, the Church suddenly realised that if they did not do something about the opposition from the powers that be, they would all be dead soon. As a result, they prayed to God without ceasing until He did something about the situation (Acts 12:5).
4. A mountain can help you discover your potential. You may never discover your calling or the substance of your character until you are faced with big problems.
5. Phillip didn’t know he was to be an evangelist; he thought he was doing just fine as a deacon. However, he discovered his calling as an evangelist after the devil moved Saul of Tarsus to begin to throw Christians into prison and his friend, Stephen, was killed.  He fled to Samaria where he served as an evangelist, and he brought great joy to the whole city.
6. You may never know what is in you until you come face to face with a big problem.
7. The most important thing about mountains is that the size of your mountain determines the size of your destiny: the bigger the mountain, the bigger your destiny.
8. Whenever the annual convention of our church is very close, our parishes send volunteers to clean up the Redemption Camp.  One day, I was going round inspecting different parts of the cam from morning till evening.  When it was evening, I was very tired and so I called my family together for prayer so that i could retire to bed.  I prayed a very short prayer, went to bed and fell asleep immediately.  As soon as I fell asleep, my wife came and woke me up. I said to her, ‘Oh woman, leave me alone; I’m tired!” She replied, “one of the volunteers that came from your village is dead!” Hearing this, all my tiredness disappeared and I got up in a hurry. I quickly gathered the prayer warriors for a serious prayer session. After about an hour God said to me, “I thought you said you were tired?” He then instructed me to dismiss the prayer warriors, because I was the one He wanted to speak with.  I released the prayer warriors and continued to pray.  As I prayed, the one who was dead came back to life.  Hallelujah!
9. Your mountains will bring you to great destiny, in Jesus’ name.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

Glory to God for another dimension of insight to mountains from today’s devotional. No wonder Apostles like Paul always rejoice in confrontation of situations that seems like mountains because of the confidence and assurance of victory. Jesus gave His troubled disciples assurance “But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake. But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony. Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But not a hair of your head shall be lost.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:12-18‬. May God bless and strengthen Pastor E.A Adeboye in Jesus name.

Prayer Point
Father, please turn the mountains confronting me into stepping stones to my promotion today.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: MONDAY,APRIL 9 2018- WONDERS OF DIVINE BLESSING IV

Memorise: Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Psalm 32:1
Read: Luke 7:37-48
37 A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume.
38 As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”
40 Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “Tell me, teacher,” he said.
41 “Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii,[a] and the other fifty. 42 Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”
43 Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.” “You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.
44 Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47 Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”
48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
Bible in one year: Joshua 12 – 14, Thessalonians 4

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. The greatest of all wonders of divine blessings comes from the blessing of salvation. What does it means to be saved? How can one be saved? What are the blessings that accrue from salvation? All these are pertinent questions that we will be considering today. To be saved is to escape eternal damnation which comes as a result of sin. The Righteous God of heaven has declared every man born of a woman guilty of sin. He made His verdict known in Romans 3:23 which says ‘For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
2. Not only has mankind been declared guilty of sin, the punishment that awaits him due to this verdict has also been revealed in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful , and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
3. To be delivered from this declared eternal damnation is nothing short of a wonder of divine blessings. Luke 7:37-48 tells the story of the wonder of divine blessings in the life of a forgiven sinner. A woman considered to be a sinner came to acknowledge the saving grace of Jesus Christ, and she did all she could humanly do to express her gratitude to the Saviour of the world, who came to pay the supreme price. The Pharisees were full of indignation because of the act of woman.
4. They could not understand what it means to be forgiven or what it means to escape eternal damnation. They could not see through what prompted David to pen Psalm 32. The Lord Jesus Christ tried to open their blind eyes of understanding by giving a voice to the actions of this woman. Luke 7:47 says,
“Wherefore I say unto thee, her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.”
5. Beloved, if you desire the wonders of divine blessings, the most profound of them all comes through the blessing of forgiveness. When you give your life to Christ, what the Lord said to the woman in today’s Bible reading, He will say to you: “thy sins are forgiven”. Luke 7:48b Whoever wants to enjoy the wonders of divine blessings that last forever, must plug himself or herself into the blessedness of forgiveness through Jesus Christ our Lord.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

The bible talks about the blessing of the Lord in the book of Proverb 10:22 “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. The greatest desire of every believer should always be the divine blessing from above because that is the only blessing that guarantee success without struggle. God be praised for His abundance Grace over Pastor E.A Adeboye.

Prayer Point
Father, I thank You for the forgiveness I received when I confessed my sins and gave my life to Your Son, Jesus Christ. Please don’t let me be like a dog that returns to its vomit.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: SUNDAY,APRIL 8 2018- WONDERS OF DIVINE BLESSING III

Memorise: Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. Jeremiah 33:6
Read: 2 Kings 20:1-11
1 In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”
2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
4 Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him:
5 “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord.
6 I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’”
7 Then Isaiah said, “Prepare a poultice of figs.” They did so and applied it to the boil, and he recovered.
8 Hezekiah had asked Isaiah, “What will be the sign that the Lord will heal me and that I will go up to the temple of the Lord on the third day from now?”
9 Isaiah answered, “This is the Lord’s sign to you that the Lord will do what he has promised: Shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or shall it go back ten steps?”
10 “It is a simple matter for the shadow to go forward ten steps,” said Hezekiah. “Rather, have it go back ten steps.”
11 Then the prophet Isaiah called on the Lord, and the Lord made the shadow go back the ten steps it had gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

.

1. Living a healthy life that does not require the attention of physicians is one of the wonders of divine blessings.
2. Although it is commonly said that health is wealth, I am of the opinion that health is much more than wealth because a sickness can drain the entire wealth of a person and lead to penury within six months. I pray that no sickness, big or small, will plague your life or home in Jesus’ name.
3. A wealthy person who is equally healthy is very wealthy. For such fellow, we can say that his or her cup is running over (Psalm 23:5).
4. I have often said that while it is a good thing to be healed, to remain healthy is much more wonderful, but beyond these, you are super wealthy when incurable diseases are being brought to you and by the mere laying of your hands on the sick, they get healed. A person walking in this realm is extraordinary blessed.
5. So, what happens when someone is extraordinarily blessed? Not only will the forces of heaven and earth combine to support such a fellow, he or she will also command these forces to favour those whom he or she wants to be a blessing to.
6. Because, I am enjoying the wonders of divine blessings by the grace of God, I decree over your life today: let the forces of heaven and earth begin to cooperate in support of that venture you have embarked upon in Jesus’ name.
7. In 2 Kings 20:1-11, Hezekiah was sick and God said he was going to die, but he cried to God that he did not want to die, yet, and God granted his request. The Lord prolonged his life with fifteen more years. In other words, he was healed and became wealthy in health.
8. God also caused the shadow of the sun to return backwards by ten degrees as a sign to indicate this wonder. In other words, the sun cooperated with Prophet Isaiah when he decreed that it should go backward to bring to pass the wonder of recapturing fifteen years already spent by Hezekiah. This is an even greater feat than when Joshua commanded the sun and the moon to stand still (Joshua 10:13).
9. In Genesis 27:1-4, Isaac told Esau to prepare his favourite meal so that his soul might bless him. This shows that divine blessings are provoked.
10. You must do something to attract them into your life. In Malachi 3:10, God said “Bring all the tithes into My house, and I will replace every curse with a blessing.” Elisha had the opportunity of asking Elijah what he wanted because he had been a faithful servant to him.
11. Anyone who wants to be blessed by God and is willing to pay the price would surely be blessed.
12. If you are a sinner, what God requires from you is to give your life to Christ.
13. If you are a child of God, search the scriptures and you will discover that those who were divinely blessed were ardent worshippers and generous givers.
14. Go ahead and follow their examples.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

All we require to know as regard living in abundant blessing is dished out to us in today’s devotional. Let us carry out this instructions faithfully and watch our lives take a new turn of an extra ordinary level of blessings. May God continually uphold and increase Pastor E.A Adeboye on every side in Jesus name.

Prayer Point:
Father, please give me the heart of a worshipper and make me a generous giver in Jesus Name.
Hymn
The Great Physician now is near,
The sympathizing Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus!
Chorus:
Sweetest note in seraph song;
Sweetest name on mortal tongue;
Sweetest carol ever sung:
Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Your many sins are all forgv’n
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus;
The veil ‘twixt you and God is riven,
Redemption wrought by Jesus.
All glory to the dying Lamb!
I now believe in Jesus;
I love the blessed Saviour’s name,
I love the name of Jesus.
His name dispels my guilt and fear,
No other name but Jesus;
Oh, how my soul delight to hear
The precious name of Jesus!

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: SATURDAY,APRIL 7 2018- WONDERS OF DIVINE BLESSING II

Memorise: Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Psalm 23:5
Read: I Kings 17:4-6
4 You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.”
5 So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there.
6 The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
Bible in one year: Joshua 8 – 9, I Thessalonians 1-2

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

.

1. Believe it or not, some people are afraid of blessings!
2. Some prefer to be “average” rather than to be super-rich, because thy believe that wealth will either cause them to backslide or make them vulnerable to spiritual and physical attacks. These are wrong mindsets.
3. Many years ago, while pondering on Psalm 23:5, I wondered why the “waste” of blessings by pouring more into a cup that is already full. I heard the Lord say to me; “It is for Me to show My extraordinary sufficiency.” Hallelujah!
4. One of the wonders of divine blessings is that God can use anything or anyone to make His provision available to you if you are His candidate for divine blessings.
5. In I Kings God sent ravens to bring food to Elijah twice a day. One of the astonishing parts of this story is that ravens are known as fresh eaters. The question then is: how come they did not eat up the meat before getting to Elijah? It would have been understandable if sheep were the couriers in this regard.
6. The truth of the matter is that when a person is divinely blessed, both the forces of heaven and earth will combine to assist the fellow. This was the case of the children of Israel in the wilderness. The wind brought them quails to eat and the rock produced water for them to drink (Psalm 105:40-42).
7. I have often taught my children in church that whenever they embark on a venture and they realise that they always have to struggle so much to make ends meet, they should check back with Go to know whether He is in that venture.
8. Matthew 17:24-27 offers a classical example of divine blessing. To pay their taxes, the Lord instructed Peter to go and catch a fish, open its mouth and pick a coin from it, the value of which would be sufficient to offset their tax bill.
9. My firm belief is that there is a river near you with a fish inside it holding the right amount of money that you need in its mouth. This fish is just waiting to be caught by you.
10. The “fish” may be that fellow yearning for salvation, or that person who needs your spiritual help so much. When you win him or her to Christ, everything you need may already be there in their hands, and the Lord will just move them to release it to you.
11. As I studied the wealth of Solomon, I asked myself where his wealth came from. Then I saw in 2 Chronicles 9:13-14 that his wealth came from all the kings of Arabia and from the governors of other lands. Even the Queen of Sheba joyfully brought her wealth to him (1 Kings 10:1-10). Such is the wonder of divine blessings.
12. I decree upon you today: you will be divinely blessed, and your days of struggling to make ends meet are over in Jesus’ Name.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: FRIDAY,APRIL 6 2018- WONDERS OF DIVINE BLESSING I

Memorise: The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: Deuteronomy 28:12
Read: Genesis 12:1-3
1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Bible in one year: Joshua 6 – 7, Colossians 3:18-4:18

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. When the Lord commanded Abraham to get out of his country, away from his kindred and out of his father’s house to go to a land that He was yet to show him, little did Abraham know that he was being set up for divine blessings.
2. God promised him that He would make him a great nation, bless him and make him a blessing.
3. These promises straightway introduce us to the wonders of divine blessings. How can a man considered barren become a great nation? The answer lies in divine blessings.
4. When you take a critical look at God’s promises to Abraham in today’s Bible reading, you will discover that when a man is divinely blessed, his friends are also blessed, and conversely, his enemies are in trouble because they will be divinely cursed!
5. Divine blessings will be your portion today in Jesus’ name.
6. When a fellow is divinely blessed, it means the blessings are not a result of struggling. Those who don’t know this or who have not experienced divine blessings before will always think that unless you struggle to the point of breaking your back, you cannot make it in life. This could not be further from the truth! That notion belongs to the realm of the curse of the first Adam which all children of God through the second Adam, Jesus, have escaped from.
7. There was a brother of ours who received a divine blessing, and when he told others about it, they found it too good to be believed. One of them even said “this is too good to be genuine!”
8. One of the wonders of divine blessings is that it makes people amazed, even to the point of disbelief.
9. How could Abraham who started as a wanderer become so blessed that he could kill a whole calf to entertain a group of casual visitors numbering only three (Genesis 18:7)? Here is the testimony of Abraham’s servant on the extent of his master’s blessing in Genesis 24:35: “And the Lord hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants and camels, and asses.”
10. Heaven will assist a man or woman that is divinely blessed by sending what he or she needs in due season (Deuteronomy 28:12). I Pray for you that whatever represents rain in your life will fall on you today in Jesus’ name. However, you must be a friend of God like Abraham, walking with God in complete obedience to make this a reality in your life (Genesis 17:1)

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

We should never stagger at the promises of God. We should rather stay in faith like Abraham and watch God fulfil His word concerning us. The blessing of the Lord , it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. Proverbs 10:22 This scripture should make us joyous and full of hope knowing fully well that there shall be a performance of every word that comes from Him. We are daily refreshed as we study the Open Heavens devotional. May God continually increase Pastor E.A Adeboye in Jesus name.

Prayer Point:
Father, please let heaven assist the works of my hands, and grant me access to Your good treasures in Jesus’ Name.
Hymn
(tune: There shall be showers of blessing)
We will soon shout Halleluyah
Because God will do new things
Sinners will soon be forgiven
Prodigals will come home soon.
Chorus:
Shout Halleluyah
Because God will do new things
Rivers in desert now flowing
Halleluyah to our king.
We will soon shout Halleluyah
Because God will do new things
Sickness and sorrow will be gone
Bondage will be forgotten.
We will soon shout Halleluyah
Because God will do new things
The barren will be fruitful soon
Failure will be forgotten.
We will soon shout Halleluyah
Because God will do new things

Stagnancy will soon be gone.
We will soon shout Halleluyah

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: THURSDAY,APRIL 5 2018- THE HEALING WORD

Memorise: He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalm 107:20
Read: 2 Kings 5:8-12
8 And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.
9 So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
Bible in one year: Joshua 3 – 5, Colossians 2:16-3:17

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

.

1. I have a challenge with some of my spiritual children, and it has to do with their lack of faith in the infallible word of God. Although they profess to believe in the word of God, their actions and responses to God’s word plainly shows unbelief. After standing on the altar of God to minster powerful words from God for their deliverance, some of them show their doubt and unbelief by insisting on meeting with me face to face in my office to lay my hands on them before they would be delivered. This is disheartening, and I pray that God will make such people understand the power in His word from today onwards.
2. Every word from God is full of power, and even the written word in this devotional is power-packed. Blessed are those who believe this.
3. Many of these children of mine are like Naaman who expected Prophet Elisha to perform spiritual acrobatics on him, just like many “deliverance ministers” are doing today.
4. Beloved, I am telling you this emphatically today: there is healing in the word of God! The Holy Spirit says this so clearly in Psalm 107:20: “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” Note the words that He used: “He sent his word”. He Himself did not leave His throne, He only sent His word and the word did the healing. Praise the Lord! I am sending the word of God to a person in need of it today, saying ‘Be healed in Jesus’ Name.”
5. In line with the pattern of the Spirit’s operation in today’s Bible reading, there is something you must do for the healing word to do the Lord’s bidding in your life: you must wash! You must wash, not in River Jordan seven times, but in the Blood of Jesus Christ.
6. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death. Sickness as you well know is an agent of death, and so your sins need to be washed away for you to obtain healing through the word. I John1:8-9 says: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
7. Beloved, the above scripture is the healing word that the Lord is sending to you today, irrespective of the number of years you have spent in your walk with Him. Do you believe it?
8. The healing we are talking of today is not only physical: it is also spiritual, material, financial, marital, intellectual, and all-encompassing.
9. In whatever area you need healing today, by the word of the Lord I say to you, be healed in Jesus’ mighty Name.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

Faith is a currency with which we can get anything we want. Matthew 17:20 says “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” This an assurance that our faith is important in having our desired miracle. Let us take advantage of this revelation and put our faith to work. God be praised for Pastor E.A Adeboye in Jesus name.

Action Point:
Study the characteristics of a city set on a hill, light and salt (Matthew 5:13-16), and begin to exhibit these characteristics.
Hymn
Conquerors and overcomers now are we,
Thro’ the precious blood of Christ we’ve victory
If the Lord be for us we can never fail,
Nothing ‘gainst His mighty power can eer pereval.
Chorus:
Conquerors are we, thr’o the blood of Jesus
God will give us victory, thro’ the blood of Jesus
Through the Lamb for sinners slain,
Yet who lives and reigns again,
More than conquerors are we,
More than conquerors are we.
In the name of Israel’s God we’ll onward press,
Overcoming sin and all unrighteousness;
Not to us but unto Him the praise shall be,
For salvation and for blood bought victory.
Unto Him that overcometh shall be given,
Here to eat of hidden manna sent from Heaven,
Over yonder He the victors palm shall bear,
And a robe of white, and golden crown shall wear.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: WEDNESDAY,APRIL 4 2018- TIME TO SHOW FACE

Memorise: Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. Isaiah 60:1
Read: I Kings 19:1-19
1 And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.
2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.
3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.
4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
5 And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
7 And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
10 And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
14 And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
15 And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:
16 And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.
17 And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.
18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
19 So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.
Bible in one year: Joshua 1 – 2, Colossians 1:24-2:15

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. Hiding our identity or deliberately putting ourselves in obscurity does not serve our interest or that of our Father in heaven.
2. Some people misinterpret humility by thinking that being extremely introverted is a Christian virtue.
3. Going by the command in today’s memory verse, this is not so. Someone said the reason why the conjuction “and” is not found between the words “arise” and “shine” in Isaiah 60:1 is because the rising and the shinning form a “simultaneous equation”. The rising presupposes a prompting to shine at the same time. In other words, there is no time lag between your rising and your shinning.
4. A failure to shine while rising has certain implications.
5. When you rise, the Lord knows that your light has come and that He has bestowed His glory upon you. It then follows that if you refuse to shine while the glory of the Lord is arisen upon you and your time passes away, you would have failed God and missed a great opportunity He gave you. May you not miss your opportunity in Jesus’ Name. Our Lord Jesus Christ in John 9:4-5 said: “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
6. This statement should bring to your remembrance that a time will come when Christians will no longer be in this world. Therefore, it is time for us to show our faces.
7. We children of God have been in hiding for too long a time; we must now show ourselves in the areas of education, commerce, politics, the military, transport, agriculture, science and technology, and in all other sectors of life.
8. God needs His children to serve as lights everywhere. The good thing is that the time He wants us to do this is now. For this reason, I told my children during our annual thanksgiving service at the Redemption Camp that they should become active members of the political associations of their choice.
9. In today’s Bible reading, we see how Elijah the prophet exhibited cowardice just after His exploits for God on Mount Carmel. Because he was afraid of Jezebel, the powerful queen, he ran for his life and hid in the wilderness. After encountering God on Mount Sinai, the Lord commanded him to continue his assignment as prophet. I Kings 19:5 says “And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus:”
10. In other words, he should hide no more. He had to show his face and go to complete his assignment as the prophet of God. Hiding our faces as children of God cannot help this generation.
11. Some of us exhibit cowardice and are reluctant to face up to this challenge.
12. We must show our faces by confronting ungodliness in all spheres of life if we will make meaningful impact in our generation.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

God has endowed every of His child with abilities. That will bring Him glory. There is no reason for us to fear or be timid because these are not an attribute of a believer. Isaiah 60:1 is a call for us to shine and we should be motivated every time to take territories for God and prosper in everyting we do. 2 Timothy 1:7 says “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” We should be bold and step out to shine in His glory. We pray that God will give Pastor E.A Adeboye greater grace and wisdom for greater impact in Jesus name.

Action Point:

Hymn
Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
Ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss:
From vict’ry unto vict’ry
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished
And Christ is Lord indeed.
Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
The rumpet call obey;
Forth to the mighty conflict
In this His glorious day.
Ye that are men, now serve Him
Against unnumbered foes;
Let courage rise with danger.
And strength to strength oppose.
Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you;
Ye dare not trust your won
Put on the Gospel armor,
And, watching unto prayer,
Where duty calls, or danger,
Be never wanting there.
Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
The strife will not be long:
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor’s song;
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He, with the King of glory,
Shall reign eternally.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: TUESDAY,APRIL 3 2018- BRINGING DOWN HIS GLORY

Memorise: And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. Acts 16:25
Read: 2 Chronicles 5:1-14
Thus all the work that Solomon made for the house of the Lord was finished: and Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated; and the silver, and the gold, and all the instruments, put he among the treasures of the house of God.
2 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion.
3 Wherefore all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto the king in the feast which was in the seventh month.
4 And all the elders of Israel came; and the Levites took up the ark.
5 And they brought up the ark, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, these did the priests and the Levites bring up.
6 Also king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled unto him before the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
7 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord unto his place, to the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims:
8 For the cherubims spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above.
9 And they drew out the staves of the ark, that the ends of the staves were seen from the ark before the oracle; but they were not seen without. And there it is unto this day.
10 There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put therein at Horeb, when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.
11 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place: (for all the priests that were present were sanctified, and did not then wait by course:
12 Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:)
13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord;
14 So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God.
Bible in one year: Deuteronomy 33-34, Colossians 1:1-23

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. Do you know that the glory of the Lord makes the impossible possible?
2. Indeed, the glory of God breaks Satan’s bars of iron and demolishes anything that represents the walls of Jericho in the life of a believer in Christ.
3. One way to attract God’s glory is through worship.
4. If you need any form of breakthrough in life, spend time worshipping God.
5. However, you must learn how to worship God correctly. Before you can worship God, you need to know Him.
6. In today’s memory verse, we read about how God’s glory came down in the prison yard through intense worship rendered by Paul and Silas, two men who knew their God. Instead of being engrossed in self-pity, they sang high praises to God, worshipping Him for counting them worthy to experience the fellowship of Christ’s suffering. No wonder Paul wrote in Philippians 3:10: “That I my know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death,”
7. The result was God’s glory coming down into the prison yard, shaking the prison to its very foundations and loosing the chains with which they were bound.
8. When a man or woman carries the glory of God, there is absolutely nothing that will be impossible to him or her, because God’s glory is synonymous with His power.
9. In today’s Bible reading, it is amazing that in spite of the meticulous setting of all the liturgical materials , and the orderly procession of the Levites and priests, God’s glory did not come down until the Levites who were singers led the congregation of God’s people in intense worship. 2 Chronicles 5:14 says, “It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;”
10. Beloved, I want to encourage you to be an ardent worshipper of God because it is good and blessed to do so.
11. However, I want you to know that when a sinner brings a sacrifice of worship to God, God does not receive it because the sacrifice of a sinner is an abomination to Him (Proverbs 15:8). So if you are not yet born again, surrender your live to Jesus today, and this will qualify you to be an acceptable worshipper of the Almighty Father.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

Apart from the fact that true worship is heavenly, our Father desires those who will worship Him in spirit and truth. When praises goes up blessing come down. This means that as we worship Him deeply in truth, His glory and presence is made manifest and we get blessed. May God continually uphold and strengthen Pastor E.A Adeboye in Jesus name.

Action Point:
Devote quality time to personally worship God today, and the results will be amazing
