OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL MONDAY DECEMBER 19TH 2022 BOUNTIFUL SOWING – BOUNTIFUL HAIRVEST

MEMORISE: But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 2 Corinthians 9:6

READ: Proverbs 11:24 -25

24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

MESSAGE

ECCLESIASTES 3:2 says: …a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.

When a fellow fails to plant when he should, he will not harvest at the normal time. Furthermore, Proverbs 20:4 says:

The sluggardly will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

If you don’t plant when you ought to, you would have nothing to harvest. If you want a bountiful harvest, you must be willing to sow bountifully. 2 Corinthians 5:6 says:

But this l say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

A long time ago, when The Redeemed Christian Church of God was still quite small, I used my salary to pay most of the staff and had nothing left. At some point, I had to go into early retirement in order to carry out my duties as General Overseer more effectively and I had a lot of expectations concerning my gratuity. In the middle of all my plans, I remembered that I had not asked God for what to do with the gratuity, so I did. God told me to divide the money into three parts: each part was to go to a different ministry. None of these ministries was the one I was leading!

This broke my heart, but God assured me that He would be my source. It has been over forty years now and up to today, He has never failed me and l know He never will.

Bountiful harvests will cost you big seeds. If the Lord is asking you to give bountifully, He is planning to reward you bountifully. You will not lose your opportunity, in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please reveal to me what seed I need to to sow and where, in order to receive a bountiful harvest.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL SATURDAY DECEMBER 17TH 2022 WHEN GOD RISES

MEMORISE:

READ: Psalms 68:1-4

1 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.

2 As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

3 But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.

4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.

MESSAGE

When God rises, an end comes to every form of torment in the lives of His children because the only enemies He has are those of His children. Sometimes, when God needs to get something done, He sends His angels and they do the work. However, once in a while, He rises by Himself and goes to do what needs to be done. When God rises on your behalf, all your problem would be over. If you can master how to get God to rise on your behalf over and over again, no enemy would ever be able to withstand you.

You can get God to arise through praise and worship. When you pray to Him, He can send an angel to bring the answer to,your prayers to you, but when you praise Him, He will come by Himself to receive your adoration. John 4:23 says “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.”

In Acts 12:3-11, God heard the prayer of the saints and sent an angel to set Peter free. However, in Acts 16:23-29, when Paul and Silas praised God in the prison, He went by Himself into the prison and everyone who was bound got loosed.

In 2 Chronicles 20:22-23, when Jehoshaphat led the people of Judah to war, the Bible says:

And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.

God wants to arise and set you free completely, but you must do,your part. Create time today to worship God for at least one hour. Praise Him until you can feel His presence strongly in the room where you are, until you know that He has risen on your behalf and scattered all your enemies. Go ahead and praise the Most High God now.

ACTION POINT

Praise God until He arises on your behalf and scatter all your enemies.

HYMN 16: O GOD OUR HELP IN AGES PAST

O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.

2 Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defence is sure.

3 Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.

4 A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.

5 Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
They fly forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.

6 O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while life shall last,
And our eternal home.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL THURSDAY DECEMBER 15TH 2022 SPARE PARTS IN HEAVEN

MEMORISE: Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:27

READ: 2 Kings 5:9-14

9 So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.

10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.

11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.

12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.

13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?

14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

MESSAGE

I once heard a story of a man who visited heaven and came back. He said in heaven, he was shown a room where there were many spare parts of human bodies. When he asked what they were all for, he was told that they were there to be given to people on earth whose body parts might have been damaged and in need of new ones. That is good news for someone who needs a new body part; ask God for yours today and He will give you from His store.

The Bible says that Naaman’s skin returned to him like that of a baby. That was a new skin. In Mark 3:1-5, the Lord Jesus gave a man with a withered hand a new one. In John 9:1-7, Jesus met a man who was born without eyes and He gave him a new pair. Whenever you read in the Bible that Jesus made a leprous fellow whole, what happened was that the chopped off fingers or ear lobes were replaced with new ones.

God can replace that part of your body that needs changing, if you ask Him.

There was a family in which the parents were Professors, but their son was a dullard. If I were to describe him in my native tongue, I would say where the brain was supposed to be, there was only water there. This boy never passed any exam. He would always come last in his class, with the worst results. When moved from a class of 33 students to one of 40, his position moved from 33rd to 40th. His parents got him the best of teachers and yet he kept on failing. One day, we had a programme at the University where they lived; we prayed a simple prayer for this boy.
At the next examination that the boy sat for, he came first in the class. His teachers said that was not possible because they knew that, even if the boy was given the answers to copy in the exam hall, he would copy them wrong.
Thus they gave him another test and he scored even higher in that one. God had given him a brand-new brain.

My Daddy is the God of all flesh. He has all human spare parts in His store; just ask Him and He will give you what you need. Nothing is too hard for Him to do.

ACTION POINT

Tell God that new body part that you need-whether it is your brain or another part of your body, tell Him about it now. If you don’t need a new body part, ask for someone you know who need one.

HYMN12: MY FAITH LOOKS TO THEE

1 My faith looks up to thee,
thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine.
Now hear me while I pray;
take all my guilt away;
O let me from this day
be wholly thine!

2 May thy rich grace impart
strength to my fainting heart;
my zeal inspire!
As thou hast died for me,
oh, may my love to thee
pure, warm, and changeless be,
a living fire!

3 While life’s dark maze I tread,
and griefs around me spread,
be thou my guide.
Bid darkness turn to day,
wipe sorrow’s tears away,
nor let me ever stray
from thee aside.

4 When ends life’s transient dream,
when death’s cold, sullen stream
shall o’er me roll,
blest Savior, then, in love,
fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above,
a ransomed soul!

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 14TH 2022 THE CONTAGIOUS BLESSING

MEMORISE: And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field. Genesis 39:5

READ: Genesis 39:1 -5

1 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.

2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

MESSAGE

When God really blesses a man, people around him will also feel the impact of that blessing. Luke 5:4-7 when Peter had a net-breaking catch, he needed his colleagues to help him carry the fish out of the water in their boats because his alone could not contain the haul. God can prosper your entire family just because of you. The government can establish some policies that will favour your entire neighborhood just because of you. That is what l call a Contagious Blessing.

In Acts 27:22-44, Apostle Paul happened to be lost at sea in a ship with 276 men. The men panicked because there seemed to be no hope of survival, but because Paul was in that ship, none of them died. In fact, the Bible says that God gave all the people in the ship to Paul; he was in charge of them all, including his captors (Acts 27:24). Furthermore, the centurion stopped the soldiers from killing all the prisoners in the ship because he wanted to save Paul’s life. Talk about contagious blessed man!

I know we usually pray at the end of the day’s discussion, but you should take a minute now and pray, saying, “Father, please let me associate with people whose blessings will rub off on me, in Jesus’ name”.

The Bible reading for today tells the story of Joseph as a slave in Potiphar’s house. The Bible says that though he was a slave, Potiphar prospered because Joseph worked in his house. Your company will prosper because of you, in Jesus name.

It is easy to recognize a contagiously blessed fellow in any organization because the moment the person starts to work there, profits will increase. Somehow, sales will improve and money will overflow. If the blessed one is a business person, everyone will want to partner with him or her because they know that doing so would result in great success. I pray for you again from the depth of my heart: you will be contagiously blessed. Your nation will become the largest exporter of whatever you sell because of you, in Jesus’ name. Your entire family and lineage will never know poverty again because of you, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINT

Father, I don’t just want to be blessed, I want my blessing to be contagious to everyone associated with me in Jesus name.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL MONDAY DECEMBER 12TH 2022 THE EFFICACY OF PRAYER

MEMORISE: And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way. Mark 10:52

READ: 1 Kings 18:36 -38

36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

38 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

MESSAGE

Someone brought a young man to me many years ago. His wife who he had just recently married had run mad and gone to the market square naked. Though the case seemed hopeless, the young man did not want to give up. They had taken the woman to a herbalist’s place already but she wasn’t getting better. When l went to pray for her, l found her tied down in chains. I prayed for her for two minutes and left. The fellow at the herbalist’s place called the young man on the phone and to,d him that the Pastor who came to pray for the lady must be a joker. He wondered how someone could come and spend only two minutes praying for a case as serious as this was. The young man was disappointed, so he decided to take his wife to the psychiatric hospital. When they got there, the Professor decided to observe her for seven days to know what kind of drugs he would administered. After seven days, he called the husband and told him there was nothing wrong with his wife. In two minutes, the seemingly hopeless problem was solved.

The efficacy of a prayer is not in how long it is but I how long the fellow praying has been in the presence of God. Jesus Christ never rolled up his sleeves before He prayed for anyone. Even the prayer that brought Lazarus back from the dead after four days was less than two minutes. This is because He had spent a lot of time, many times the whole night, in the presence of God.

When Elijah prayed in the Bible reading for today, he did not sweat. The prayer took less than two minutes and fire fell. That is because Elijah was always on a mountain and we all know that you go to the mountain to pray.

A two-minute prayer that can cause God to send down fire is not reserved for a set of people; anybody can pray such prayers too, as long as you are willing to really spend time in the presence of God behind closed doors. If you are willing to spend hours just worshipping Him, to have your eyes glued to your Bible and your study notes for hours just getting to know God more, to spend top quality time with Him and not just rush in and out of His presence, then you will be able to pray for just two minutes and miracles would happen.

KEY POINT

The efficacy of prayer is not in how long it is but in know long the fellow praying has been in the presence of God.

HYMN 2: CONQUERORS AND OVERCOMERS NOW WE ARE

1 Conquerors and overcomers now are we,
Thro’ the precious blood of Christ we’ve victory,
If the Lord be for us, we can never fail;
Nothing ‘gainst his mighty pow’r can e’er prevail.

Refrain:
Conquerors are we, thro’ the blood of Jesus;
God will give us victory, thro’ the blood of Jesus;
Thro’ the Lamb for sinners slain,
Yet who lives and reigns again,
More than conquerors are we,
More than conquerors are we.

2 In the name of Israel’s God we’ll onward press,
Overcoming sin and all unrighteousness;
Not to us, but unto him the praise shall be,
For salvation and for blood-bought victory. [Refrain]

3 Unto him that overcometh shall be giv’n
Here to eat of hidden manna sent from heav’n;
Over yonder he the victor’s palm shall bear,
And a robe of white, and golden crown shall wear. [Refrain]

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL SATURDAY DECEMBER 10TH 2022 GOD CONTROLS FRUITFULNESS

MEMORISE: And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren. Genesis 29:31

READ: Isaiah 54:1 -8

1 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.

2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;

3 For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

4 Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.

5 For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

6 For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.

7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.

MESSAGE

It is God who decides who will be fruitful. In Genesis 29:31, the Bible says when God saw that Leah was hated, He opened her womb. He decides who will be fruitful and who wouldn’t. I believe God is bringing this revelation to someone today so that you will put all your trust and hope in Him, and then He will open your womb, in Jesus name.

Rachel wanted her womb opened, but she was looking in the wrong place. In Genesis 30:1-2, she said her husband should give her a child or she would die and he asked her if he was God. In Genesis 30:22-24, the Bible says that God remember Rachel and opened her womb. The fact that He opened her womb tells us that He had shut it before. Revelation 3:7 tells us that He has the key of David and when He opens, no man can shut; when He shuts, no man can open. Every womb that has been shut will be opened today, in Jesus’ name. It doesn’t matter if the devil thinks he has shut your womb. The key of David is a Master Key. When God opens your womb with it, the devil’s key becomes useless.

Fruitfulness, however, goes beyond having children. There can be the womb of business, career, ideas and so on. In Luke 5:1-7, Peter fished all night and caught nothing. The womb of success was closed to him until the One who has the Key of David visited him and opened it unto him. By the next time he launched into the deep, the one who had nothing before caught so much fish that he had to share with his colleagues. When God opens your womb of success, you will get a breakthrough that will be so big, it would be impossible for you to enjoy it alone. The womb of your success shall be opened this month, in Jesus’ name.

There are two things you need to do for God to open your womb. Firstly, look to God alone for your success. He will teach you what to do like He taught Peter where to cast his net. Secondly. Don’t give up hope. Peter almost missed his breakthrough because he had lost hope. He was reluctant to cast the net but only did it because he wanted to be polite. You may be just one step away from that big breakthrough, God has already opened your womb now; launch out and bring in your catch.

PRAYER POINT

Father, open my womb today and let this month mark a turnaround for the better for me in Jesus name.

HYMN 13: MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS

1 My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

2 When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

3 His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

4 When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY DECEMBER 9TH 2022 NO EXCUSES

MEMORISE: Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. Romans 2:1

READ: Genesis 3:9 -14

8 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

MESSAGE

It is in the nature of the fallen man to blame others for their misdeeds. Right from the beginning in Genesis 3:9-14, when God asked Adam why he had sinned, he said, “It is the fault of the woman you gave me”. God turned to the woman and asked, “Eve, why have you done that?” She responded, “The serpent deceived me”. The only fellow who didn’t give an excuse was the serpent. The serpent could have said, “The devil entered me”, but the animal proved to be more responsible for it’s actions than man.

When you are a person who is always giving excuses, you have seen a failure. Giving excuses is one major characteristicsof failures. In the story of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30, the servants who had five and two talents simply gave a report of their trade to the master. The only person who had an excuse was the one who failed. He could have succeeded, but he chose to cook up an excuse; he decided to fail. Anytime you are tempted to give an excuse, remind yourself, “l am not a failure”. If you know that no matter what happens, you will not give an excuse, you would sit up and do your very best. Many people use the government and the state of the economy as excuses for their financial situation, whereas some others are coming out of poverty under the same government and economic situations. Never permit yourself to give excuses at all, unless you want to end up a failure.

If somehow, you were unable to get something right, instead of giving an excuse, own up to your fault. When it goes right, you receive the commendation, so when it goes wrong, you should be prepared to take the blame too. If you arrived late to a meeting and are asked “Why did you come late?” Don’t say, “The traffic was heavy”. You should have researched the route and factored the traffic into your travel time, even if it means you would have to get to the road hours ahead of the meeting. When you are asked, “Why are you not fasting” and you say, “l have issues with my stomach” rather than admitting that you are not disciplined enough to stay away from food, that is an excuse.

Decide today: no more excuses!

KEY POINT

Stop giving excuses and you will see the tremendous changes that will happen in your life.

HYMN 14: NEARER MY GOD TO THEE

1. Nearer, my God, to thee,
Nearer to thee!
E’en though it be a cross
That raiseth me.
Still all my song shall be
Nearer, my God, to thee,
Nearer, my God, to thee,
Nearer to thee!

2. Though like the wanderer,
The sun gone down,
Darkness be over me,
My rest a stone,
Yet in my dreams I’d be
Nearer, my God, to thee,
Nearer, my God, to thee,
Nearer to thee!

3. There let the way appear,
Steps unto heav’n;
All that thou sendest me,
In mercy giv’n;
Angels to beckon me
Nearer, my God, to thee,
Nearer, my God, to thee,
Nearer to thee!

4. Then with my waking thoughts
Bright with thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs
Bethel I’ll raise;
So by my woes to be
Nearer, my God, to thee,
Nearer, my God, to thee,
Nearer to thee!

5. Or if, on joyful wing
Cleaving the sky,
Sun, moon, and stars forgot,
Upward I fly,
Still all my song shall be
Nearer, my God, to thee,
Nearer, my God, to thee,
Nearer to thee

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 7TH 2022 THE MINISTRY OF ANGELS ll

MEMORISE: Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. Acts 12:5

READ: Acts 12:1 -11

1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

MESSAGE

For anyone who is not born again, it is dangerous to be around angels. In Acts 12:20-24, Herod was smitten by an angel and worms ate him up because he was filled with pride. In 2 Kings 19:35, when a king thought that he would deal with a child of God, he came with a mighty army and a single angel killed 185,000 soldiers in one night. Anyone not on the side of God would be treading dangerously when walking around Angels, and unfortunately for such people, there are Angels everywhere.

On the other hand, anyone who is born again is very safe because there is always at least one angel walking around him or her. Such a person would have a security detail better than that of the president of the most powerful country on earth. The unfortunate thing, however, is that many born-again Christians have made their Angels redundant.

In our Bible reading for today, Herod took James and killed him, but when he took Peter, an angel came to rescue him. If you look at the difference between both incidents, you will see that when Herod took James, the Church did not pray. They did not activate the ministry of the angel of God, but when he took Peter and they prayed, the angel’s ministry was activated.

There are many things we suffer even though we have Angels around us and this is because we don’t pray. When your prayer altar is cold, your angel is rendered redundant. As you make petitions to God either in your understanding or in the Spirit in the place of prayer, God issues instructions to your Angels.

Pray to activate the ministry of Angels in your life. In 2 Kings 19:20, God sent a message to King Hezekiah thus saying “Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria l have heard”.

It was the prayer of Hezekiah that activated the angel who went out and killed 185,000 soldiers of the Syrian army in 2 Kings 19:35. If he had not prayed, he would have been easy pray for his enemies.

KEY POINT

When you pray, you activate the ministry of Angels in your favour.

HYMN 22: SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER

1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare,
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
The joys I feel, the bliss I share,
Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
Where God my Savior shows His face,
And gladly take my station there,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

3 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I’ll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

4 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah’s lofty height,
I view my home and take my flight.
This robe of flesh I’ll drop, and rise
To seize the everlasting prize,
And shout, while passing through the air,
“Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of pray

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY DECEMBER 6TH 2022 THE MINISTRY OF ANGELS l

MEMORISE: And God’s anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him. Numbers 22:22

READ: Exodus 14:15 -27

15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:

16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:

20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.

21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,

25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.

26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.

27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

MESSAGE

Hebrews 1:13-14 says that angels are ministering spirits. They are sent to minister to those of us who are heirs of salvation. Once you are born again, at least one angel is allocated to follow you so that he can protect, assist and defend you. The angel will also monitor your actions and report your activities to God.

It is a beautiful thing to have an angel with you everywhere you go. Whenever the enemies think they have gotten you, your angel can just simply take you out of their hold when they have gone to sleep (Acts 5:17-25, Acts 12:5-11). Even if you come face to face with lions, an angel will shut their mouths so that they don’t harm you (Daniel 6:19-22). With an angel with you everywhere you go, you have the best security in the universe because angels are really strong. The first time you see an angel of God, the first thing he will tell you is, “Fear not”, because you would really be frightened.

What you get from an angel is determined by whose side you are on. If you are on God’s side, the angel will work for you; if not the angel will block your way so that everything you try to do would just be hitting a brick wall. In Numbers 22:21-35, we read about Balaam who God told not to go with Balak when the latter called for the prophet. Balaam insisted that he wanted to go. An angel blocked the way and was ready to kill him because the Bible says God’s anger was kindled against him. If a demon is blocking your way, you can tell it to get out and it would leave, but if an angel stands in your way and you tell him to go, he would ask, “In whose name?” If you say, “In Jesus’ name”, he will say, “It is Jesus that asked me to stand here” and there would be no way to move forward from there. If you don’t want an angel to stand in your way, you had better not annoy God.

It was an angel that ensured that the Egyptians did not get close to the Israelites all night so that they could be drowned in the morning. The angel was rescuing the Israelites while simultaneously pushing the Egyptians towards death. Do not displease God; surrender your life to Jesus and live a holy life so that God’s Angels will work in your favour.

KEY POINT

Angels will work for you if you are on God’s side but against you if you are living in sin.

HYMN 2: CONQUERORS AND OVERCOMERS NOW WE ARE

1 Conquerors and overcomers now are we,
Thro’ the precious blood of Christ we’ve victory,
If the Lord be for us, we can never fail;
Nothing ‘gainst his mighty pow’r can e’er prevail.

Refrain:
Conquerors are we, thro’ the blood, thro’ the blood;
God will give us victory, thro’ the blood, thro’ the blood,
Thro’ the Lamb for sinners slain,
Yet who lives and reigns again,
More than conquerors are we,
More than conquerors are we.

2 In the name of Israel’s God we’ll onward press,
Overcoming sin and all unrighteousness;
Not to us, but unto him the praise shall be,
For salvation and for blood-bought victory. [Refrain]

3 Unto him that overcometh shall be giv’n
Here to eat of hidden manna sent from heav’n;
Over yonder he the victor’s palm shall bear,
And a robe of white, and golden crown shall wear. [Refrain]

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL MONDAY DECEMBER 5TH 2022 GRATITUDE AND TESTIMONIES

MEMORISE: And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Revelation 12:11

READ: 1 Samuel 17:34 -37

34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:

35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

MESSAGE

The elders have an adage that says, “The child who is grateful for yesterday’s blessing will receive another”. You must be grateful, not just because God has already done a lot for you, but to open the door for what He will yet do. Some people lose their miracles because they are ungrateful. They lose the support of the most High God because they cannot just say ‘Thank you.’. Those who constantly remember His mercies always experience more and more. Blessings always pursue and overtake them.

Remembering His mercies will help you to develop mountain-moving faith. In Mark 11:23-23, Jesus said if you have faith in God, then you can command mountains to move and they will obey. It is established that God does not change, as we see in Malachi 3:6 where He said, “For l am the Lord, l change not…”. We also see in Hebrews 13:8 that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Both scriptures point to the fact that if God did a miracle yesterday, He can do it again today. Thus the more of His benefits you remember, the greater your faith and the more He can do for you. Once you can remember His track record concerning any situation, whenever that situation comes to face you again, you would just laugh because you know you have a Daddy who has tackled it before and will do so again victoriously.

In our Bible reading today, David recounted Lord’s benefits towards him and standing on that, he was sure that the same God who delivered him from the lion and the bear would take care of Goliath. If you can just remember one of God’s miracles in your life, then you can be sure He will do another one. The devil had tried to tell me that the 3km-by 3km auditorium will not be completed. I laughed because that was what he said when we were building the first auditorium which was 100meters by 50meters. He said the same thing for the second and third, and now we are in the fourth, so l told him, “you are wasting your time; this 3km-by-3km is just a baby, the real big one is yet to come”.

Consider whatever mountain that is blocking your way now as just another opportunity for a new testimony.

KEY POINT

Your testimonies about God’s goodness and gratitude to Him will produce more miracles.

HYMN 27: WHEN LIFE’S BILLOW YOU ARE TEMPEST TOSSED

1 When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

2 Are you ever burdened with a load of care?

Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?

yCount your many blessings, every doubt will fly,

And you will be singing as the days go by.

3 When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold.
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your Lord on high.

4 So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
