Memorise: This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare. 1st Timothy 1:18
Read: James 5:17-18
17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
Bible in one year: Hebrews 9-10, Hosea 5-6

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. A prophecy is of little or no good to the one it has been sent if it does not move from the realm of the spirit into the physical realm.
2. Your attitude to a prophecy plays a great role in determining its manifestation in the physical world.
3. Today’s Bible reading tells us how best to relate with prophecies.
4. Through it, we understand that it is important to pray before making a decree and also after you prophesy.
5. At a time when the nation of Israel was in the grip of a serious national backsliding, Elijah stood before King Ahab and decreed that there would be no rain until he reversed that decree (1 Kings 17:1). Immediately after he made this decree, he went into seclusion. The king only heard the decree, but he did not know what went on behind the scenes.
6. Apostle James tells us that Elijah prayed earnestly before he made this decree. After the nation had experienced intense famine for 31/2 years, God asked Elijah to show himself again to the king. Elijah then stood before King Ahab on Mount Carmel and told him to celebrate because he had heard the sound of abundant rain (1st Kings 18:41-46). He said this only after he had successfully turned the backslidden hearts of the children of Israel back to God. After making his declaration to Ahab, he left the presence of the King, fell on his face and prayed earnestly to God until his prophecy came to pass.
7. Never make a decree or release a prophecy without the backing of prayer.
8. Several people have received certain prophecies that they knew without a doubt was meant for them, and yet they have not witnessed their manifestation in their lives, even while several others are testifying of the fulfilment of the same prophecies in their own lives. What could be wrong?
9. The difference is that some heard, received the prophecy and prayed for its fulfilment, while others heard, received it, but did nothing afterwards.
10. The good thing is that all is not lost; every prophecy that has been spoken into your life or that you have received is still hanging around in the spirit realm, waiting for you to bring it into the realm of the physical through your earnest prayer.
11. A man who had been barren for over 30 years once asked God what he should do, and God said he should wait. When he attended one of our meetings, a prophecy came forth saying “the waiting period is over”. He thanked God, received it and prayed earnestly. That month, his wife conceived.
12. Go ahead and pray for the manifestation of every prophecy God has sent to you that is yet to become reality in your life.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

It’s unfortunate that many people have lost blessings that would have eliminated poverty completely from their live simply because of their ignorance concerning prophesy. Thank God for today’s insight that reminds us of the importance of turning prophesy to reality. The Bible say “Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies.” ‭‭I Thessalonians‬ ‭5:19-20‬. Hence, whether the prophesy is good or bad, it requires consistent and earnest prayer to avert it or call it to reality. A good example of the averted bad prophesy was Hezekiah, ““Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly. And it happened, before Isaiah had gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD. And I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for My own sake, and for the sake of My servant David.” II Kings‬ ‭20:3-6‬. Prayer is key, May God help us. God bless and equip Pastor E.A Adeboye for greater works in Jesus name.

Key Point
Every prophecy can become reality if only you can apply the tool of effective, persistent prayer.
HYMN
1. My faith looks up to thee,
thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
take all my guilt away,
O let me from this day
be wholly thine!
2. May thy rich grace impart
strength to my fainting heart,
my zeal inspire!
As thou hast died for me,
O may my love to thee
pure, warm, and changeless be,
a living fire!
3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
and griefs around me spread,
be thou my guide;
bid darkness turn to day,
wipe sorrow’s tears away,
nor let me ever stray
from thee aside.
4. When ends life’s transient dream,
when death’s cold, sullen stream
shall o’er me roll;
blest Savior, then in love,
fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above,
a ransomed soul!
