OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL WEDNESDAY 5TH MAY 2021–GIVE AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN TO YOU.

MEMORISE:
There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. Proverbs 11:24

READ: Luke 6:38

38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

MESSAGE:
Givers always get the attention of Heaven; I know this from the story of the Shunammite woman in 2 Kings 4:8-17. When you do what God wants, He will respond by meeting your needs supernaturally and promptly. The Shunammite woman took care of Elisha; she demonstrated an uncommon commitment to the man of God. As a result, one day, the Spirit of God led Elisha to ask her what she needed. The man of God found out she was barren and prophesied into her life in 2 Kings 4:16-17:
“….About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid. And the woman conceived and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.”

Without fail, God’s word through Elisha came to pass. Beloved, when you give to God sacrificially, the impossible will become possible in your life. I recall a brother who volunteered to drive me everywhere I went while on a ministerial assignment in Eastern Nigeria. When it was time for me to leave, I gave him some money in appreciation of his gesture, saying “Brother, kindly give this small gift to your children”. His response shocked me. He shouted “Amen” continuously and prayerfully. I asked the Pastor-in¬ Charge of that Province why the brother was so enthusiastic about the gift I gave his children. I was told that although the brother was so rich, he didn’t have any child. I said God would surprise him with a miracle. When I visited the city the following year, the same brother was at the airport to pick me up. However, this time, he surprised me with a gift. With tears of joy streaming down his face, he said ”This is a gift from my first son”. He who had been childless for years became a proud father miraculously, simply by offering to drive God’s servant in his car and believing the word of the Lord. His reproach was rolled away. I pray that your next offering will bring a gift that money cannot buy into your life in Jesus’ name. Begin to give sacrificially from today and the Lord will bless you beyond your wildest dreams.

ACTION POINT:
Look around you, find someone in need and bless him or her.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL MONDAY 3RD MAY 2021: WHAT TO DO TO GET THE BEST.

MEMORISE:
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

READ: Philippians 4:15-16

15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

MESSAGE:
One of the qualities which earned Elisha greatness is that he was hard-working. Beloved, if God decides to bless you today but you are lazy, you will never get the blessing. If you want extraordinary blessings, then you must be prepared to work extraordinarily hard. Proverbs 22:29 says:
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

Elisha did not walk around lazily, only dishing instructions to his father’s laborers; rather he worked along with them as we see in 1 Kings 19 :19. All of Jesus’ disciples were hard-working too. He called each one of them while they were on the pathway of duty. Peter was a skillful fisherman before the Lord called him,
Matthew too was at his tax collection point when he was called by the Lord. Beloved, Christianity does not excuse anyone from work.

In my early days as a Christian, I had some believer friends who were quite lazy; they preferred to talk big than to work hard. We were all taught the principles of faith and positive confessions, but I knew that achieving greatness in life goes beyond mere confessions. Some of my friends would always make positive confessions without any corresponding hard work to back them up. They spent years saying “I am a millionaire and I possess a good car by faith” without working. In the end, they remained as poor as they were at the beginning of their confessions. Beloved, if you refuse to work and you go about confessing that you have claimed the car of your dreams by faith, the only car You will end up with will be your two legs.

Another quality which earned Elisha greatness is that he was very generous. As soon as he was called, he Prepared a feast and fed his people. What qualified the Philippians for God’s supplies in Philippians 4:l9 is found in verses 15-18. As you work hard and give generously to God’s work as well as the needy in
in your neighborhood, God will bless you beyond your imagination, in the mighty name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, give me the strength to work hard. Please also give me the seed to sow into Your kingdom and the lives of the needy.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL SUNDAY 2ND MAY 2021: DIVINE RESTORATION.

MEMORISE:
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Psalm 51:12

READ: Ezekiel 37:1-10

1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.

4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.

5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.

9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

MESSAGE:
Our God does not only create, He can also restore as we see in today’s Scripture reading. You will experience this kind of restoration today in Jesus’ name. The story is the restoration of dry bones. Ezekiel was taken to the valley of dry bones by the Spirit of God. Dry bones, of course, signify a state hopelessness and lifelessness. When he got there, the Almighty God had a dialogue with him. Is it not amazing that whenever God wants to perform wonders, He dialogues? He did the same when He fed the five thousand in Mark 6:30-43. The fact that God dialogues with His children does not mean He does not know what to do at any given time; rather it means that He likes to fellowship with His children. God dialogued with Ezekiel and the wonder working process began.

The first lesson in this story is that whenever the Spirit of God is upon an individual, the fellow would be able to do the impossible. Ezekiel was not even sure if the dry bones could live or not. He was just a prophet. The second lesson is that we must always acknowledge the sovereignty of God in all matters, no matter how pressing or ridiculous the case at hand may be. Ezekiel said only God knew if the bones could live again. He acknowledged God’s power. 1Corinthians 1:25,27 says:
“Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men… But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;”

Whenever we acknowledge God’s sovereignty, there will be a mighty manifestation of wonders. Ezekiel responded positively to the instructions God gave him concerning the dry bones, he prophesied, and the result was a mighty army. Beloved, without the Holy Spirit we can do nothing; however, with Him all things are possible.

Whenever the Spirit of God is, there is liberty, miracles, sign, and wonders. These good things will be your portion this season, in the mighty name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please speak to my situation today. Restore unto me everything the enemies have destroyed In my life, in the mighty name of Jesus.
