OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: SATURDAY, JULY 1ST 2017- SALVATION COMES FIRST

Memorise: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1st Peter 2:24
Read: 1st Peter 2:21-25
21 For even here unto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
Bible in one year: 1st Samuel 8-9, Lamentation 3:7-36

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. Just as the repercussions of sin can affect every facet of life, so also can salvation become the platform of recovery for every area of life that has been devastated by sin.
2. When a sinner comes in contact with the Lamb of God and His blood, his or her sins are washed away, and all the devastating effects of sin can be reversed in one day.
3. Take for instance the impotent man in John 5:2-14, who was sick for 38 years. Immediately he came in contact with Jesus, he was healed. From that moment, he stopped failing, hope came to his hopelessness, he was able to fellowship with people in church, peace came to his life and joy returned to his heart. All these happened in one day.
4. When you give your life to Jesus and He saves your soul, peace and joy will suddenly flood your heart. From that very moment, you have access to all the precious promises of God. You can claim them and they will become reality in your life.
5. “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” 1st Peter 2:24
6. God’s process for healing is revealed in the above scripture. First is the transfer of your sins to the crucified body of Jesus Christ by faith, and thereafter comes healing.
7. Many people want God to heal them but they do not want God to first roll away their sins. It doesn’t work that way!
8. Any prophet, man of God or pastor who promises to heal you without the experience of salvation from sin must be avoided like a plague. Why? It is because instead of a miracle from God, you might be getting magic from Satan, and you can be certain that Satan is a very wicked taskmaster.
9. Moreover, quite a number of sicknesses and diseases are caused by sin.
10. The moment you settle the issue of sin at the cross of Jesus Christ, healing will then be released.
11. Are you sick and still wallowing in sin? Give your life to Jesus now! Renounce every link with the devil, break every covenant with demons and commit your life to Christ. Ask God to forgive you for your life of sin and promise never to return to that life. Ask Him to come into your heart as Lord and Saviour today.
12. If you have truly done these from your heart, I command every sickness or disease hibernating inside your body to be uprooted now in Jesus’ Name!

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

Submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ automatically hands us a package. In it is divine health, riches, power, love, sound mind amongst other great inheritances. Then until a sinner releases himself or herself to the Lord to be king over every affair of his or her life the benefits of son can not be enjoyed. The key to salvation is confession according to Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” God will continue to empower Pastor E.A Adeboye for greater works in Jesus name.

Action Point
Use every opportunity to pray for the healing of the sick, but first lead them to Christ
HYMN
I have decided to follow Jesus
I have decided to follow Jesus
I have decided to follow Jesus
No turning back, No turning back
Though none go with me still I will follow
Though none go with me still I will follow
Though none go with me still I will follow
No turning back, No turning back
My cross I’ll carry, till i see Jesus
My cross I’ll carry, till i see Jesus
My cross I’ll carry, till i see Jesus
No turning back, no turning back.

The world behind me, the Cross before me
The world behind me, the Cross before me
The world behind me, the Cross before me
No turning back, No turning back

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: FRIDAY, JUNE 30TH 2017- WONDERFUL PROTECTION

Memorise: Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Psalm 91:5
Read: Psalm 91:5-7
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Bible in one year: 1st Samuel 6-7, Lamentation 2:14-3:6

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. Besides being a God of wonders who does wonders, God can also turn you into a wonder.
2. A young man gave a profound testimony during one of our monthly Holy Ghost Services some years ago. He testified that during a prior Holy Ghost Service, the Lord instructed me to inform the congregants that the clothes they wore to that programme had just been anointed and had therefore been special. Unknown to him, some hired killers had been sent to kill him. Coincidentally, on the day marked for his assassination, he was wearing the very clothes that had been anointed during the Holy Ghost Service. As he passed by the assassins on this fateful day, he heard them say, “This is the fellow”, and immediately, they opened fire on him. Six bullets passed through the front of his clothes and came out at the back, but nothing touched him. He brought the clothes he wore and showed us the bullet holes in front and at the back. He said he could not explain how that could happen without affecting his body.
3. Indeed, there is a God who can turn someone into a wonder! As people looked at him, they saw someone who by all standards should have been dead, but who was alive because God miraculously protected him from weapons of destruction.
4. This season, God will turn you into a wonder! He will miraculously protect you from every weapon of death formed against you.
5. Moreover, God can perform wonders through you! He can turn you into an instrument that performs wonders.
6. For instance, on one ordinary day, Peter and John were going along the way when they encountered a lame man who asked for alms, but God used them to heal him (Acts 3:1-11). This same man who had sat at a gate of the temple for years suddenly rose up, began to walk, leap and praise God. He became a wonder to everyone who knew him, and the duo that God used to perform the miracle also stood out as wonders. Acts 3:11 says, “And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.”
7. Beloved, God wants you to be a wonder. He also wants to use you to perform wonders.
8. Are you ready to cooperate with Him? Can you pay the price to become a conduit for signs and wonders to flow through? How concerned are you about God’s Kingdom? How consecrated are you? Are you prepared to give it all it takes?

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

Wonderful protection is assured to everyone who is on the lord side. The question is ” are you on the lord side”? By the grace of God, when we submit totally to His authority and power, He protects us. The Bible says “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”Psalms‬ ‭91:1-2‬. One condition should be noted above, in Him will I trust. Do you trust in the almighty God for protection today? May God bless Pastor E.A Adeboye and strengthen him on every side in Jesus name.

Prayer Point
Father, as You used Peter and John to perform miracles, use me and my family to perform spectacular miracles today.
HYMN
What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
You wilt find a solace there.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: THURSDAY, JUNE 29TH 2017- THINK IN THE SPIRIT

Memorise: In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:6
Read: Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Bible in one year: 1st Samuel 3-5, Lamentation 2:3-13

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. Life in the Spirit is possible, even though for most believers it still a struggle (Galatians 5:25).
2. To grow your spirit-man, you need to earnestly seek more opportunities to be refilled with the Holy Spirit after being baptized with Him (Ephesians 5:18-19).
3. To live in the Spirit, you need to think in the Spirit. In our thought life, many of us leave out the Holy Spirit, and this is one of the reasons why we don’t go far in our walk with God.
4. Whenever God is left out of an equation, it never balances. This is why today’s Bible reading says we should acknowledge Him in all and not some of our ways. It is only then He will direct our paths.
5. Some of us usually announce to God the decisions we have already reached, instead of consulting with Him earlier, so that He can help us arrive at the best decision.
6. What is wrong with God deciding for you? Who decided that you would be born? Were you a part of that decision? Who decided your sex, nation, looks, height, complexion and the parents you would have? If He could decide all these, would it be too much for Him to be involved in the decision-making process of your life?
7. When He is involved in a decision, He will ensure it does not fail. However, if in playing “mature” boy or girl, you leave Him out and your decisions later backfire, you will have only yourself to blame.
8. When there is an issue on ground and you present the issue to God, asking for His guidance or instruction on how to handle it, He will be pleased that you are giving Him His rightful place in your life.
9. To what extent do you involve God in your personal and family affairs? Do you see Him as an intruder or as a partner? How often do you involve God in your thoughts and plans?
10. If you really want Him to be a part of your thought life, then shun all evil thoughts. Load your mind with His word. Think often on God’s word and focus on Jesus. By doing these, it will become easy for you to think in the Spirit.
11. The Holy Spirit is the only Person who can help you see things from God’s perspective. This is why 1st Corinthians 2:11 says, “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”
12. When you yield your mind to Him, you will see yourself thinking more like Jesus, and what is important to God will gradually become important to you.
13. When this continues, His likes will become your likes, and you will hate what He hates. There will be an alignment between what He wants and what you want.
14. Start involving God in your thought process from today.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

As we seek God more, we know Him more and love Him more. Digging deep into His word opens us up to His truth and then when we act on these words we are bound to remain in the spirit. May God bless Pastor E.A Adeboye as he is a blessing to many of us around the world in Jesus name.

Key Point
The extent to which you involve God in your personal or family affairs shows the extent of your trust in Him.
HYMN
1 O spread the tidings ’round, wherever man is found,
Wherever human hearts and human woes abound.
Let every Christian tongue proclaim the joyful sound:
The Comforter has come!
Refrain:
The Comforter has come! The Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from heav’n, the Father’s promise giv’n,
O spread the tidings ’round, wherever man is found:
The Comforter has come!
2 The long, long night is past; the morning breaks at last;
And hushed the dreadful wail and fury of the blast,
As o’er the golden hills the day advances fast!
The Comforter has come! [Refrain]
3 Lo, the great King of kings, with healing in His wings,
To every captive soul a full deliv’rance brings;
And thro’ the vacant cells the song of triumph rings;
The Comforter has come! [Refrain]
4 O boundless love divine! How shall this tongue of mine
To wond’ring mortals tell the matchless grace divine –
That I, a child of hell, should in His image shine?
The Comforter has come! [Refrain]

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28TH 2017- WHAT KIND OF GROWTH?

Memorise: But speaking the truth is love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: Ephesians 4:15
Read: Ephesians 4:10-16
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Bible in one year: 1st Samuel 1-2, Lamentation 1:13-2:2

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. If you are a sheep in the fold of the Great Shepherd, you will not lack rest or what to eat. Beyond these, you will not thirst, as He leads you beside the still, calm waters. This is another way of saying that your thirst will be quenched. The Lord in Matthew 5:6 spoke of this when He said: “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
2. Hunger and thirst are part of the mechanisms that have been programmed into the human body to produce growth. How you respond to these impulses will determine the quality or type of growth you experience.
3. Prolonged starvation and refusal to eat both lead to death.
4. Similarly, while taking only a particular kind of food, some people experience abnormal growth patterns, due to the absence of the required quantity of nutrients, vitamins, fatty acids, and so on, needed by their body. This is why children who are exclusively fed a diet full of carbohydrates tend to have oversized heads and stomachs, rickety legs and hands – a growth problem known as “Kwashiorkor”.
5. For growth to be even and progressive, all the needs of the body must be provided.
6. The observed effect of food on physical growth in the natural world also applies to what happens in the spirit.
7. Today, spiritual growth is so distorted in the Body of Christ as a result of the nature of food being fed and the attitude of believers towards spiritual food.
8. There are different stages of growth in the Kingdom of God. 1st Peter 2:2 says baby Christians should be fed with milk, so as to grow normally.
9. Today, you have those who claim to have been saved for 5, 10 or more years still insisting on being fed with milk. If a 10 year old child still wants to be breastfed, what kind of growth would result from this? Also, there are so many false doctrines being propagated through the airwaves and in churches today.
10. What kind of growth will such doctrines deliver to those who receive them?
11. In addition, a number of those who are being fed the sound, undiluted truth of God’s word do not have enough time to receive it.
12. What kind of growth do you think will result from such spiritual eating pattern?
13. When you do not grow as you are expected to, you become a problem to yourself and others around you.
14. How are you growing today? What are you feeding on? How often do you feed on God’s word?

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

Continuous study of the word of God brings growth in the life of a believer. It is surprising that when a particular scripture earlier studied is read again the Holyspirit gives a new meaning to it. We can’t get enough of God’s Word regardless of how many times we study it. The potency of the word is what brings growth in us. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 I pray God will help us feed rightly and on the right word for a healthy growth in Jesus name. God bless Pastor E.A Adeboye with all required for greater impact in Jesus name.

Action Point
Change your spiritual diet and feeding pattern to reflect the desire for healthy spiritual growth.
HYMN
Deeper, deeper in the love of Jesus
Daily let me go;
Higher, higher in the school of wisdom,
More of grace to know.
Refrain:
Oh, deeper yet, I pray,
And higher every day,
And wiser, blessed Lord,
In Thy precious, holy Word.
Deeper, deeper, blessed Holy Spirit,
Take me deeper still,
Till my life is wholly lost in Jesus,
And His perfect will.
Deeper, deeper! though it cost hard trials,
Deeper let me go!
Rooted in the holy love of Jesus,
Let me fruitful grow.
Deeper, higher, every day in Jesus,
Till all conflict past,
Finds me conqu’ror, and in His own image
Perfected at last.
Deeper, deeper in the faith of Jesus,
Holy faith and true;
In His pow’r and soul exulting wisdom
Let me peace pursue.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: TUESDAY, JUNE 27TH 2017- UNDER AUTHORITY?

Memorise: Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Romans 13:1
Read: Acts 8:12-17
12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
Bible in one year: Ruth 2-4, Lamentation 1:1-12

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. It is one thing to serve the Lord, and another thing to submit to authority.
2. Some people can render service to God but they cannot submit themselves to the authority of someone the Lord has placed over them.
3. In today’s Bible reading, after the apostles heard that a deacon was making waves in Samaria, they decided to go and see what was going on. Peter was asked to lead the delegation there. On arrival, Philip received them warmly, introduced them to the Samaritan converts as his leaders and submitted himself to their authority. There was no conflict whatsoever!
4. If it were some people today, there would have been a rift. They would have confronted these leaders with rash words such as “Pastor Peter, where do you think you have come to? When there was no revival here, you never came to Samaria. Now that God has used me to bring revival to Samaria, you have come to take over the work and the glory. I will never allow you to do this. You may be an apostle, but I am the one God used to save these souls and perform these signs and wonders, so please return to your Jerusalem.”
5. Do you know that there are some pastors that God used in building up a church, who down the line defy all moves to transfer them elsewhere? They believe that since they did all the hard work of building from scratch, they should be left to enjoy the “dividends” of their labour.
6. This only shows a lack of understanding. In the first place, whatever work we do in the Kingdom of God is done for God and not for any man. Also, the means used for the work, whether physical, financial or material, come from God.
7. Furthermore, no human being can adequately reward you for work you do for God.
8. Similarly, God does not owe any one who serves Him: He always rewards them here on earth and later in eternity, as promised by the Lord in Matthew 19:29: “And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.”
9. There should be no conflict at all on such matters. When a person is told by their authority to relocate, it should be clear to him or her that God is most likely through with using him or her in that current location.
10. If you find it difficult to submit to your earthly superiors, it means that you are not ready for the ministry of signs and wonders.
11. Are you under authority, or do you resist and struggle with your superiors? Repent and make amends today!

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

Being under authority is same as submission and it cuts across various categories. If we can train ourselves to be submissive at the lowest level and to the authority from grass root then submitting to higher authority becomes much more easier with the help of the holy Spirit. It is well with us in Jesus name. God be praised for Pastor E.A Adeboye. The ability to turn even more to Christ is released unto him in the name of Jesus.

Key Point
Refusing to submit to the powers above you makes you a rebel, and this attracts divine condemnation (Romans 13:2).
HYMN
1 Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise.
2 Take my hands and let them move
at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for thee,
swift and beautiful for thee.
3 Take my voice and let me sing
always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from thee,
filled with messages from thee.
4 Take my silver and my gold;
not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
every power as thou shalt choose,
every power as thou shalt choose.
5 Take my will and make it thine;
it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own;
it shall be thy royal throne,
it shall be thy royal throne.
6 Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
ever, only, all for thee,
ever, only, all for thee

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: MONDAY, JUNE 26TH 2017- BORN INTO CAPTIVITY?

Memorise: He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 1st John 3:8
Read: Exodus 1:8-12
8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:
10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.
12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
Bible in one year: Judges 21, Ruth 1, Jeremiah 52:24-34

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. While some people fall into captivity through traps set by the tempter, some others, like Joseph, are sold into slavery (Genesis 37:23-28).
2. In some parts of Africa, when a child is born, both parents of the child or either one of them enter into a covenant involving that child and some deity or spirit-wife or husband. Such a child later grows up to find that he or she has been sold into slavery. There are many childless couples who go to some deities for help, because they can no longer wait on God to give them good children. This opens the door to satanic offspring in their lives. Later in life, such demonic children will become devourers of their resources and peace. May you never be so frustrated as to go to the devil for help! Satan’s “help” is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10).
3. Moreover, in today’s Bible reading, we understand that some people enter into slavery right from birth.  When a pharaoh that did not know Joseph arose in Egypt and enacted new laws that made the Israelites slaves, every child that was born to them from that moment was born into slavery.
4. In whatever way you have found yourself in captivity, whether by choice, design or by birth, there is deliverance for you today.
5. The Great Deliverer is able and willing to deliver you. 1st John 3:8 says Jesus Christ was manifested in order to destroy the works of the devil.
6. Captivity is the work of the devil, and he seeks to control and ruin lives by it.
7. The predator runs the lives of his captives. When he wants, he whips them, pushes them into difficulties and mocks them while they struggle. He dictates what they become and where they will end. The fellow in captivity has virtually lost control over his or her life.
8. You cannot be a captive and at the same time be free to serve God the way you want.
9. One of the reasons why Jesus Christ came into this world was to make us free to serve God. Contained in the prophecy of Zacharias about the Lord Jesus Christ in this statement about His mission, in Luke 1:74-75: “That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.”
10. This is why you have to arise in anger today and rebel against any form of captivity you have found yourself in, and ask Jesus Christ to deliver you now. You shall be free today!

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

As believers, we sometimes directly or indirectly put ourselves in the devil’s bondage through disobedience to God, discontent and pride amongst other things. But God is merciful and ever willing to receive whoever comes to Him in genuine repentance. In case you find yourself in bondage thinking can you be free from being a captive, there is good news for you. God is able to make you free again. Isaiah 49:24-26 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? But thus saith the Lord , Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children. And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the Lord am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob. This shall be our testimony in Jesus name. We bless God for Pastor E.A Adeboye who through the Holy Spirit wrote this devotional. As we study each day we are blessed. May His strength be renewed in Jesus name.

Prayer Point
In any way I and members of my family have found ourselves in captivity, we rebel and break away it today!
HYMN
1 Through the love of God our Saviour,
all will be well.
Free and changeless is his favour,
all, all is well.
Precious is the blood that healed us,
perfect is the grace that sealed us,
strong the hand stretched forth to shield us,
all must be well.
2 Though we pass through tribulation,
all will be well.
Ours is such a full salvation,
all, all is well.
Happy, still in God confiding,
fruitful, if in Christ abiding,
holy, through the Spirit’s guiding,
all must be well.
3 We expect a bright tomorrow,
all will be well.
Faith can sing through days of sorrow,
‘All, all is well.’
On our Father’s love relying,
Jesus every need supplying,
in our living, in our dying,
all must be well.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: SUNDAY, JUNE 25TH 2017- WHY HEALING IS YOURS

Memorise: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5
Read: Isaiah 53:3-5
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Bible in one year: Judges 20, Jeremiah 52:12-23

1. In life, what you tolerate goes a long way to determine what you go through, and how you go through situations and circumstances.
2. While God expects us to be tolerant of the weaknesses, character defects and inadequacies of our fellow human beings, He does not expect us to be tolerant of the devil and his tokens. For this reason, in 1st Peter 5:9, we are commanded to steadfastly resist the devil and his antics. In fact, we are even permitted to be violent in our approach towards effectively resisting the devil (Matthew 11:12).
3. Whatever you allow in your life, stays, multiplies and may even dominate your life! Never allow anything evil to come into your life or to continue to hibernate in your life.
4. One of the tokens of the liar that you must not allow is sickness. You should not tolerate sickness because it hinders you from effectively serving God.
5. Sickness hinders and makes one an ineffective witness of Jesus Christ. If you go out to preach about Christ and His power and you are sick, some people will challenge your message, saying that the power you attribute to Jesus should first be seen in your life before they can believe.
6. In addition, sickness hinders how we praise God. Isaiah 38:18-19 says only the living can praise God and not those in the grave. It is not easy to praise God when your body is going through severe pain. Isaiah 53:5 says, “But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
7. Jesus has already paid the price of our healing, and so when a believer remains sick, it means that the suffering of Christ over that person is being wasted.
8. Are you sick? You cannot afford to remain sick. Receive your healing now in Jesus’ Name! Mark 9:23 says if only you believe, your healing can be delivered to you. This means that your faith is being challenged whenever you are sick.
9. Do you have enough faith to appropriate the sufferings of Christ over your situation in order to be healed?
10. Beyond this, God gave me a revelation that sickness does not only challenge our faith, it also challenges our Lord Jesus Christ. Since He is the Author and Finisher of our faith, when sickness challenges our faith, then it is the Author and Finisher of our faith that is also being challenged (Hebrews 12:2).
11. This season, your healing will suddenly manifest and you will see the tokens of sickness no more.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

One of the reasons why Jesus paid the price for you to have a sound and perfect health on the cross is for you not to be limited or restricted by any form while serving Him. God expects you to live a sickness free life to be able to glorify Him with every part of your body. This bible says ” “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭6:20‬. This verse confirms the truth that He paid the price for your healthy living just to be able to glorify Him. By the power in the blood, we are free from every affliction. God bless Pastor E.A Adeboye for blessing us with the word of God daily in Jesus name

Action Point
Father, since You have already paid the price for my healing, I receive all-round healing today in Jesus’ Name.
HYMN
The great Physician now is near,
The sympathizing Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus.
Refrain:
Sweetest note in seraph song,
Sweetest name on mortal tongue;
Sweetest carol ever sung,
Jesus, blessed Jesus.
Your many sins are all forgiv’n,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus;
Go on your way in peace to heav’n,
And wear a crown with Jesus.
All glory to the dying Lamb!
I now believe in Jesus;
I love the blessed Savior’s name,
I love the name of Jesus.
His name dispels my guilt and fear,
No other name but Jesus;
Oh, how my soul delights to hear
The charming name of Jesus.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: SATURDAY, JUNE 24TH 2017- CONSEQUENCES OF SIN

Memorise: The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor. Job 15:20
Read: Genesis 3:8-19
8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Bible in one year: Judges 19, Jeremiah 51:59-52:11

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. Sin can bring unimaginable consequences upon the sinner.
2. Some years ago, I visited the maximum security prison at Kirikiri, Lagos, where I met a man who had been condemned to death. For 27 years, he had waited for the day the executioner would come for his head. While we discussed, I trembled at the repercussion of sin. He said to me, “Even if I am released now, where do I start from, having wasted 27 years of my life?” Do you expect such a man to be joyful during all that period of waiting? No way! He must have been sad for 27 years! Psalm 16:4 says, “Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.”
3. According to this scripture, sin and sorrow go hand in hand. If you are living in sin, you cannot be separated from sorrow.
4. If you enjoy sinning, you will be compelled to enjoy sorrow as well.
5. If you are always sorrowful, examine your ways: it is possible your life of sorrow is the product of a sinful life. Similarly, sin is linked with pain, struggle and tears. Job 15:20 says “The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.”
6. This scripture simply means that if you sin and continue in it, get ready to suffer for a long time, possibly throughout life.
7. These repercussions of sin did not just start today; they have been there from the beginning. In today’s Bible reading, after Adam and Eve sinned, the serpent was cursed above all other creatures and lost its legs. For the woman, the process of conception and childbirth became an issue of life and death, while the ground was cursed for man’s sake. Since then, it has been a struggle for man to enter into his harvest. Before you take out your harvest from the fields, you have to sweat, suffer, weed out what you did not sow, and so on.
8. Are you going through a lot of struggle, pain and tears over your efforts to move to the next level?
9. First crosscheck your life to find out if these are caused by sin.
10. If there is sin, confess it to God, ask for forgiveness and beat a fast retreat.
11. Follow after the path of righteousness, because righteousness will ensure sorrow stays far from your life.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

If a child in the Sunday school class is been ask what the consequence of sin is, he or she will answer without delay that it is death! This indicates that every believer is aware that sin brings or results into death. Though death is the end result of sin, sorrow, pain, struggle and tears preceeds it in the life of anyone who dwells in it. The accuser and root of all sin is working tirelessly day and night with his cohorts to see that no one despite the knowledge of the consequences of sin goes free. His mission to steal, kill and destroy remains as all effort is channelled to seeing it fulfilled. I pray his will shall never be accomplished in our lives in Jesus name. Let’s live consciously everyday of God’s desire for us to be obedient and make delibrate effort to be obedient shaming the devil and destroying his plan by doing so. God help us as we do so in Jesus name. May God continually increase Pastor E.A Adeboye in Jesus name.

Prayer Point
Father, in any way I have brought sorrow into my life because of sin, have mercy on me and deliver me today.
HYMN
I have decided to follow Jesus
I have decided to follow Jesus
I have decided to follow Jesus
No turning back, No turning back
Though none go with me still I will follow
Though none go with me still I will follow
Though none go with me still I will follow
No turning back, No turning back
My cross I’ll carry, till i see Jesus
My cross I’ll carry, till i see Jesus
My cross I’ll carry, till i see Jesus
No turning back, no turning back.

The world behind me, the Cross before me
The world behind me, the Cross before me
The world behind me, the Cross before me
No turning back, No turning back

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: FRIDAY, JUNE 23RD 2017- BECOMING A WONDER

Memorise: Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people. Psalm 77:14
Read: Psalm 77:11-15
11 I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.
12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.
13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?
14 Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.
15 Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
Bible in one year: Judges 17-18, Jeremiah 51:45-58

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. God is a wonder and He does great wonders. I pray that He will perform wonders in your own life, so that you can testify that you have experienced His wonder-working power, in Jesus’ Name.
2. Beyond this however, do you know that God can turn you into a wonder? For instance, look at the mad man of Gadara. He was so mad that all hope was lost concerning his recovery; but when Jesus touched his life, he was seen not only in his right senses, but also decently dressed and even evangelising the goodness of the Lord. Many people who saw him were amazed and had their doubts as to whether he was the same person who once terrorised the community (Mark 5:20). He became a wonder!
3. Lazarus, who had been dead for four days, also became a wonder and a tourist attraction after he was raised from the dead. John 12:9 says this about him: “Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.”
4. Several years ago, during a particular Holy Ghost Service we held at the National Stadium, Surulere (Lagos), there was a man with a huge growth attached to his neck sitting beside a particular woman. The growth was so huge that it overshadowed his face. While the programme was on, the woman sitting beside him kept peeping at the protruding growth. During the sermon, the word of God came that there was someone in attendance with a huge growth around the neck and that it had gone. On hearing this, the woman sitting next to this man immediately turned to look at him and it was as if the growth suddenly grew wings, flew away and disappeared. This woman was so amazed at this wonder that after the programme was over, she had already trekked from the stadium to Palmgrove, a distance of about 5km, before she remembered that she had left her car parked in the parking lot inside the stadium.
5. When God turns you into a wonder, even sceptics will find it difficult to doubt your testimony because it will be so profound.
6. Also, your life will become a perpetual signpost for God’s Name to be glorified.
7. Are you in dire need of a miracle? Beyond that need, ask God to make you a living wonder for the glory of His Name.
8. This season, as the Lord turns you into a wonder, the same mouths that have mocked you and challenged your God will become the instruments for spreading your testimony and for reverencing your God!
9. Worship the Almighty God who alone can make you a wonder.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

Our God is the way maker and extra ordinary strategist. He is still changing lives, making miracle spring forth from a mess and turning shame to glory. He is God above all and nothing is impossible with Him. May His name be praised forever. Amen. We bless God for the author of this devotional Pastor E.A Adeboye and we pray his ministry shall get glorious by each day in Jesus name.

Prayer Point
Father, today, make me a positive wonder to my generation, so that they can come to know You.
HYMN
The great Physician now is near,
The sympathizing Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus.
Refrain:
Sweetest note in seraph song,

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: THURSDAY, JUNE 22ND 2017- WHO IS BEHIND THIS ROADBLOCK?

Memorise: Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. Psalm 26:2
Read: Numbers 22:22-31
22 And God’s anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the Lord stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.
23 And the ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.
24 But the angel of the Lord stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.
25 And when the ass saw the angel of the Lord, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall: and he smote her again.
26 And the angel of the Lord went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.
27 And when the ass saw the angel of the Lord, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam’s anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.
28 And the Lord opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?
29 And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.
30 And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? and he said, Nay.
31 Then the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.
Bible in one year: Judges 15-16, Jeremiah 51:27-44

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. “Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.”
2. The above scripture is one of those very popular passages in the Psalms. When a baby Christian hears it, he will say “Amen!” Some adult Christians have even turned it into a song. A mature believer in Christ, I mean a real bone-cracker, will however react differently. When he or she hears this passage being quoted, the first thing he or she will do is to carry out a brief self-examination and introspectively ask: “I hope I am not one of these enemies?” In other words, he is not in a hurry to say amen.
3. In 2nd Samuel 12:1-7, after Prophet Nathan told King David the story of an oppressive act committed in his kingdom, the king rose up in fury and decreed, “That fellow must die.” Then the prophet replied, “You are the man, O king.” Be very careful how you judge others because Matthew 7:2 says, “For with what judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”
4. If only some people were merciful while judging others, they too would have been shown mercy when they were going through their own judgement.
5. Beloved, before you cry to God to arise and let His enemies be scattered, first find out if you are not that enemy. Have you even tried to find out whether God is the one fighting you?
6. In today’s Bible reading, God had told Prophet Balaam not to go and curse His people. Nevertheless, when Balak invited him to curse the children of Israel and promised him a lot of money, he disobeyed God. God therefore sent an angel to block his way. The donkey he rode on saw the angel and stopped, but because his own eyes were blinded by covetousness, he could not see the angel.
7. What will you do if you find yourself in this scenario? You perceive something is blocking your way but you do not know what exactly it is, and you say, “You demon standing between me and my destiny, move!” You get a response saying, “I am not a demon but an angel.” You then insist and say, “No problem, whatever you are, move out of my way!” He then asks, “In whose name?” You say “In the Name of Jesus Christ”, and the response is, “Oh, He is the One who asked me to block your way!” What would you do?
8. Today, many people are busy fighting non-existent forces of darkness that they believe are blocking their way.
9. Go back to God and find out who is really blocking your way in order to pray correctly.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

Like our father in the Lord rightly mentioned above many people are busy fighting non-existent demons of darkness that they believe is blocking their ways to fulfillment of their destiny. Thank God for this awakening message, let’s go back to God and inquire the exact cause of those obstacles and pray the right prayer. In Romans 8:31b “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Many have even forgotten this Bible reference ends with a question mark, they quickly say “nobody” but the truth is, you can be against yourself. Hence, let’s take time to find the root of every challenge in our life. God bless Pastor E.A Adeboye for daily bringing the knowledge of God’s Word to us through this devotional. May he wax stronger in Jesus name.

Key Point
Many children of God are doing God’s work their own way and refusing to do it God’s way. God is therefore grinding them to a halt!
HYMN
1 Through the love of God our Saviour,
all will be well.
Free and changeless is his favour,
all, all is well.
Precious is the blood that healed us,
perfect is the grace that sealed us,
strong the hand stretched forth to shield us,
all must be well.
2 Though we pass through tribulation,
all will be well.
Ours is such a full salvation,
all, all is well.
Happy, still in God confiding,
fruitful, if in Christ abiding,
holy, through the Spirit’s guiding,
all must be well.
3 We expect a bright tomorrow,
all will be well.
Faith can sing through days of sorrow,
‘All, all is well.’
On our Father’s love relying,
Jesus every need supplying,
in our living, in our dying,
all must be well.
