OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY JULY 1ST 2022 SLEEPING IN TRAINING?

MEMORISE: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:1 Peter 5:8

READ: Acts 20:7 -12

7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.

9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.

11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.

12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

MESSAGE

Apostle Paul was preaching while a young man named Eutychus was sleeping. Our attention however is not on Paul but on Eutychus. Here was a greatly anointed man of God preaching and he was sleeping. It may look like something to judge him for, but there are many like Eutychus in the Church today. Many people go to the Church today and sleep throughout the service. They may not be closing their physical eyes, but their spiritual eyes are closed. Some workers are sleeping spiritually while the anointing is flowing. John 7:38-39 says:

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

The rivers referred to in the Scripture above is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit flows like a river. When He is moving, if you are not conscious of His presence and paying attention, He will flow past you and you would miss your miracle. Anyone who saw Eutychus and the others leaving the service the next morning would have thought that they were blessed and fully charged spiritually, not knowing that some of them like Eutychus slept off during the meeting and were leaving just the same way that they came. This is why many people keep attending powerful crusades and life changing services but their lives have remained the same.

Sometimes, the organizers of these services are the ones who actually make it easy for people to sleep when they should be fellowshipping. When you decorate the Church and it look like art gallery, people would be appreciating the art rather than connecting with the Lord. The Church is a place of intimate fellowship with God so let the environment foster that more than anything else. That is why we decorate our Church auditoriums in The Redeemed Christian Church pf God with Scriptures. Everywhere you turn, there is a Bible verse that will catch your attention because we want you to be focused on God and nothing else.

KEY POINT
Church services play a major role in equipping you for all-round success; don’t sleep in training.

HYMN 16: O GOD OUR HELP IN AGES PAST

1. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home:

2. Beneath the shadow of thy throne,
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is thine arm alone,
And our defense is sure.

3. Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting thou art God,
To endless years the same.

4: A thousand ages in thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.

5 Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
They fly, forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.

6. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be thou our guide while troubles last,
And our eternal home!

3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

HYMN 20: ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS
1. Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
Christ, the royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
See his banners go!

[Chorus]
Onward, Christian soldiers!Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.

2. At the sign of triumph
Satan’s host doth flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers,
On to victory.
Hell’s foundations quiver
At the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices,
Loud your anthems raise.

3. Like a mighty army
Moves the Church of God;
Brothers, we are treading
Where the Saints have trod.
We are not divided;
All one body we:
One in hope and doctrine,
One in charity.

4. Onward, then, ye people;
Join our happy throng.
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song:
Glory, laud, and honor
Unto Christ, the King.
This through countless ages
Men and angels sing.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY JUNE 28TH 2022 THE SHOUT OF PRAISE II

MEMORISE: Psalms 67:5 -6
5 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.

6 Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.

READ: Psalms 67:3 -7
3 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.

4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.

5 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.

6 Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.

7 God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.

MESSAGE
The Bible says that God is seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 4:24

In other words, God is constantly seeking people who praise Him. When He finds them, He dwell with them as we learnt yesterday, inhabiting their praises (Psalm 22:3). Psalm 16:11 says:
Thou wilt whew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasure for evermore.

This means that after your praise has drawn God to you, you will also receive joy and many other pleasures that come with His presence.

There was a woman who had been married for many years without the fruit of the womb. She said she would normally shout seven hallelujahs, so people began to call he ‘Sister Hallelujah’. One day, she decided against praying for a child. She said to herself, “I don’t need one child, I need three”, so she began to shout 21 hallelujahs. Suddenly, the barrenness of 30 years was over and she gave birth to 3 children. When you send a shout of praise to heaven, miracles come pouring down on you. Psalm 67:5-6:
Let the people praise thee, O God; let all people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.

Believe me honestly, when you come to God in prayer and just keep bombarding Him with requests, you are acting foolishly. Wise people know that when you come with praises, He will be the one asking you , “What do you want?” If you don’t believe me, ask Solomomm(2 Chronicles 1:6-7). When you prioritise praising God above making requests, He will answer your prayers far beyond your expectations.

ACTION POINT
Shout Hallelujah!

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 74-75

HYMN 15: NOW THANK WE ALL OUR GOD
1 Now thank we all our God
with heart and hands and voices,
who wondrous things has done,
in whom his world rejoices;
who from our mothers’ arms
has blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love,
and still is ours today.

2 O may this bounteous God
through all our life be near us,
with ever joyful hearts
and blessed peace to cheer us,
to keep us in his grace,
and guide us when perplexed,
and free us from all ills
of this world in the next.

3 All praise and thanks to God
the Father now be given,
the Son and Spirit blest,
who reign in highest heaven
the one eternal God,
whom heaven and earth adore;
for thus it was, is now,
and shall be evermore.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL MONDAY JUNE 27TH 2022 THE SHOUT OF PRAISE 1

MEMORISE: And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city. Joshua 6:16

READ: Joshua 6:1 -20
1 Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.

2 And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.

3 And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.

4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

6 And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD.

7 And he said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the LORD.

8 And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns passed on before the LORD, and blew with the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.

9 And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rereward came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

10 And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.

11 So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.

12 And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.

13 And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

14 And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days.

15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.

16 And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.

17 And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

18 And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

19 But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.

20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

MESSAGE
There is something very powerful about the shout of praise to,the Most High God. It is a major weapon against he devil. Some people have wondered why l don’t bind and cast the devil out before l start to preach.
Instead of binding and casting, l just ask everyone to shout hallelujah e devil runs away because nobody stays in a place where they are praising his enemy.

There was a wealthy woman who discovered that whatever she ate, she vomitted. She went to the best of doctors around the world, spent a lot of money, but she could not hold down any food. Finally, someone suggested that she should come to the Headquarters of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, believing that God would perform a miracle for her when nothing else was working. She came to the Church. The service had barely started when l said”Let somebody shout hallelujah”; as she opened her mouth to praise the Lord, a worm came out of it and from that moment, she received her healing.

Psalm 22:3 says: “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.”

God praises of His people. For Him to, inhabit their praise, He needs to stand from His throne and go towards them. Psalm 68:1 says that when He arises, all His enemies are scattered. Hence, if you belong to God, your enemies will become His enemies. Thus, when He rises on your behalf, all your enemies must scatter. That is what happened in Acts 16:16-34. He heard praises coming from the prison and rose from His throne to inhabit the praises of Paul and Silas. When He hears praise from wherever you are, He shows up and all chains, shackles, all prison doors are destroyed.

Is there anything that the devil has been tormenting you with? A shout of hallelujah will sen him packing. In 1 Samuel 16:23, as David played the harp, the evil spirit left Saul.

Is there something that has proven too hard for you to reach or overcome? A shout of praise will bring down that wall in your way (Joshua 6:20). If only you can give Him a shout of praise today, you will behold the fall of Satan.

ACTION POINT
Fill your life with praises to the Almighty God and He will answer your prayers far beyond your expectations.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 72-73

HYMN 19: O WORSHIP THE KING ALL GLORIOUS ABOVE
1 O worship the King all-glorious above,
O gratefully sing his power and his love:
our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days,
pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.

2 O tell of his might and sing of his grace,
whose robe is the light, whose canopy space.
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
and dark is his path on the wings of the storm.

3 Your bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

4 Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
in you do we trust, nor find you to fail.
Your mercies, how tender, how firm to the end,
our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!

5 O measureless Might, unchangeable Love,
whom angels delight to worship above!
Your ransomed creation, with glory ablaze,
in true adoration shall sing to your praise!

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL SUNDAY JUNE 26TH 2022 GOD WILL HELP YOU

THEME: GOD WILL HELP YOU

MEMORISE: Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

READ: Isaiah 41:10 -14
10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

MESSAGE
The best thing that could happen to anyone is for God to decide to help him or her. When God decides to help you, there is nothing that can stand in the way of you fulfilling destiny. When it comes to resources, He said in Haggai 2:8:

The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.

He also has influence in the highest places possible as we see in Proverbs 21:1

The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

If not for God in my life, l wouldn’t be who l am today. When l gained admission to,llesha Grammar School, we were to pay a deposit of 2 pounds, but my parents didn’t have it. One way or the other, God provided and l, resumed in the school. By the end of the first year, almost everything in the house had been sold. By the time l had done 3 years in e secondary school, there was nothing more to sell.

Just around that time, God brought somebody who had just returned from London to my village. Everybody went to celebrate with him. While everybody was surrounding him and rejoicing, he just turned in my direction and said “Hello, little boy”. We began to talk. At some point, he noted that my command of the English Language was very good and l told him l was a student in Ilesha Grammar School. He asked what class l was in and l told him l was supposed to go to Form 4 but there was no money. He arranged for the school fees for my 4th year. After that, my mother went back to the principal and said, “Now he has done 4 years; please give him his testimonial so he can go and teach”. The man said, “Out of 5 years, he has already done 4. He only has one more year to go; you can’t withdraw him now”. One way or the other l finished secondary school, gained admission to the University and got on the path of fulfilling my destiny, because God really helped me.

I pray for you today; God will move everything that needs to be moved for you to fulfill your destiny, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINT
Father, you helped Pastor Adeboye. You are no respecter of persons; please help me too.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL SATURDAY JUNE 25TH 2022 LEARN FROM YOUR SUBORDINATES

MEMORISE: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1: 7

READ: 2 Peter 3:14-16
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

MESSAGE
Don’t ever see anybody as too small to counsel you when you know that they have the knowledge that can move you to your next level. We see from our memory verse today that only fools despise wisdom and instruction.

I remember when social media was becoming popular; it was my youngest son whom l asked for tutoring. He was my teacher in that area of life. When l was in secondary school, l had some challenges in English Language . In those days, for the Cambridge exam (now known as Senior Secondary School Certificate Exam), the British said that it did not matter if you got an A1 in every other subject; if you failed English, then you would fail all. I was just a village boy, nobody in my family could speak a word of English, so l knew l needed help. There was a boy in school who grew up in United Kingdom, so he had a grasp of the language, but he was my junior. I went to meet this junior boy, and told him that he was to start teaching me English. I said whenever l had money, l would buy him groundnuts. He taught me English Language and l passed the exam. On the score sheet, there was no mention of the fellow who taught me, no one cared; as long as l knew what l was supposed to know, l passed the examination and moved on with my education.

Don’t ever feel too proud to learn from your subordinates. If we are to be honest, these young ones who are just coming up have tools that we did not have in our time . They have more access to knowledge than we do. If we learn the latest trends from them and then combine this knowledge with our wealth of experience, we will go really far. Believe me honestly,it does not matter who teaches you; all that matters is that you get the knowledge you need to move ahead in life. In our Bible reading for today, though Peter had been in ministry before Paul, he acknowledge that Paul had been given a wisdom by God to, preach deep truths on salvation. Put your pride aside and learn from even your subordinates so that you can continue to go higher and higher.

KEY POINT
Don’t despise the wisdom you need to succeed just because it is domiciled in your subordinates.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 68-68

HYMN 25: TO GOD BE THE GLORY GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE
1 To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life our redemption to win,
And opened the life-gate that all may go in.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice;
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice;
Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory; great things He hath done.

2 Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

3 Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY JUNE 24TH 2022 LEARN FROM YOUR COLLEAGUES AND MATES

MEMORISE: Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

READ: Colossians 3:16
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

MESSAGE:
There are people who may appear to be your mates, but many of them could actually know a lot more than you do. Thus,whenever you discover such people, submit yourself to learn from them. By the time you begin applying the lessons you have learnt, it would be to your advantage.

For example, if you notice that one of your colleagues seems to get along with people easily and that gives him or her some advantage, take that fellow as your case study on how to get along with people. Begin to study him or her closely so that you can gain tips on getting along well with people too. When you need the fellow to explain something about how they get along with people to you, set pride aside and ask. Once you notice something at which someone else is better, it does not matter if the fellow is your mate or even junior to you – learn it from him or her. The Bible does not only encourage elders teaching the younger ones, it also encourages that contemporaries learn from one another and even that you can learn from your juniors. Just ensure that what you learn is in line with the word of God. Our Bible reading today instructs us to allow the word of God to dwell richly in us for the purpose of teaching and admonishing one another.

I learnt how to pray – not from my Father-in-the-Lord or any of my Bible teachers then, but from a brother in the church. I wanted to pray for long hours, but whenever l started praying, after 5 – 10 minutes, l would have nothing to say again. I noticed that this brother used to pray for very long, so,l decided to always take a position very close to him whenever he was praying. I noticed that for one-hour prayer time, for sample, this brother would praise God for about 50-55 minutes and then make his request in 5-10 minutes . As l learned this, l also started practicing it up until today, that is the format that my prayers take. What you learn from that person you may consider your contemporary or even junior to you may be one of your greatest strengths in the future.

ACTION POINT
List out things that you know one or two people around you are better at than you, and start to learn from them.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 65-67

AUTHOR: PASTOR E” A ADEBOYE

HYMN 28: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD
When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey. [Refrain]

3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain]

4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain]

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL WEDNESDAY JUNE 22ND 2022 WHAT DO YOU WANT?

THEME: WHAT DO YOU WANT?

MEMORISE: Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10

READ: Exodus 33:18 -23
18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:

22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:

23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

MESSAGE
The question in our topic for today is one that invariably every human being will be asked at one point or another. Some people have already been asked this question before and their answer made them lose an opportunity that would have changed their lives forever. Your answer to this question, depending on who is asking you, can change your life for the better if you give the correct response. When God told Solomon to say what he wanted in 2 Chronicles 1:6-7, he asked for wisdom to lead God’s people right. That answer made him end up as the richest and wisest king in the world, ever. When Elisha was asked this same question, he said he wanted a double portion of the spirit of Elijah and he got it. What do you want? Esau wanted food; he got it, but he who could have become the nation of Israel missed that great destiny. Gehazi wanted money, he got it, but he could have gotten a double portion of the anointing on Elisha died a leper. Jeremiah 45:5 says:
And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, l will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will l give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.

Ecclesiastes 1:2 says all these things are vanity upon vanity. Jesus Christ told us what to seek in Matthew 6:33:

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Seek God, seek that His kingdom be established here on earth. Jeremiah 26:13 says if you seek Him , you will find Him. Let your yearning be for Him and Him alone, then all the things that others are chasing will be chasing you. Seek Him in worship, seek Him through Bible study, seek Him in prayers.

Set your love upon God. Love Him with all your heart, soul and mind as Jesus instructed us in Matthew 22:37 and see if you will ever lack any good thing.

REFLECTION
How desperate do you yearn for God?

HYMN12: MY FAITH LOOKS uP TO THEE
1 My faith looks up to thee,
thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine.
Now hear me while I pray;
take all my guilt away;
O let me from this day
be wholly thine!

2 May thy rich grace impart
strength to my fainting heart;
my zeal inspire!
As thou hast died for me,
oh, may my love to thee
pure, warm, and changeless be,
a living fire!

3 While life’s dark maze I tread,
and griefs around me spread,
be thou my guide.
Bid darkness turn to day,
wipe sorrow’s tears away,
nor let me ever stray
from thee aside.

4 When ends life’s transient dream,
when death’s cold, sullen stream
shall o’er me roll,
blest Savior, then, in love,
fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above,
a ransomed soul!

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY JUNE 21ST 2022 THANK GOD FOR WHAT YOU HAVE

MEMORISE: Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. 1 Corinthians 10:10

READ: 1 Timothy 6:6 -10
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

MESSAGE
Many people keep grumbling to God for what they don’t have and forget to thank Him for what they do. Believe me honestly, some people who have what you are running after are not enjoying life any better than you. You want fame? I can tell you that fame will limit you greatly. When we relocated to the Redemption Camp in Nigria, l could walk anywhere l wanted, praying all night. Now, the increase in the camp’s population over the years has significantly limited how much l can walk around. There are things you are enjoying currently, the value of which you really do not appreciate; enjoy them now, because when God begins to answer your prayers, you may never be able to enjoy them again.

1Timothy 6:6 says that godliness with contentment is great gain. What exactly are you seeking that has made you ungrateful,to God? Proverbs 23:5 says that money can develop wings and fly away; are you going to fly after it? When the money comes, you will discover, like the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 5:10, that it does not satisfy those who love it.

Many years ago, l spent a night at the house of a very wealthy man. When it was time for breakfast the next day, the cook came and asked him, “Sir, what would you like for breakfast? ” He asked, “What did l eat yesterday ?” The cook told him; he asked what he ate the day before, the cook told him. after much deliberation, they finally decided on bread and eggs. Another round of deliberations started when the cook asked “What kind of eggs do, you want? fried, scrambled, boiled …? After a lot of talk, he decided that he wanted the eggs boiled. The cook then asked, “How do you want the egg cooked? Hard boiled, medium boiled, soft boiled?” He answered “Medium-boiled”. It took 30 minutes for him to decide on what to eat for breakfast. When the cook asked for what l’d like for breakfast, l said to him”Give me everything you have, just make sure it is plenty”. He asked “You want eggs?” I said, “yes”. “How do you want the eggs?” I said “Whatever way you want it. He said, “How about an omelette? I said “Just make sure you put everything in the omelette “. I don’t have so much , but l have a good appetite; l rejoice and glorify God for that. Are you grateful to God that at least, you can eat? Be grateful for what you have; stop complaining about what you don’t. God is faithful and He will meet all your needs at the right time.

PRAYER POINT
Father, I thank You for all that you have given me. I am extremely grateful, Lord.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 55-57

HYMN 15: NOW THANK WE ALL OUR GOD
1 Now thank we all our God
with heart and hands and voices,
who wondrous things has done,
in whom his world rejoices;
who from our mothers’ arms
has blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love,
and still is ours today.

2 O may this bounteous God
through all our life be near us,
with ever joyful hearts
and blessed peace to cheer us,
to keep us in his grace,
and guide us when perplexed,
and free us from all ills
of this world in the next.

3 All praise and thanks to God
the Father now be given,
the Son and Spirit blest,
who reign in highest heaven
the one eternal God,
whom heaven and earth adore;
for thus it was, is now,
and shall be evermore.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL SUNDAY JUNE 19TH 2022 FATHER, WHERE ARE YOU? I.

MEMORISE: All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them. Genesis 49:28

READ: Genesis 18:19
19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

MESSAGE
Today is the day we celebrate fathers, I therefore say to all fathers reading this: congratulations. To every man who is married and trusting God to become a father soon, in 9 months’ time, you and your wife would have been blessed with your own biological child, in Jesus’ name.

A father is a custodian of the destiny of his child. While mothers spend a lot of time with the children, raising them in the way of the Lord, there is this power that God has placed in the father to decide where the child will end up. The protection and final destination of a child is in the decisions and words of the father. The child bears the name of the father and whatever curses are in the lineage of the father will continue in the children if the man does not cancel them.

Sarah, Abraham’s wife was barren for many years before God finally gave her Isaac. Isaac’s wife Rebecca was also barren for several years before God finally gave her Jacob and Esau. The wife whom Jacob loved – Racheal was also barren for several years before God finally gave her Joseph. Thank God that Jacob wrestled with God and his name was changed to Israel. Dear brother, you cannot afford to pass generational curses to your children, rather you should be passing blessings to them.

Children, especially sons, tend to grow up to be just like their father, hence that popular saying “Like father, like son”. King David was a great king, but he did not discipline his children. In 1 Kings 1:6, we see how David raised his children.
And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why has thou done so?
When his children were grown and he started to see how they were misbehaving, he realized that he had left his children untrained and he regretted it. That is why when Solomon was born, he trained the boy. Solomon said in Proverbs 4:4 that his father trained him. It is God’s expectation that fathers must command their children to serve Him (Genesis 18:19. Are you committed to leading your children in the right direction?

Remember that your sons will carry your name forever and how your daughters behave in their matrimonial homes will be linked back to you. Invest yourself in them more than in your business or career.

ACTION POINT
Lay your hands on your children if they are close to you or call them on the phone if they are far away and bless them from your heart.

HYMN 10: JESUS MY LORD MY GOD MY ALL
1 Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all,
hear me, blest Savior, when I call;
hear me, and from thy dwelling place
pour down the riches of thy grace.

Refrain:
Jesus, my Lord, I thee adore;
O make me love thee more and more.

2 Jesus, too late I thee have sought;
how can I love thee as I ought?
And how extol thy matchless fame,
the glorious beauty of thy name?

3 Jesus, what didst thou find in me
that thou hast dealt so lovingly?
How great the joy that thou hast brought,
so far exceeding hope or thought!

4 Jesus, of thee shall be my song;
to thee my heart and soul belong;
all that I have or am is thine,
and thou, blest Savior, thou art mine.
