OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY 1ST DECEMBER 2020. COMMIT YOUR PLANS TO GOD.

MEMORISE:

A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps. Proverbs 16:9

READ: Proverbs 19:20-21

20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

MESSAGE:

It is not wise to start planning for something when you are already in it. Some people plan their year in the beginning of the year; no wonder they hardly achieve anything meaningful in that year. You cannot begin to plan for a battle when you are already in the midst of it. Have you ever seen someone planning their own wedding on the wedding day? Or begin to study for an examination in the exam hall when question papers are already being distributed? Why then do you wait until the new year before you begin to plan for it?

Now, if I were to ask to see your plan for the year 2021, would you have something to show me? Note that I said ‘show me’ and not ‘tell me’, because I believe that any serious Christian will live by Habakkuk 2:2 which says:
“ And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.”

If you would not have anything to show me, then you need to go to the drawing board and do a proper plan for the year 2021.

Having established the need for you to plan ahead of the new year, it is important that you commit those plans to the hands of God. Before you were formed in your mother’s womb, God had a plan and agenda for your life. It does not matter how meticulous your plan is, if it is not in line with His agenda for you, you may end up struggling to get your footing in the new year. Let Him know that all you care about is that His will is done and nothing else. Tell Him, just like our memory verse says, that you may have planned your way, but you need Him to direct your steps. God is not responsible for whatever is not committed to his hands; if you say you know exactly what you want to do in the new year and you don’t need His help, He will simply stand back and watch. But if you call on Him to direct your footsteps, He will take you to greater heights and help you far beyond your imaginations.

KEY POINT:

In year 2021, put God’s will above yours, always.

Till my life is wholly lost in Jesus,
And His perfect will.

3. Deeper, deeper! though it cost hard trials,
Deeper let me go!
Rooted in the holy love of Jesus,
Let me fruitful grow.

4. Deeper, higher, every day in Jesus,
Till all conflict past,
Finds me conqu’ror, and in His own image
Perfected at last.

Holy faith and true;
In His pow’r and soul exulting wisdom
Let me peace pursue.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL SUNDAY 29TH NOVEMBER 2020. BE A DOER OF THE WORD.

MEMORISE:

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:22

READ: James 1:21-25

21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

MESSAGE:

Life, like a coin, has two sides. You are either stingy or generous, proud or humble, hardworking or lazy. In the same vein, you are either a mere hearer of the word of God or a doer. A hearer is one who listens to the word of God with rapt attention only to later forget and revert to his/her normal way of doing things. He/she may even have resolved to change during the course of the teaching; however, the hearer would not change because he/she would not make a conscious effort to initiate the change process.

With every word which convicts your heart, you must make the change immediately, or else you would be a mere hearer of the word. Don’t begin to analyze it, just make the change. In the process of analyzing, you will give the devil the opportunity to suggest why you should not make that necessary change. If after listening to a sermon, you realize the need to repent from committing adultery, you must immediately break the evil relationships that make you open to the sin, before you even think about it. Send a message to your partner in sin and delete his/her contact immediately. If you delay. The devil would tell you how hurt the person would feel; he would also remind you of the sinful pleasures that you would be missing. At the end of the day, if you entertain the thoughts of the devil, you may eventually return to adultery and end up in hell. John 15:14 says:
“Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.”

Once I hear a word that touches me, I act on it immediately without hesitation. When I heard that worldly music invites evil spirits into your home, I immediately destroyed everything connected to worldly music in my home. I did not even look at many of the cassettes for the fear of seeing one or two that might make me reconsider my resolve. I acted on the word immediately and became better afterwards.

Your mind is a battlefield. If you give the enemy the opportunity to re-strategize, you could eventually lose the fight.

KEY POINT:

Delay may be dangerous. When God’s word convicts you, act on it immediately.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Corinthians 5-8

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

HYMN 20: NEARER, MY GOD TO THEE.

1. Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!
E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee.
o Refrain:
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!

2. Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
Darkness be over me, my rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I’d be nearer, my God, to Thee.

3. There let the way appear, steps unto Heav’n;
All that Thou sendest me, in mercy giv’n;
Angels to beckon me nearer, my God, to Thee.

4. Then, with my waking thoughts bright with Thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs Bethel I’ll raise;
So by my woes to be nearer, my God, to Thee.

5. Or, if on joyful wing cleaving the sky,
Sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I’ll fly,
Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee.

6. There in my Father’s home, safe and at rest,
There in my Savior’s love, perfectly blest;
Age after age to be nearer, my God, to Thee.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL SATURDAY 28TH NOVEMBER 2020. FROM MILK TO BONE.

MEMORISE:

For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. Hebrews 5:12

READ: Hebrews 5:12-14

12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

MESSAGE:

The Christians life is in stages. A baby Christian first feeds on milk- the soft word of God. This is when he/she just has just become born again and is being introduced to the ways of God. After this new believer has been taking milk for a while, it is expected that he/she begins to crush bones. That is when a believer can take in deeper things of the word of God without being confused. At this stage of crushing bones, he/she can also begin to feed some new converts with milk.

There is time to be a regular member of your church and there is a time to join the workforce. There is also a time at which you must also start raising disciples for God. In your Christian walk, you should never remain on the same level, you must keep growing.

Since you got born again, how many souls have you won for Christ? If you have been born again for some years now and you have only been getting fed, not feeding others and helping them grow spiritually, then you need a revival. Jesus’ mandate for all Christians is clearly stated in Matthew 28:19:
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”

God’s desire is that every disciple grows to the level of raising other disciples for Him. Paul told Timothy:
“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2

If you have been a Christian for long and you have not started raising disciples for God, what are you waiting for? Jesus has given us the mandate and He expects us to be faithful to it. Don’t disappoint Him.

REFLECTION:

Are you growing in the things of the Kingdom? How many souls have you won for Christ since you became born again?

NIKE DANIEL RELEASES HER FIRST SINGLE

The long awaited single by Nike Daniel will be ready for download from the 1st December 2020.

“ Nike Daniel is a multi talented song writer and worship leader based in Sweden. Her love for music grew from tender age and now it is beyond a passion but covenanted service unto the Lord.

The Lord reigns is a single that proclaims the sovereignty of God over all things.

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Colossians 1:16 KJV

I was without focus
I was on the wrong path
I was without direction
But His mercy and love found me.
He brought me out of darkness into His marvellous light to show forth His praises. While framing my world with prayer and fasting, He dropped this song in my spirit. THE LORD REIGNS!

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY 27TH NOVEMBER 2020. LET GOD TAKE THE LEAD.

MEMORISE:

Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly. Genesis 13:12-13

READ: Genesis 14:8-16

8 And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim;

9 With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.

10 And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain.

11 And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.

12 And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

13 And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.

14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.

15 And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

MESSAGE:

I may not have achieved as much success and impact as I have today if I had travelled to a developed country as I wanted to when I was younger. I had applied for the Commonwealth scholarship programme abroad for masters. On the day of the interview in the University of Lagos (UNILAG), the members of the panel asked me questions so simple that I wondered if they knew I was an honors student of Mathematics. I was confident I had passed the interview, until a member of the panel who had been dozing all along woke and asked “where is Entebbe?” I responded “Pardon me, I am here for a Mathematics interview, not Geography”. Unknown to me, he was the chairman of the committee. Everyone laughed in such a way that made me realize I would not be getting the scholarship.

When I got out of the interview hall, I ran into one of my lecturers from my alma mater who now worked in UNILAG. We exchanged pleasantries and I told him why I had come to UNILAG. He said to me “No, you don’t need to go abroad; I know your stuff. I will supervise you here for your postgraduate studies”. Thus I became a postgraduate student in UNILAG, eventually got an invitation to attend a service at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, encountered Christ, became born again and today, the Lord has made me the General Overseer of the Church.

Things may be tough now where God wants you to stay, but if you trust and obey Him, your tomorrow will be alright.

When Lot had the chance to choose where he would stay, he did not bother asking God, he just went straight for the seemingly better option. Little did he know he was going into a condemned city. At the end of the day, we see that Abraham who stayed put became far greater than Lot. In Genesis 14:14-16, when Lot was kidnapped because he did not have divine protection, Abraham and his men had to fight and defeat four armies to recue him. In the midst of all the complaints and struggles in developing countries, some people are still getting huge breakthroughs and fulfilling their destinies. You don’t have to tell lies and keep running from the police to become great in life; don’t compromise your eternity for a journey God did not send you on. Let God lead you.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, don’t let me abandon Your plans for my life in the mighty name of Jesus.

HYMN 2: ALL TO JESUS I SURRENDER.

1. All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

o Refrain:
I surrender all,
I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

2. All to Jesus I surrender,
Humbly at His feet I bow;
Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
Take me, Jesus, take me now.

3. All to Jesus I surrender,
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

4. All to Jesus I surrender,
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

5. All to Jesus I surrender,
Now I feel the sacred flame;
Oh, the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL THURSDAY 26TH NOVEMBER 2020. CHOOSE YOUR KING WISELY.

MEMORISE:

Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning! Ecclesiastes 10:16

READ: Ecclesiastes 10:16-18

16 Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!

17 Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!

18 By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.

MESSAGE:

As seen in our memory verse today, if the King of a territory is a child, the whole land suffers the woe. In other words, you must choose your own leaders very carefully. Whenever you have the opportunity to elect a leader in your country or an association you belong to, learn to put sentiments aside and elect a mature and responsible person with a credible track record.

Any single lady that has more than one suitor has a decision to make. She could choose based on looks, money or God’s will. If she chooses based on money and looks alone, she will face the music when the time comes. However, if she chooses God will, then she is on the path towards having a great marriage and a wonderful family.

Beloved sister, marriage is a lifetime commitment; imagine how terrible it would be to have an immature king for the rest of your life. Older women who married immature men must have ignored the red flag they saw during courtship. Are you also ignoring the signs of immaturity and irresponsible in that man courting you? Proverbs 6:10-11 says:
“ Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.”

Run when you meet a man who is always sleeping when he should be working, or playing when he should be studying.

Before you decide on a local church to attend, watch the Pastor’s attitude closely. A Pastor could be anointed but immature. These ones could be linked to babies handling guns; so much power in immature hands. Elisha was like that when he first received the anointing in 2 Kings 2:23-24. Forty-two children lost their lives in a single day because he became angry when they began to call him names. After that day, Elisha learnt to control his temper. An immature leader whether spiritual or in the secular world is dangerous. Choose your leaders wisely.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please give me the gift of discernment so I may please You with my choices.

HYMN 18: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE.

1. My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!

2. May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire!

3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.

4. When ends life’s transient dream,
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll;
Blest Savior, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
Oh, bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul!

ZION DAILY QUEST- STRENGTH TO THE WEAK- 24TH NOVEMBER 2020.

Isaiah 40:28-29

The everlasting God … gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.

The essential issue in this scripture is ‘waiting on the Lord.’ The scripture emphasized “weary” and “faint” as the bone of contention. Weariness is one of the main things that keep us from waiting successfully. Weariness comes when the pressure of a thing weighs on us for a long time. We come to the place that we feel we cannot carry the burden any longer. When we are weary long enough, we may faint. If we faint, we quit fighting. We give up our faith and simply resign ourselves to the lie that God will not meet our need. Fainting leads to depression. Every God-giving vision is greater than the receiver. We need God’s help to pursue and realize our visions. If we build our faith upon the truth of the Word, we can never fall into depression in our missions. We have so many limitations, but God has none. Unless Jesus is enough for you, nothing else will ever be. Faith and trust are the pathway of holiness, let’s walk in them in the pursuit of our vision. What you believe is what you become, and that is the strength of faith. If you navigate through what you believe and start to make necessary changes to your life, that is desirable trust in the Lord. God doesn’t get tired of encouraging his children. He constantly gives life and helps to fight temptation. He won’t give up on his own, unless they die. Therefore, leave your past behind in the dust, and trust in Jesus to see you through.

God’s understanding is unsearchable. He’s never limited to natural methods when it comes to provision in your life! He knows all the possible routes to and from every destination. He knows the times and ways we can be tried and tested, and he sends the encouragement, just at the right time. God strengthens us at our moment of perplexity, especially when we cry to him. He gives strength to the weak and those who have no strength. We can do very little by our natural strength, but we can cry out to God for strength. When we cry out in faith, God steps in and fights our battles. Believe this: As long as there are days to live, there are possibilities available to us! God empowers us to resist evils and temptations around us. He gives strengths to overcome cultivated and inherited tendencies. He supplies all we need to be victorious over sin. All He needs is our permission and submission. God leads us in triumph in Christ through the knowledge of Him (2 Corinthians 2:14). May the Lord send you strength and wisdom to handle all situations nagging your peace. Amen. Daddy Zion.
