HYMN 24: THROUGH THE LOVE OF GOD OUR SAVIOR

1 Through the love of God our Saviour,

all will be well.

Free and changeless is his favour,

all, all is well.

Precious is the blood that healed us,

perfect is the grace that sealed us,

strong the hand stretched forth to shield us,

all must be well.

2 Though we pass through tribulation,

all will be well.

Ours is such a full salvation,

all, all is well.

Happy, still in God confiding,

fruitful, if in Christ abiding,

holy, through the Spirit’s guiding,

all must be well.

3 We expect a bright tomorrow,

all will be well.

Faith can sing through days of sorrow,

‘All, all is well.’

On our Father’s love relying,

Jesus every need supplying,

in our living, in our dying,

all must be well.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 30TH 2022 HE CAN DEFEND THE DEFENCELESS

MEMORISE: I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Psalms 91:2

READ: John 10:7 -14

7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.

9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

MESSAGE

It’s a very frightful thing to be defenseless in a hostile world. When a man is sick, he runs to the doctor for defense but what do you do if the doctor says, “There is nothing more we can do for you”. If a man is in financial problems, he may run to the bank with the hope of borrowing some money to come out of the mess he is in; but what would he do if the bank says they cannot help him? It’s a terrible thing to feel forsaken by relatives and friends, but the worst kind of helplessness comes when the Pastor says, “l have prayed all the prayers l know and there is nothing more l can do for you”. Thank God that at that moment, there is somebody who is called the ‘Defense of the defenseless’. Psalm 46:1 says:

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

No matter how big any trouble is, God is there to defend you,

Once in a while, we face opponents that are too big for us to handle on our own. At such times when we feel defenseless, God is always there to defend us, so long as we belong to Him. During one of our Holy Ghost Services, God told me to tell someone in the congregation that he should not worry, he will laugh last. Apparently, there was a young man in the congregation who had just received a disengagement letter in his workplace. He came from the office straight to the programme with that letter, crying for God to help him. By Monday, all those who ganged up against him to be sacked were sacked and he was prompted.

In John 10:11 He is called the Good Shepherd.

John 10:12 says:

But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

The hireling referred to in the Bible reading for today is the devil. If you put yourself under his care, when the troubles of life come at you like wolves, he will leave you alone, once you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you will come under the protection of the Good Shepherd, and He will defend you whenever an enemy comes against you.

REFLECTION

Are you under the protection of Christ?

HYMN 28: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

When we walk with the Lord

in the light of his word,

what a glory he sheds on our way!

While we do his good will,

he abides with us still,

and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way

to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2 Not a burden we bear,

not a sorrow we share,

but our toil he doth richly repay;

not a grief or a loss,

not a frown or a cross,

but is blest if we trust and obey.

3 But we never can prove

the delights of his love

until all on the altar we lay;

for the favor he shows,

for the joy he bestows,

are for them who will trust and obey.

4 Then in fellowship sweet

we will sit at his feet,

or we’ll walk by his side in the way;

what he says we will do,

where he sends we will go;

never fear, only trust and obey.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH 2022 HE CAN CURE THE INCURABLE

MEMORISE: Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:27

READ: Mark 2:1 -12
1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

MESSAGE
In Mark 2:1-12, we read the story of a man paralyzed from the neck downwards. That is the situation far beyond the scope of medicine. He was incurable, but when this man came in contact with the Lord Jesus Christ, the Curer of the incurable, his paralysis was gone within seconds. God bless all doctors, but many a time, people go to the doctor and he or she looks at their situation and says “Sorry, there is nothing we can do to help”. There is however a Healer who, is greater than any doctor, and can change the medical report. On his behalf now, l am pronouncing that any negative report you have received from a doctor is changed in your favor in Jesus’ name.
I heard a testimony that made me want to jump and dance recklessly. The testifier said that a nail pierced his eye, and the doctor told him nothing could be done to make him see with it again. The Curer of the incurable turned that report around and three days after he was told that he would never see again, he started seeing. Doctors can only try to repair body parts. My Daddy does not have to repair; He replaces body parts. Thus, when a part of the body is damaged beyond repair, the Curer of the incurable steps in with a replacement without leaving any traces that the fellow was ever sick. In the olden days, leprosy was incurable; even today, if you see a leper that has been healed, you would see traces of the leprosy because the fingers, toes and maybe even ear lobes would have been gone. However, when my God cleansed Naaman in 2 Kings 5:14, his skin came back to him like that of a newborn baby. I decree, every medical report that is contrary to your joy and well-being shall be turned around in the name of Jesus.

Jesus Christ can cure the incurable when you call on Him with a pure heart, but isn’t it better, if you never fall sick at all? If the Curer of the incurable lives inside you, if sickness is coming into your body, it will be repelled by the power of Jesus Christ. Revelation 3:20 says He is standing at the door of your heart right now, knocking and waiting for you to open up your heart to Him. You may say, “l have already given my life to Christ, why then has God not healed me”? Check very well, are you really living holy? Are you living in complete obedience to the word of God?

KEY POINT
If the Curer of the incurable is in you, no sickness can survive in your body.

HYMN 13: MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS
1 My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

2 When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

3 His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

4 When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL MONDAY SEPTEMBER 26TH 2022 HE CAN REVERSE THE IRREVERSIBLE

MEMORISE: I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Revelation 1:8

READ: Ezekiel 37:1 -14

1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.

4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.

5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.

9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,

14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.

MESSAGE

Our memory verse today can be interpreted to mean that in God, the past, the present and the future coexist. As a result of this, He control times and seasons (Daniel 2:20-21). Thus, if He wants, He can stop time like in Joshua 10: 12-14. I remember when l was to turn sixty years old, and the assignment God had given me seemed to be far from being achieved. I groaned and cried to God, “Lord help me. I haven’t achieved all that You called me to do. There is still so much work to be done and now the sun is setting”. He said “Son, l decide when the sun sets”.

Yes, my God can stop time, but He can even do more than that; He can reverse it. In Isaiah 38:7-8, when He told. a king that he was going to be healed, the king asked for a sign. The prophet said, “Okay, which one do you want, should l ask the sun to move forward faster or to move backwards?” The King said, “Moving forward faster is easy. Ask the sun to go back” and the sun went backwards that day.

God can pick an opportunity that you think you have lost forever and bring it right back to you again. That was what He did in Genesis 18:9-14 when He said Sarah would have a son. Sarah must have been in menopause for about 40 years, but that didn’t matter to God because He can bring back that which appears to have been gone forever. I prophesy to you every opportunity you have already lost shall be restored to you in Jesus’ name. Now, l don’t just want you to say an ordinary ‘amen’ to that prayer. I want you to meditate on it for a moment. If the Almighty God could bring back the menstrual period of a ninety-year-old woman, do you think your case will be too difficult for Him to solve?

There was a lady who had given birth to children from different men before: she surrendered her life to Christ. She believed that no man would want to marry her ever again but to her surprise, God brought a man to marry her and even told the man that though this lady had a rough past, He had cleansed her and given her a brand-new beginning! God is still in the business of reversing the irreversible and He will bring back whatever you have lost in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINT

Cry to God at opportunity that you have lost. Tell Him, “Lord please reverse the irreversible for my sake.” Go ahead and cry to Him.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 23RD 2022 WHEN YOU MUST BE VIOLENT

MEMORISE: And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. Matthew 11:12

READ: Matthew 18:18

18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

MESSAGE

Some Christians are so gentle that they accommodate the devil and his agents in their lives, claiming the Bible says we should be gentle as a dove. The Bible says that it is only the violent that can take the kingdom of God by force. The devil will do, everything to ensure you don’t enter the kingdom of God; it is with violence that you will take it. If you are at peace when you should be fighting, the devil will roast you.

You must be violent when the devil is confronting you with a situation that can kill you. Any situation that can destroy your destiny or your spiritual life is not one to toy with at all.

Many years ago, l encounter a woman who was a senior official of an Examination Council in West Africa. She was married with children that were doing well. Just looking at her everything seemed normal, but she was a habitation of demons. She came to me one day and said, “Thus saith the Lord, you are my husband”. I said, “That can’t be l’m happily married, l’m a man of God, and you know l am committed to a life of holiness”. She said, “You are joking, l’m going to marry you”. When we couldn’t handle it anymore, the matter was reported to the police and a restraining order was issued against her, to no avail. One day, l went to London on an official assignment and didn’t tell anybody l was coming. Just as l entered the house where l was to stay, the phone rang and this same woman said, “Welcome, l have been waiting for you. I know where you are staying, and l will be there in fifteen minutes”. I told her the British police would be waiting for her at the door. Maybe because she knew there was a police station less than two minutes’ walk away from the house, she did not come, but she kept on calling. Now, ll knew that l had a big problem and l needed to be violent. I went on my knees and cried to God to help me. God told me, ” Son, you know the meaning of whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven, whatever you loose on earth is loosed in heaven. You know whatever you allow is allowed, whatever you forbid is forbidden”. I said, “Yes Lord”, then He said, “It’s up to you”. On hearing that l said, “Okay, then the mountain must move!” and it did move. If l hadn’t been violent, that mountain might have killed me.

KEY POINT

Don’t handle anything that can destroy your destiny lightly.

HYMN 22: SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER

1. God, our help in ages past,

Our hope for years to come,

Our shelter from the stormy blast,

And our eternal home.

2 Under the shadow of Thy throne

Thy saints have dwelt secure;

Sufficient is Thine arm alone,

And our defence is sure.

3 Before the hills in order stood,

Or earth received her frame,

From everlasting Thou art God,

To endless years the same.

4 A thousand ages in Thy sight

Are like an evening gone;

Short as the watch that ends the night

Before the rising sun.

5 Time, like an ever-rolling stream,

Bears all its sons away;

They fly forgotten, as a dream

Dies at the opening day.

6 O God, our help in ages past,

Our hope for years to come,

Be Thou our guard while life shall last,

And our eternal home.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 22ND 2022 WHEN TEMPTATION KEEPS KNOCKING

MEMORISE: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8

READ: 1 Peter 5:8 -10

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

MESSAGE

The devil is a crafty being. When he senses the glorious destiny of a person, he does everything in his power to ensure that the fellow does not fulfill that destiny. He, however, cannot succeed except the person commits a sin and God leaves the person alone. When he heard the dream that Joseph had, he knew that the boy had a glorious destiny, so he planned for his brothers to kill him, but somehow God intervened and he was sold into slavery. The devil then arranged for a woman to tempt him, and he said that the woman should be no other person than Mrs. Potiphar who lived in the same house with him and was not under his control. Everywhere he turned to in the house, the madam was there smiling at him. Many people have lost their destiny this way. The devil arranges for a woman close to them to keep tempting them continually until they fell. The devil did not use a woman they only saw once in a while, he used the one they would see every day because he wanted to take no chances in ensuring that they wouldn’t fulfill their glorious destiny. If that temptation keeps knocking, recognize that the devil is up to something and run for your life like Joseph did.

There hath no temptation you but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that he is able but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that he may be able to bear it.

1 Corinthians 10:13

Maybe there is a man or lady eyeing you somewhere around your office, or maybe you are constantly tempted to visit pornographic sites; no matter how intense the temptation is, God has provided a way of escape from it. The only problem is that your attention is on the temptation and not on the way of escape. There are people who can help you get out of that tempting situation. There are decisions you can take, though drastic, to free yourself from those temptations. There is always a way of escape.

Don’t be too shy to ask for help; don’t be too timid to do what has to be done in order not to fail. You must escape the temptation in order to reach your goal. From experience, l can tell you that the more of those temptation you overcome, the closer you will get to your goal.

ACTION POINT

What is that temptation that has been knocking on the door of your heart? Take a bold step today to ensure that you don’t fall for it anymore.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 21ST 2022 BECAUSE YE ASK NOT

MEMORISE: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:8

READ: Matthew 7:7 -11

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

MESSAGE

Many at times Christians give themselves headache over what should not be a problem at all. You have a Father in heaven who is the Almighty and owns the entire world and all that is in it, yet you bother your brain so much about your needs when you can easily ask Him and He will give you whatever you need. Many problems have lingered for too long because instead of praying, the fellow involved is worrying. The latter part of James 5:16 says:

….The effectual fervent prayers for a righteous man availeth much.

It did not say the effectual worries will avail much. In fact, Matthew 6:27, Jesus Christ said expressly that worrying will do absolutely nothing for you.

Don’t burden yourself with what you cannot carry; ask God and He will carry your troubles for you. He has put no limit to how much you can ask of Him. In John 16:24, He said you should ask so your joy may be full. Inversely, this also means that you cannot be filled with joy until you have asked Him.

Many people get angry with God unnecessarily. They would have gone to every human being they can reach and gotten frustrated, then turn to God and ask, “Why me?” Many Christians burden themselves so much because they don’t know how much God loves them and how willing He is to give them whatever they ask for. He loved you so much that He sacrificed His son for your sake, what is it that you can ask Him that will be greater than that? Why would He hold back anything from you when He did not withhold His only begotten Son from you?

He the spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things!

Romans 8:32

He has given you a blank cheque Instead of worrying and jumping around looking for solutions to your problems, go on your knees and write in the blank cheque which is found in Matthew 7:7-8.

ACTION POINT

Ask God for whatever you want

HYMN 21: STANDING ON THE PROMISES OF GOD

1. Standing on the promises of Christ my King,

Through eternal ages let His praises ring,

Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,

Standing on the promises of God.

o Refrain:

Standing, standing,

Standing on the promises of God my Savior;

Standing, standing,

I’m standing on the promises of God.

2. Standing on the promises that cannot fail,

When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,

By the living Word of God I shall prevail,

Standing on the promises of God.

3. Standing on the promises I now can see

Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;

Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,

Standing on the promises of God.

4. Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,

Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,

Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,

Standing on the promises of God.

5. Standing on the promises I cannot fall,

List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call,

Resting in my Savior as my all in all,

Standing on the promises of God.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 20TH 2022 ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ll

MEMORISE: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

READ: 2 Kings 2:15 -22

15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

16 And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.

17 And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.

18 And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?

19 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.

20 And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.

21 And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.

22 So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.

MESSAGE

In 2 Kings 2:19-22, the men of Jericho had been suffering under a curse for years. Barrenness and death were the order of the day. Everything looked good on the surface, but underneath, there was a lot of sorrow and decadence, yet they kept quiet. Their hope for restoration seemed lost when Elijah, who had been around them for a while, was taken away with the chariot of fire. Fortunately for them, Elisha had received the double portion of Elijah’s spirit. The moment they saw that he had Elijah’s spirit in him, they cried for help. That day, the yoke that had, lingered for generations, was destroyed.

If you have been postponing going on a retreat where you can be alone with God to discuss a negative generational pattern you have noticed in your family, a time may come when it would be too late, and your children would have to battle the same problem. When you have had enough you will go to a solitary place and really cry to the Almighty God in desperation saying, “Lord, l will not let you go unless you change this evil pattern for good”.

The prayer of ‘enough is enough’ is one that you do all night in private where you can take any position you want without bothering who is looking at you.

One of my sons-in-the-Lord came to me one day and said he was living in the same house with a witchdoctor, and she was affecting his work negatively as he was not making any progress. I said, “Why don’t you eject the woman, are you not supposed to be a prayer warrior?” He said “No, l am a tenant, just like she is, just pray for me that l make progress at work, and everyone can have their own way”. After a while, l didn’t see my son until he showed up one day with rashes all over his body. He said that the witchdoctor had had him accused of robbery and arrested. After some days in detention, during which time mosquitoes had feasted very well on him, the policemen saw that this man was always singing and quoting the Bible, so they released him. I told him, “l said you should remove this fellow, you refused now she is moving you. The next time she moves you, you won’t come back”. That day he prayed, and within three days, the woman relocated. Stop postponing your freedom because the one keeping you in bondage may strike so hard that you won’t be able to recover. I hope you are ready to pray now.

PRAYER POINT

Anything, anyone, any force that is disturbing me and my family, today, let the fire of God fall and consume them in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 6: HO MY COMRADES SEE THE SIGNAL

1. Ho, my comrades, see the signal, waving in the sky!

Reinforcements now appearing, victory is nigh.

Refrain:

“Hold the fort, for I am coming,”

Jesus signals still;

Wave the answer back to heaven,

“By Thy grace we will.”

2. See the mighty host advancing,

Satan leading on,

Mighty ones around us falling,

courage almost gone!

3. See the glorious banner waving,

Hear the trumpet blow!

In our Leader’s Name we

triumph over every foe.

4. Fierce and long the battle rages,

but our help is near,

Onward comes our great Commander,

cheer, my comrades, cheer! And

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 18TH 2022 BENEFITS OF WITNESSING lll

MEMORISE: And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Matthew 24:14

READ: Romans 8:19 -23

19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

MESSAGE

Every athlete on the racetrack is always looking forward to reaching the finish line. The Heavenly race is not a sprint but a marathon. We have been looking forward to the coming of Christ now for more than two thousand years. I, in particular, have been running this race for almost 50 years now, and l am still running. I don’t know how long you have been running, but l am quite sure that you are looking forward earnestly to the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Well, there is a way you can make Him return quickly – sharing the gospel of Christ and winning souls into the Kingdom of God. Matthew 24:14 says ” And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”

The Bible reading for today says that all Children of God are waiting earnestly for that day when we will be transformed and reign with our Father in heaven, but the only way to hasten the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ is to preach the gospel. Until people who have not heard the gospel hear it, Jesus will not come. If you want Him to return quickly so that you can reign with Him in paradise (that is of course, if you are sure that you will make it to heaven), then you will preach the gospel. I am really looking forward to His return so l will win souls even in the remote parts of the world. I have been to a country to win souls where they were so few in the whole country, everybody knew one another. Their prison inmates were allowed to go home on weekends to visit their families and come back the next Monday. That is how small the country is. I will go anywhere, as long as there is someone there who will hear about Christ and can become saved, l am ready to go.

Now, it may amaze some people that Jesus has not come yet because you think the whole world has heard about Him. I was preaching to a group of Ambassadors about God one day; after preaching for more than 30 minutes, one of them asked, “What is God?” I realized then that he didn’t understand all that l had been saying since. There are still people out there who haven’t heard about Christ, and we will keep waiting for His coming if we don’t go out there to preach to them. Until they hear, He will not return. Thus, we must reach the whole world for Him if we want Him to return soon.

ACTION POINT

Look for new people to tell about Jesus Christ.

HYMN 28: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

When we walk with the Lord

in the light of his word,

what a glory he sheds on our way!

While we do his good will,

he abides with us still,

and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way

to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2 Not a burden we bear,

not a sorrow we share,

but our toil he doth richly repay;

not a grief or a loss,

not a frown or a cross,

but is blest if we trust and obey.

3 But we never can prove

the delights of his love

until all on the altar we lay;

for the favor he shows,

for the joy he bestows,

are for them who will trust and obey.

4 Then in fellowship sweet

we will sit at his feet,

or we’ll walk by his side in the way;

what he says we will do,

where he sends we will go;

never fear, only trust and obey.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL 2022 SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 17TH 2022 BENEFITS OF WITNESSING II

MEMORISE:

“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” – (John 15:16)

READ: Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV)

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost;

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

MESSAGE:

We will consider another benefit of witnessing today and this will be drawn from our memory verse taken from John 15:16;

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

All your prayers will be answered if you are a soul winner! Imagine you owning a business, and having a son who keeps bringing in new customers to help expand that business; is there any amount that the boy would ask from you that would be too big? In fact, you are likely to buy him a car before he even asks. That is exactly how God feels about people who win souls for Him. The Bible says there is always joy in heaven whenever a sinner repents (Luke 15:7).

God is so passionate about mankind that He throws a party anytime someone crosses from darkness into His marvellous light. He is so excited that He throws a party in heaven for each soul that is saved. Imagine then how He would feel about the fellow who preached to that soul. You can be sure that even though the fellow is not in Heaven to partake of the feast, God would send his own portion of the goodies to Him on earth and such a person would be very dear to God. That is why if you are a committed soul winner, all your prayers would be answered speedily.

I want you to take note however that in John 15:16, He said if the person wins souls and the souls remain, in other words, if you follow up the new converts until they attain full maturity in Christ, then all your prayers would be answered.

It is not enough to just preach, lead people to Christ and forget about them; you must follow them up with phone calls, Bible Study meetings and so on to ensure that they don’t go back to the world. You must keep them in your prayers always to ensure that you are shielding them from the tricks of the devil to take them back to the world. If you do these, then there is nothing you ask from God that He will not give to you.

ACTION POINT:

Preach the gospel and follow up with new converts to ensure they do not return to the world.
