OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL MONDAY, NOVEMBER 26 2018- THE SECRETS OF LIFE

Memorise: The secret things belong unto the LOD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29
Read: Daniel 2:25-28
25 Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.
26 The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?
27 Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;
28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 29-30, John 3:22-4:6

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

Life is crowded with a lot of mystery, and the secrets of these mysteries are in the hands of the One who created the world. Many times, a lack of knowledge or understanding of these mysteries not only brings trouble to an individual, but also spells doom for his or her destiny. This is why some people desperately and foolishly go after fortune tellers, stargazers and magicians who claim to have a “third eye”. However, if you are genuine child of God, I congratulate you, because our Father in heaven is the custodian of all the mysteries and secrets of life.
“The secret things belong unto the LOD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law,” Deuteronomy 29:29
It is pleasant to read the words of the above scripture. However, you must not lose sight of the great responsibility contained in it. god evelas secrets and mysteries to us so that we can be in a vantage position to do His will. In Matthew 13:10, the disciples of Jesus came to him and asked. “Why are you speaking to the people in parables?” Jesus answered them in Matthew 13:11, saying:
“…Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.”
This truth accounts for the type of life the early disciples lived. They were able to turn their world over to God by preaching the mysteries of the gospel. Daniel and his colleagues also had access to the mysteries of heaven, so much so that they could reveal and interpret a dream that was forgotten by a king. None of the best astrologers of their time could unfold these mysteries, even though they tried. Take note of the declaration made by these children of God in Daniel 2:28a:
“But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be inm the latter days.”
Beloved, if you want to have access to the secrets and mysteries of life, you must be ready to live by the commandments of God. God will always conceal His secrets and the mysteries of life from those who will make mockery or merchandise of them. However, He reveals these secrets to those who are genuine in their relationship with Him, like He id with Abraham (Genesis 18:17).

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 25 2018- MERCY VERSUS JUDGEMENT

Memorise: He, that bring often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy

Bible in one year: Ezekiel 27-28, John 3:1-21

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

Our God is a holy God. At the same time, He is Love. From time to time, the holiness of God and the love of God may clash. His holiness will direct Him to go one way while His love will direct Him to go the other way. These two divine attributes may therefore seem to be at odds with each other. When the love of God wins, we obtain mercy, but when His holiness triumphs, we get judgment. Many times, God’s holiness deliberately allows His love to keep winning. Why? Because it knows that it is already settled that without holiness, no man shall see God (Hebrews 12:14). Our deeds often deserve God’s judgment, but the love of God triumphs, and we obtain mercy. One thing is certain: it is because the love of God wins that we are able to see another day. Thanks God for His mercies, because they are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). Love is optimistic, always saying to God, “Don’t lose hope in him; he will get better; let’s give him another day to repent and become holy.” However, a day will come when God’s judgment will take its course.
On the basis of the scripture that says “the mercy of God endures forever”, some people make several ridiculous claims. Some of them say “I can do whatever I like; the mercy of God that has helped me thus far will keep forgiving me forever.” Some even prepare their confessional plea before they commit sin! They say to God, “Please forgive me for this lie I am about to tell.” God’s love grants us access to His mercy does not mean that God is stupid. Yes, the mercy of God endures forever, but not for those who do not fear Him. Psalm 103:17-18 says:
“But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children; To such as keep his covenant, and to those tat remember his commandment to do them.”
Those who fear God are wise enough to know that any pleasure derived from sin is actually poisoned. If you fear Him, you will know that although He is a very good friend, He can also be a very dangerous enemy. If He decides to fight you, no one can rescue you from His hands. It is folly for a child to a child to keep annoying his or her father just because he or she was forgiven yesterday. One day, the father will turn to that child with a rod, and because the child has been steadily building up annoyance in the heart of the father, that rod will do some serious havoc. I pray that God will touch your heart and take away every appetite for sin in you in Jesus Name.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 24 2018- `DIVINE PROMOTION

Memorise: For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. Psalm 75:6
Read: Psalm 75:5-7
11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 24-26, John 2

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

The title of our reflection today is “Divine Promotion”, because experience has shown that there are evil ways of getting promoted. However, promotion gotten through diabolical means does not last, and neither does it do any good to its beneficiary. The history of mankind confirms that getting promoted diabolically always has its adverse effects, so much so that its beneficiary would regret it in the end. A classic example of someone who wickedly promoted himself to be king was Macbeth in one of the Shakespearean plays. Although he got to the throne, he never enjoyed it. Also, the story of Absalom who deviously stole the hearts of his father’s subjects to become king confirms that only those who are divinely promoted are actually promoted (2 Samuel 15 – 18). His diabolical climb to the top tragically led to his untimely death. His body was tossed into a pit, and a very great heap of stones was placed upon him. Your story will not end in tragedy in Jesus’ Name.
A good example of person divinely promoted is King Solomon. There was no manipulation of any kind by him to be king. His anxiety towards the throne and its responsibilities confirms that he did not see himself as qualified. It was God who qualified him. When God calls you, He knows that you are not qualified; it is His mercy that qualifies you and begins the work of reconstructing your life to meet His standard. Revealing Solomon’s mindset, 2 Chronicles 1:7-10 says:“In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee. And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead. Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude. Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?”
Here we see gratitude in the one that is divinely promoted. Solomon saw his elevation to the throne as an act of God. He celebrated the faithfulness of God to his father, because by his ascension to the throne, a royal dynasty was established for the first time in the history of Israel. We also see humility in Solomon – he asked for wisdom because he knew he lacked the wisdom and understanding needed to manage his divine promotion. Those who diabolically scheme their way to a position of authority never perform well, and their end is always disastrous. Beloved, what is that promotion you desire? Wait for divine intervention and don’t manipulate anything. God will promote you in such a way that will bring glory to His holy Name.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

The bible says that The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.Proverbs 10:22. Any promotion or blessing that is acquire by evil manipulation surely have consequences and it always lead to destruction. We pray that God will give us promotion that will be to the glory of God. Awesome devotional by Pstor E.A Adeboye, May God continues to enrich him for us.

Prayer Point:
Father, I wait patiently for promotion that is facilitated by You alone; please promote me.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23 2018- FINANCIAL BREAKTHROUGH

Memorise: If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years is pleasures. Job 36:11
Read: Deuteronomy 28:11-12
11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 23, John 1:29-51

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

In Deuteronomy 15:11. The Holy Spirit revealed that there would always be poor people in the land. The Lord also confirmed this in Matthew 26:11. Nevertheless, according to Deuteronomy 28:1-12, we also understand that the will of God is for His children to live in abundance and even lend to nations. So while the poor will always be in the land, the wealthy will also be there always. The choice of remaining poor or becoming wealthy is therefore yours to make. To help you make your choice, remember Proverbs 22:7 says that the borrower is servant to lender, and that the rich will always rule over the poor. Do you want to be the ruler or the ruled? Do you want to be a lender or borrower? Do you want to spend the rest of your life as a servant? The choice is all yours. The sad thing is, many Christians are even afraid to prosper. This is a lie from the pit of hell. If this is a notion you have lived with, you have to discard it immediately, or else the devil will continually use it as a weapon to hold you back from prospering. You may be the poorest man in the world, but if you are not born again and living holy, you will go to hell. You can also be the richest man in the world and still make heaven: provided you are born again, living holy and serving God. Moreover, it is God’s will for you to prosper, so don’t insult God by choosing to be poor. There is no humility in being poor. A poor man is a servant and I refuse to be a servant. Nothing in poverty will bring glory to God. god cannot be glorified by your wearing rags. God is not glorified by you being a tenant till you die. If your Father has mansions in heaven, you should at least have a bungalow here on earth. He has all it takes to prosper you.
Now that you know God wants you to prosper, you may be wondering what you have to do to be prosperous. Very simple: be a friend of God. It’s as simple as that. If you know who will help you to succeed, wisdom demands tat you draw near such a person. Secondly, you must fear God. Psalm 25:14 reveals that God’s secrets are with those who fear Him. If you fear God, He will reveal the secrets of wealth to you. Also, you must meditate on the word of God day and night, so that you can be like a tree planted by the rivers of water. It is no enough to be willing to prosper; you must also be willing to obey God. There is one other point that is very important: many Christians want to prosper but they don’t want to work. God is not a fraudulent person; He will give you the ideas and tell you what to do, but nothing will happen or change if you don’t actually do what He says. If you don’t want to work hard, then don’t ask God for financial breakthrough. There is a difference between magic and miracles. My Father is a miracle worker and not a magician. Are you ready to prosper?

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 22 2018- DANGERS OF IGNORANCE

Memorise: Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Ephesians 4:18
Read: Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 21 – 22, John 1:1-28

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

Ignorance means a lack of knowledge. It is a state of being uninformed, and this is a very dangerous thing. People sometimes say that ignorance is bliss, but this is very wrong. Knowledge is power, while ignorance on the other hand is death. It is what you don’t know that can kill you. A person who doesn’t know how dangerous a snake is can decide to stroke its beautiful body to his or her own peril. A worker who fails to learn about the requirements peculiar to his or her job will in no time lose that job. Those who don’t learn about what to eat and what not to eat will one day poison themselves. As a business person, never invest your money in what you know nothing about. Don’t be in a haste to invest in anything or anyone. Rather, take your time to carry out due diligence so as to avoid losing the resources God had deposited in your care.
To be ignorant about God and spiritual life is also very dangerous. The worst end result of other forms of ignorance is physical death. However, to be ignorant about the things of God can lead to eternal damnation. Apart from the things they hear from pastors’ sermons, many Christians have never really sat down with the Bible with a desire to learn one new thing about God. Thus, ignorance has kept many people at the back side of their breakthroughs. You cannot demand for something you do not know exists. Instead of being ignorant, we are expected to be like the Jews in Berea, of who Acts 17:11 says:
“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
Laziness is one of the major reasons why people are ignorant. Some people are just too lazy to explore the word of God in order to know God by themselves. 2 Timothy 2:15 says:
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
There is no knowledge as impactful as that which you research by yourself. Silly arguments and fallacies stem from lazy and ignorant Christians who have not taken out time to properly study God’s word. Every Christian who wants to be armed with the right knowledge of God has to be diligent and consciously make out time to study the Bible so as to know God more.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

Truly ignorance to Spiritual matter is a deadly disease that is ready to kill its victim anytime. That is why Apostle Paul said That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.Do you think you have known enough about God? Decide to know more and you will be surprised what you don’t know. God bless Pastor E.A Adeboye for this devotional.
Key Point: The extent of your knowledge depends on how much studying you are ready to do.

Hymn 15
1. Nearer, my God, to Thee;
Nearer to Thee;
E’en though it be a cross
That raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee.
2. Though, like a wanderer,
The sun gone down,
Darkness comes over me,
My rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I’d be
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee.
3. There let me see the sight,
An open heaven;
All that Thou sendest me,
In mercy given;
Angels to beckon me
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee.
4. Then, with my waking thoughts
Bright with thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs
Bethel I’ll raise,
So by my woes to be
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21ST 2018- REJOICE WITH THOSE WHO REJOICE

Memorise: Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Romans 12:15
Read: Romans 12:15-16
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 19-20, Luke 24:36-53

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

1. It’s not hard to mourn with those who mourn. It is relatively easy to feel the loss of grieving person and to express genuine sadness for their loss. Job 2:11-13 gives us an example of what it means to mourn with those who mourn. It says: “Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him. And when they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven. So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.”
2.These verses of scripture show that it’s a part of human nature to mourn with those who mourn. There are even times when you do not personally know the person who has experienced a great loss, but after hearing their story, you become very sad. However, it is also part of human nature to be selfish.
3. A natural man is very satisfied as long as no one around him gets anything better than what he has. Every person wants the best for himself or herself. When that best goes to someone else, it becomes very hard to be genuinely happy for that person. This is a very dangerous human trait that every Christian must not allow in his or her life. The nature of God that we bear does not have such character trait. His instruction to us in today’s memory verse clearly shows what He expects of us in such circumstances, and we should take it very seriously.
3. How can we rejoice with those who rejoice? First, you have to stop comparing yourself with others. The moment you start looking at others and comparing what they have with what you have, you will soon meet with destruction.
4. In Matthew 20:1-6, Jesus told a very interesting story of several men hired at different hours of the day. The men who were hired first were very satisfied with being paid a penny each. However, at the end of the work day, they were unhappy when they received this exact amount. Why? It was because they were comparing themselves with the other hired men who had worked for shorter hours and got paid the same amount as them. The master told them to take what had been given to them and go their own way, rather than focus negatively on what he had chosen to do for the others.
5. Secondly, pray for those you envy. When you genuinely pray for someone frequently and long enough, it becomes hard to nurse any hard feelings towards them.
6. Finally, be thankful at all times. Always remember that there are people in worse situations compared to you; therefore be grateful and content always.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

We must genuinely rejoice with each other as believers. Celebrating with other must indeed go beyond eye service or hypocrism. May every spirit if wickedness and envy be destroyed in us in Jesus name. May God continually bless Pastor E.A Adeboye for this devotional in Jesus name.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: TEUSDAY, NOVEMBER 20 2018- GREAT EXPECTATIONS

Memorise: For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever. Psalm 9:18
Read: Mark 5:24-29
24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 17 – 18, Luke 24:13-35

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

It is amazing that some people go to the house of God without any expectation. Believe me sincerely, there are regular attendees of church services who for a very long time have conditioned themselves to be onlookers. They listen to fantastic testimonies and applaud the testifiers. They even help to spread the news of the great things God is doing in their churches, but they never experience any miracle themselves because they have no expectation at all, to talk less of great expectations. You will not be numbered among such people in Jesus Name. as the poor in spirit, God assures believers that their expectations will be realized. Psalm 9:18 says:
“For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.”
Nevertheless, only the poor who have expectations can experience a better future, because their expectations will come to pass. The good news for you today is that your expected miracle is nearer to you than you can ever imagine.
Today’s Bible reading narrates the story of a woman with great expectations. She had been plagued with the issue of blood for twelve years and had spent all that she had on medication to no avail. When she heard that the Great physician was in her neighborhood, she pressed through the crowd to meet Him with great expectations of miraculous healing. She expected and believed that Jesus would do for her what the physicians could not do, and so she found her way to Jesus and touched the hem of His garment. Mark 5:29 tells us the result of her great expectations:
“And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up: and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.”
Beloved, what do you expect from the Lord today? How great is your expectation? Trust in the Lord like this woman did and just as her expectation did not fail, your expectation will not perish. This was also the testimony of the lame man at the gate of the temple (Acts 3:1-8). The Bible says he had expectations, but as God would have it, he got more than he bargained for. Indeed, his expectation was the foundation for the miracle he experienced. Acts 3:5 says:“And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.”
Are you expecting something from the Lord today? In proverbs 23:17-18, the Lord says to you:
“Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long. For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.”

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

This is an eye opener to as many that fall into this category. Let us be awaken in the Spirit and truly connect to this Unlimited God. The one whose resources can never be exhausted. What are your expectations from God? Do you consider it to be so great? Relax God said in His word? Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? Thank you Pastor E.A Adeboye for reminding us. God bless you sir.

Prayer Point:
Father, please don’t let my great expectation be cut short in Jesus’ name.
Hymn 10
1. My faith look up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!
2. May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh. May my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire!
3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.
4. When ends life’s transient dream,
When death’s cold, sullen stream shall o’er me roll;
Blest Savior, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
Oh, bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul!

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19 2018- LOOK & LIVE

Memorise: And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: John 3:14
Read: Numbers 21:5-9, John 3:14-15
And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
6 And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against thee; pray unto the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
8 And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
John 3:14-15
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 16, Luke 23:44-24:12

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

Our God is a God of purpose, and He demonstrated this through the life of our Lord Jesus Christ. There was purpose attached to everything about Jesus when He was here on earth. Ending His mission in Jerusalem, the location of His crucifixion, and the type of death He died: all these have deep spiritual significance which the wise will seek to understand and enjoy the benefits attached (Hebrews 13:11-13, Galatians 3:13-14). There are several reasons why Jesus had to die on a cross, and one of these is so that we can look to Him on the cross. Looking unto Jesus with the eyes of faith as He hands on the cross has many benefits. One of these benefits is that when you see Him agonizing on the cross of Calvary for your sins, your attitude and commitment to Him as a serious-minded Christian will be revitalized. A hymn writer once wrote that when he beheld the cross where the King of glory was crucified, he counted all that seem gain to him as dung. The allure of the world will lose its value to you when you look to the cross of Calvary.
The experience of the children of Israel in today’s Bible reading was a shadow of what we would experience under the New Testament. When the Israelites became stubborn in the wilderness and God sent deadly serpents to them, a lot of them died. As usual, they cried unto God and God instructed Moses to make a fiery serpent of brass to be hung on a pole. Numbers 21:9 tells us the result of this saying:
“And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a hole and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”
In John 3:14, the Lord declared to us that His death on the cross was foreshadowed by this hanging of the brass serpent of a pole in the wilderness. How amazing! This means that coming to Calvary and looking to Jesus on the cross can produce physical healing and spiritual salvation in the life of a person. Therefore, for anyone who has been bitten by the serpent of sin, if you look to Jesus on the cross of Calvary and believe in Him, you will live and not die. You will not only experience abundant life on earth, you will also have eternal life. Beloved, in whatever adverse circumstances you may find yourself, whether physical or spiritual, Jesus has paid for your healing in full. Therefore, come to the place of His cross in submission and look up to Him for salvation and healing. Accept Him, not only as your Savior, but also as your Lord. Let Him begin to direct the affairs of your life from today. It is interesting to note that some children of Israel refused to look up to the serpent of brass, and they died in their thousands. Only those who looked lived. Don’t be numbered among the unbelievers who died in their sin of unbelief.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

we should always look unto Him, God is the only one who can eliminate our shame and disgrace. Psalms 34:5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. Glory to God for Pastor E.A Adeboye.

Action Point:
Take your eyes off your circumstance and look to Jesus today; He will surely come to your aid.
1. Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise
2. Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.
3. Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.
4. Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose,
Every power as Thou shalt choose.
5. Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart; it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne
6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for Thee

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18TH 2018- AN ALTAR OF MEMORIAL

Memorise: After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 1 Corinthians 11:25
Read: Exodus 17:14-16, Luke 22:17-20
14 And the Lord said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
15 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:
16 For he said, Because the Lord hath sworn that the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 13-15, Luke 23:18-43

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

An altar could mean a lot of things depending on who built it and the purpose for which it was built. Here in today’s Bible reading, we realize that an altar might not only to worship and sacrifice to the Almighty God, but also to serve as a memorial. Man is susceptible to forgetting what the Lord has done in time past, and for this reason, an altar can be built as a means of remembering God’s works and faithfulness never forget Him, His ways and His works (Deuteronomy 8:18, Exodus 20:8, Psalm 105:5-6). May you and your children never forget God or what He has done for you in Jesus’ name.
Not only do altars of memorial bring us to remember what God has done in the past, they also bring God to remember His promises and covenant with His people, especially when they are at crossroads. After securing victory over the Amalekites, Moses built an altar for the peculiar reason stated in Exodus 17:15-16 “And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah nissi: For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”
Generations after, we see God remembering what He had sworn to do against the Amalekites. 1 Samuel 15:2 says:
“Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, hoe he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.”
I pray that God will remember His covenant and promises to you today in Jesus’ Name. Beloved, as Christians, we need to build memorial altars. One classic example of a memorial altar is the altar of the Holy Communion. Our Lord Jesus Christ instructed us to continually partake of it in remembrance of Him. When we do this, we remind Him of His finished work on the cross of Calvary, and this activates His power against anything that negates this finished in our lives. Do you partake of this meal? Do you call in your home by sharing this meal with your family? If you have not been doing so, begin to do it from today and watch God arise to enforce His covenant over your life.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

God keeps His promises even when we become unfaithful to Him or pretend not to remember His instructions. May we find mercy in His sight even as we retrace our steps back to Him and do His will in Jessus name. May God continually bless and uphold Pastor E.A Adeboye in Jesus name.
Action Point:
Call God to remembrance over anything in your life and family that negates the benefit of the sacrifice that Jesus Christ offered with His Body and Blood.
HYMN
1. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come
Our shelter from the stormy blast
And our eternal home.
2. Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defence is sure.
3. Before the hills in order stood
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same
4. A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.
5. Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
Thy fly forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.
6. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while life shall last,
And our eternal home.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17 2018- ARISE AND EAT

Memorise: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1
Read: 1 Kings 19:4-8
4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
5 And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
7 And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 11 – 12, Luke 22:63-23:17

AS REVEALED BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE IN TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL

Our God is the Compassionate Father that everyone should desire to have. He is the strength of those who have no strength. Speaking about His compassionate nature, Isaiah 40:28-29 says:
“Hast thou not known? Has thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength>”
It is however unfortunate that we allow the devil to deceive us into thinking that our Father is not as loving and compassionate as He says He is, especially in challenging times. The devil also maligns God in the area of His commandments. We need to understand that His commandments are for our own good. When God commanded Adam not to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Adam did not realize that it was for his good (Genesis 2:16-17). The devil deceived Eve into thinking that God gave this commandment out of wickedness. Even today, the devil is still in the business of attacking the integrity of God and His word through different false doctrines, but the devil is a liar. May you not fall victim to the devil’s deception that maligns God’s character in Jesus’ name.
In today’s Bible text, we read about the travails of Elijah, a great prophet of God. While he was on the run for his dear life, he became so exhausted that he asked God to kill him! Discouragement and fatigue caused some fundamental things to go wrong in Elijah’s mindset here. First and foremost, God does not kill without a just cause. Secondly, He is not an ingrate: how could He kill a useful and effective vessel that had been fighting valiantly on His side? God will not do that. If you are in this same situation Elijah was in, the Almighty God asked me to tell you that instead of killing you, He will rather encourage you, just as He encouraged Elijah. In his state of despondency, Elijah slept off, but before he woke up, there was a cake baked on coals and cruse of water waiting for him to eat and drink. Elijah ate and slept off again, only for God’s angel to wake him up a second time, instructing him to “Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee” (1 Kings 19:7). Our Father is so caring!
Beloved, no matter what the devil may be telling you about our Father in heaven, I stand to debunk it in the Name of our loving Saviour: it is not true. Our God is good, all the time. Believe only what the scriptures say about Him and it shall be well with you.

SHORT REFLECTION BY THE LIGHT POINTERS

What is you current situation that has made you to make up your mind that the solution is given up on God. Stop it, our God is able, willing and ready to pick from that miry clay and give you a new beginning, a new song in Jesus name. You can also be encouraged just like Elijah, all you need is to arise and eat and rejoice in the Lord because it might seems over in your physical eyes. But in the eye of the Lord it is just the beginning.

Action Point:
Pray for God’s encouragement for all missionaries suffering discouragement and despondency
Hymn 8
1. The Great Physician now is near,
The sympathizing Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus!
Chorus:
Sweetest note in seraph song;
Sweetest name on mortal tongue;
Sweetest carol ever sung:
Jesus, blessed Jesus!
2. Your many sins are all forgv’n
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus;
The veil ‘twixt you and God is riven,
Redemption wrought by Jesus.
3. All glory to the dying Lamb!
I now believe in Jesus;
I love the blessed Saviour’s name,
I love the name of Jesus.
4. His name dispels my guilt and fear,
No other name but Jesus;
Oh, how my soul delight to hear
The precious name of Jesus!
