OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY 5TH APRIL 2022 WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER BACKSLIDE II

MEMORISE:
But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. Ezekiel 18:24

READ: Ezekiel 18:20 -32
20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.

23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

25 Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?

26 When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.

27 Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.

28 Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

29 Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?

30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.

31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

MESSAGE
Another reason I am determined never to backslide is that if I do, the record of everything I have ever done for God would be erased. The Bible says in Ezekiel 18:24:

But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

It does not matter how far you have gone in your Christian race, how many souls you have won for God or how many Churches you have planted; the moment you become a backslider, everything you have done before would not be mentioned. It means one fellow can serve God all his life and then backslide just one month before he dies and he would end up in hell. Don’t you want to make it to heaven, live in your glorious mansion and see the Lord Jesus Christ whom you have served for so long? Why would you let one little temptation deny you of that glorious experience and make you end up in the hands of the devil?

In case you are not aware, there will be many evangelists in hell; some church workers and even ministers will end up in hell. If you don’t believe me read Matthew 7:21-23. I pray you will not be one of such, in Jesus’ name.
What is the use of serving God so much here on earth and still ending up in the same place that unbelievers will end up in? You had better put aside every sin that draws you back in your Christian race and face God squarely.
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
Hebrews 12:1

What is that sin that is so alluring to you? Believe me honestly, it is not as valuable as your soul. Protect your soul and run away from sin.

KEY POINT
Nothing is worth losing your salvation over

HYMN 20: ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS
1 Onward, Christian soldiers,
marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
going on before!
Christ, the royal Master,
leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
see his banner go!

Refrain:
Onward, Christian soldiers,
marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
going on before!

2 At the sign of triumph
Satan’s host doth flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers,
on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver
at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices,
loud your anthems raise!

3 Like a mighty army
moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading
where the saints have trod;
We are not divided;
all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine,
one in charity.

4 Onward, then, ye people,
join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices
in the triumph song;
Glory, laud, and honor,
unto Christ the King;
This thro’ countless ages
men and angels sing.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL MONDAY 4TH APRIL 2022 WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER BACKSLIDE 1

MEMORISE: And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Luke 9:62

READ: 2 Peter 2:20 -22
20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

MESSAGE
There are several reasons every Christian should pray and work earnestly never to backslide. One of these is that anyone who strays from the path of righteousness will dwell in the congregation of the dead (Proverbs 21:16).

When we got born again, we were translated from the kingdom of darkness into light – we passed from death to life. To go back to the congregation of dead is a terrible thing that all Christians must do everything possible to avoid. Hebrews 10:38-39 states clearly that:

Now the just shall life by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

God has absolutely no pleasure in backslider. The moment a child of God backslides, he or she immediately becomes unfit to enter the Kingdom of God as we read in our memory verse today.

The moment you backslide, God says “You have lost the qualification required to enter into His kingdom”. The interesting thing about this is that once the devil sees that a person is displeasing God, he comes in and pushes the fellow to the point where he can make a mockery of him or her.
I know many people who backslid and first thought that they were free from all the ‘restrictions’ of the gospel but soon realized that they had become objects of mockery. Their end was indeed terrible.

The prodigal son for example backslid and thought he was free from his father’s rules and regulations, but he did not know that the devil was pushing him to the point where he would beg to eat food served to pigs. As for me, I am determined never to backslide.

If you are currently considering the pleasure of this world, remember that it is just a bait for the devil to get you. Hold fast that which you have in the Lord, so that someone else does not take your place in Christ (Revelation 3:11).

KEYPOINT
Backsliders may think they are having fun at first, but soon they will end up as objects of mockery for the devil.

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL SUNDAY 3RD APRIL 2022 DON’T WRITE YOURSELF OFF

MEMORISE: Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. Job 8:7

READ: Micah 7:7 -10
7 Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

9 I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

10 Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

MESSAGE
In Genesis 16:4, after Sarah’s maid had become pregnant for Abraham, she began to mock Sarah. She mocked Sarah because she left God out of the calculation. Though Sarah’s case looked impossible at the time, before long, she was carrying her own baby too. No matter how desperate your situation may be, nobody has the right to write you off yet. Just as they may be thinking of writing you off, the Almighty God will arise and change your situation for the better.

Someone once preached a message about the power of ‘yet’. He encouraged his congregation that whenever they want to answer a question that seems embarrassing, they should remember to add the word ‘yet’.
For example, if you are marriageable but not yet married, whenever you are asked, “Are married? Your answer should be “I am not married YET”. If you are asked, “Do you have a car?” when you don’t have one, simply respond “I don’t have a car YET”. This preacher went on to say that when you add the word ‘yet’ to your answer, you are asserting that the way things are now is not the same way they would be in the future. You are saying, in essence, “Don’t write me off; you just wait and see, my miracle will soon arrive”.

Beyond adding the word ‘yet’ when answering seemingly embarrassing questions, you must believe it yourself. You must ensure that you are not writing yourself off. You must ensure that you are seeing yourself going higher and not remaining in that situation. Ecclesiastes 9:4 tells us that as long as you are alive, there is hope. If God has kept you alive up to this moment, then He must have a great plan for you. Revelations 3:7 says that He has the key of David, so whatever He opens is opened and whatever He shuts is shut. He has not written you off, so no matter what anybody thinks, you will be great.

I remember when things were very tough for my family. My wife and I used to share just one small piece of ponmon (cow hide) to go with our meals, as it was the cheapest kind of meat. I would tell her back then, “Darling, things will not always be like this, you know? Our tomorrow will be alright”. Today, by the special grace of God, if we want to eat one cow per day, my God will provide it. Say to yourself, “Thing will get better. My tomorrow will be alright, in the mighty name of Jesus.”

KEYPOINT
Your tomorrow will be alright.

HYMN 14: NEARER MY GOD TO THEE
1 Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

2 Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
darkness be over me, my rest a stone;
yet in my dreams I’d be
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

3 There let the way appear, steps unto heaven;
all that thou sendest me, in mercy given;
angels to beckon me
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

4 Then, with my waking thoughts bright with thy praise,
out of my stony griefs Bethel I’ll raise;
so by my woes to be
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

5 Or if, on joyful wing cleaving the sky,
sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I fly,
still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL SATURDAY 2ND APRIL 2022 BY GOD’S GRACE

MEMORISE: Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1

READ: James 4:13 -16
13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

MESSAGE
One of the ways to know a true Christian is by what he or she says. When I see Christian talk about what they want to do or what they gave done without any reference to the grace of God, I wonder how strong their relationship with the Lord is, John 15:5 says: …for without me ye can do nothing.

Grace is a gift from God that can also be summarily described as ‘God’s help’. You need to understand that without grace -‘God’s Help’, you can do nothing. Even waking up in the morning is by the grace of God. You would therefore be taking the grace of God for granted when you begin to boast about the things you have done or that you plan to do without acknowledging the grace of God, which empowers you. In Luke 12:16-21, Jesus told the story of a rich man who had gathered a great harvest. In all that this man said, he did not acknowledge God who made that harvest possible. At the end of the day, all his boastings came to nought because he died that very night.

Beloved, please don’t take God’s grace for granted; it is only by His grace that you are alive today. It is only by His grace that you are alive today. It is only by His grace that you are where you are, what you are and have what you have. It does not matter how intelligent, strong or connected you are; if God were to withdraw His grace from you, you would soon realize that you can do nothing without Him.

*Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.*
Psalm 127:1

From 1 Corinthinas 3:6, we see that human efforts without God’s grace cannot yield results. Paul can plant, Apollos can water the plant, but the increase only comes from God. 1 Corithians 3:7 says specifically:
So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

When you want to talk about something you did, always say, “I did so and so by the grace of God”. When talking about something you plan to do, say, “I will do so and so by the grace of God”. Always acknowledge the grace of God in all you do and plan to do.

KEYPOINT
Without God we are nothing.

HYMN 10: JESUS MY LORD MY GOD MY ALLl
1 Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all,
hear me, blest Savior, when I call;
hear me, and from thy dwelling place
pour down the riches of thy grace.

Refrain:
Jesus, my Lord, I thee adore;
O make me love thee more and more.

2 Jesus, too late I thee have sought;
how can I love thee as I ought?
And how extol thy matchless fame,
the glorious beauty of thy name? [Refrain]

3 Jesus, what didst thou find in me
that thou hast dealt so lovingly?
How great the joy that thou hast brought,
so far exceeding hope or thought! [Refrain]

OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL WEDNESDAY 30TH MARCH 2022. HOW TO RETAIN YOUR DOMINION.

MEMORY VERSE:
And all nations will hate you because you are my followers. But everyone who endures to the end will be saved. Matthew 10:22

READ: Philippians 3:10 -15

10 I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,

11 so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!

12 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.

13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,

14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

15 Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you.

MESSAGE
One truth that we must embrace as we round off our discussion on dominion is that it can be lost if one is careless, arrogant, disobedient or lawless. A classic example of someone who had dominion but lost it was the first king of Israel – Saul, according to 1Samuel 15:1-30. He was not only disobedient, but also unrepentant. He chose to enjoy popularity among the people but this eventually made him lose the desired popularity when God’s grace departed from him. To his face the women of Israel sang that “Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands” (1 Samuel 18:7). Dominion attracts fame and popularity; however, if care is not taken,these can make one lose his or her dominion and eventually be left with nothing, thus becoming a shadow of his or her past.

Dominion brings about comfort but comfort when mismanaged can cause one to lose his or her dominion, as in case of David. The Bible says that at a time when kings were supposed to have gone to war, David stayed back to enjoy the pleasure of his palace. This was when he saw what he was not supposed to see, fell into a series of sins that brought a curse upon him to temporarily lose his dominion to his son Absalom. Thank God that he had a repentant heart and God mercifully restored his dominion to him (2 Samuel 11, 15 – 18). The Bible says: “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth them shall have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13). This might have made David write Psalm 51 which reads

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Psalm 51:1

2 Samuel 12:1-13 tells us of the tender mercies of God when David repented.

Beloved, let us be careful not to lose our dominion. To those who have lost their dominion, the good news is that God is ready to forgive if you would repent and trace your steps back to Him today.

There are people who never lost their dominion. Elisha was one of them (2 Kings 13:14-21). You will never lose your dominion, in the mighty name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please help me to be obedient to You at all times so that I will never lose the dominion You have given me, in the mighty name of Jesus.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 23-25

HYMN 19: O WORSHIP THE KING ALL GLORIOUS ABOVE
1 O worship the King all-glorious above,
O gratefully sing his power and his love:
our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days,
pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.

2 O tell of his might and sing of his grace,
whose robe is the light, whose canopy space.
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
and dark is his path on the wings of the storm.

3 Your bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

4 Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
in you do we trust, nor find you to fail.
Your mercies, how tender, how firm to the end,
our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!

OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL MONDAY 28TH MARCH 2022 PROOF OF DOMINION I

MEMORISE:
You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. John 15:16

READ: John 15:1- 8
“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener.

2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.

3 You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you.

4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.

5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

6 Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.

7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!

8 When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.

MESSAGE:
How can we know that someone has dominion? To prove that you have dominion, you must have something to show for it. Kings are known in their domain by their possessions. In other words, productivity and fruitfulness are proof of dominion.

The story was told of two friends who asked a seer to foretell their future and one was told he would be king while the other was told he would die a pauper. The one who was told that he would become king went home rejoicing and stopped working from that day. Meanwhile, the other man who was told that he would die a pauper went into the jungle and began to cultivate a farm. Some years later, there was a terrible famine in the land and as people were scouting around for food, they stumbled upon the huge farmland of this determined young man. They begged him to give them large supplies of food so that the townspeople would not die of hunger. This man agreed to give them food that would last the period of famine, on one condition. The condition was that they would make him their king. The people agreed and he was made king. The proof of his dominion as the king was in his ability to feed the people, even in the midst of the famine.

In our memory verse today, our Lord Jesus Christ said that the proof of dominion is fruitfulness. He stated clearly that when we bear fruit and our fruit abide, God will give unto us whatsoever we ask for in His name (John 15:16). That is dominion.

This is a pointer to the fact that only an achiever could say he or she has dominion. You can only achieve if you have God as your Ally because the Bible says that unless the Lord builds the house, the builders build in vain (Psalm 127:1).

To truly have dominion, connect with the Almighty God today.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please cause me to be fruitful from now on and establish my dominion before the whole world, in the mighty name of Jesus.

OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL SUNDAY 27TH MARCH 2022 THE ROLE OF THE GEM CALLED MOTHER

MEMORISE: The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother. Proverbs 10:1

READ: 1 Kings 3:16 -21
16 Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.

17 And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.

18 And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.

19 And this woman’s child died in the night; because she overlaid it.

20 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.

21 And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.

MESSAGE:
Today is Mother’s Day and I pray that for every mother, your labour of love over your children will not go unrewarded in Jesus name. Mothers are very special people because of how passionate they are about their children. I have always said it: I am where I am today because of the grace of God and the prayers of my mother. The prayers she constantly used to say then was that many others would respond when I called on one person. In other words, her prayer was that I would be so influential that everyone would want to answer when I call.

A mother that does her duties right will set her children on the part towards fulfilling God’s plan for their lives. In Matthew 20:20-21, the mother of James and John came to plead with Jesus that her children should be seated beside Him in heaven; it’s no wonder these two were among the three closest to Jesus when He was on earth.

Mothers are pivotal to the fulfillment of destinies of their children. It is however unfortunate that many mothers are so carried away by the things of this world that they forget their role in interceding for thief children.

In our Bible reading today, one mother was sleeping so deeply that she killed her own baby.The other was also sleeping so deeply that her child was exchanged right under her nose without her knowledge. Thank God she awoke to fight back for her child. This tells us that if a mother is sleeping spiritually, she could kill her own children. If she is not prayerful and does not invest her time in raising them diligently, their destinies could be truncated right under her watch. When a mother would rather sleep than pray at night for her children, she is indirectly killing their destinies.

I pray that a generation of mothers would arise- a generation that would not take with levity the destinies of their children, a generation that would commit to ensuring that their children live to fulfill God’s plan for their lives.

Mothers, awake and prayerfully fight for the actualization of your children’s destinies.

KEY POINT
Mothers are pivotal to the success or otherwise of their children

HYMN 15: NOW THANK WE ALL OUR GOD
Now thank we all our God
with heart and hands and voices,
who wondrous things has done,
in whom his world rejoices;
who from our mothers’ arms
has blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love,
and still is ours today.

2 O may this bounteous God
through all our life be near us,
with ever joyful hearts
and blessed peace to cheer us,
to keep us in his grace,
and guide us when perplexed,
and free us from all ills
of this world in the next.

3 All praise and thanks to God
the Father now be given,
the Son and Spirit blest,
who reign in highest heaven
the one eternal God,
whom heaven and earth adore;
for thus it was, is now,
and shall be evermore.

OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY MARCH 25 DOMINION II

MEMORISE: And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. Genesis 13:5

READ: Genesis 14:14 -16

14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.

15 And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

MESSAGE
Yesterday we started discussing the subject of dominion and we discovered that it was bestowed upon man at creation but he traded it for the forbidden fruit. Jesus however, came to redeem man and restore dominion unto all those who believe in Him. We will continue with our study today by considering dominion by association – that is, a person can have dominion if the fellow is associated with a powerful personality. An adage in my mother tongue says that a dog can kill a monkey if the dog has the backing of the hunter. In our memory verse today we see Lot having dominion over poverty because of his association with the friend of God – Abraham. However, he lost the dominion when he departed from Abraham in Genesis 13.

After a while, when Lot cut off his association with Abraham,the Bible says that the city in which Lot was living was invaded and because Lot has separated himself from the friend of God, he became a victim of the invasion. Had it not been for the mercy of God and the love of his uncle, he wouldn’t have regained his freedom as we read in today’s text. The Bible says:

And he (Abraham) brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot,and his goods, and the women also, and the people. Genesis 14:16.

Who we associate with goes a long way in determining our experiences in life. Proverbs 13:20 says:

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

Beloved, may l recommend Someone you can associate yourself with for everlasting dominion? His name is Jesus. The Bible says that His dominion is everlasting. (Psalm 145:13).

Why live your life in one form of captivity or the other, when you can operate in dominion over every situation, circumstance, and mountain?

Come to Jesus today and have everlasting dominion.

Prayer Point
Father, give me everlasting dominion over sin, Satan and the works of the flesh, in the mighty name of Jesus.

HYMN 26: WE ARE NEVER NEVER WEARY OF THE GRAND OLD SONG

1. We are never, never weary of the grand old song;
Glory to God, hallelujah!
We can sing it loud as ever, with our faith more strong;
Glory to God, hallelujah!

Refrain
O, the children of the Lord have a right to shout and sing,
For the way is growing bright, and our souls are on the wing;
We are going by and by to the palace of a King!
Glory to God, hallelujah!

2. We are lost amid the rapture of redeeming love
Glory to God, hallelujah!
We are rising on its pinions to the hills above:
Glory to God, hallelujah! [Refrain]

3. We are going to a palace that is built of gold;
Glory to God, hallelujah!
Where the King in all His splendor we shall soon behold
Glory to God, hallelujah! [Refrain]

4. There we’ll shout redeeming mercy in a glad, new song;
Glory to God, hallelujah!
There we’ll sing the praise of Jesus with the blood washed throng;
Glory to God, hallelujah! [Refrain]

OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL THURSDAY 24TH MARCH 2022 DOMINION 1

THEME: DOMINION 1

MEMORISE: Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: Psalms 8:6

READ: Genesis 1:26 -28
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

MESSAGE
To the human race, dominion should be a natural phenomenon because it was bestowed upon us at creation. Our memory verse for today attests to this truth. In other words, one can gain dominion by creation. For example, a buffalo is conceived the same way a lion is conceived. However, dominion is bestowed upon the lion over the buffalo. When David considered the privileged position God placed man in, he could not help asking, “What is man, that thou are mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?” (Psalm 8:4). The question here is, “What should man do to appreciate the One who bestowed this dominion upon him? The answer is not far-fetched; the Bible says:

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, o my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Psalm 103:1-2.

Beloved, you should not struggle to have dominion because it has been given to us at creation. Another question then is, “Is this a reality in the life of everyone? The answer is simply “No” and this is because man sold his dominion for a taste of the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:1-7). This now leads us to the necessity of redemption. It is redemption that can restore this dominion.

I remember how I was running helter-skelter, away from wicked people who wanted to use me as their breakfast. I kept on running and suffering until I met Jesus Christ and accepted Him as my personal Lord and Saviour. When a man is redeemed from sin, he is redeemed completely form all other calamities that had dominated him hitherto. He is born again and re-created.

This is why Jesus Christ said we must be born again (John 3:3). The Bible also says that whoever is born of God (John 1:12 overcomes the world through faith in the Son of the Living God (1 John 5:4-). Beloved, you have dominion by virtue of your being a new creature in Jesus Christ.

KEY POINT
To access dominion, you must surrender your life to Jesus Christ.

HYMN25: to TO GOD BE THE GLORY

1 To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life our redemption to win,
And opened the life-gate that all may go in.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice;
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice;
Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory; great things He hath done.

2 Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

3 Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see.
