OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL SUNDAY 8TH AUGUST 2021. BE THANKFUL.

MEMORISE:

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Psalm 103:2

READ: Luke 17:11-19
11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice
glorified God,

16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

MESSAGE:
One expectation of the Almighty God is the appreciation of His children for the numerous blessings He bestows on them. It is unfortunate, however, that humans, from generation to generation have been ungrateful. They forget the goodness of God soon after receiving His blessings and begin to speak against the Lover of their souls. James 1:13-14 says:
“Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.”

After the Lord Jesus healed ten lepers, He expected them to return and say “Glory to God in the highest.” To His surprise however, only one of the ten came and He asked “…Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.”

Ingratitude is an act of robbery against God. The greatest danger of ingratitude is the giving of the glory that belongs to God to someone or something else. This is practical idolatry, punishable for all eternity. In addition, it is dangerous not to be thankful because your joy cannot be full if you are not thankful. The only person we can consider as having fullness of joy amongst these ten lepers is the one who returned to give glory to God. Jesus then crowned his healing by saying to him “…rise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.” (Luke 17:19).

We must note however, that the first way to show gratitude to God is to accept His offer of salvation which seems free but cost the life of the innocent Son of the Living God. We must embrace this offer with every sense of gratitude.

Indeed, our acceptance of the lordship of Jesus Christ over our lives is the most profound form of gratitude we can ever express to God. The Lord bless you as you do so today, in the mighty name of Jesus. if you have already submitted to His lordship, begin to count your blessings and give Him heartfelt thanks.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, I thank You for the salvation of my soul through Christ my Lord. Help me to live by His teachings to the glory of Your Holy Name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Job 37-38.

HYMN 3: BE GLAD IN THE LORD AND REJOICE.

1. Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice,
All ye that are upright in heart;
And ye that have made Him your choice,
Bid sadness and sorrow depart.

o Refrain:
Rejoice, rejoice,
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice;
Rejoice, rejoice,
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice.

2. Be joyful, for He is the Lord
On earth and in Heaven supreme;
He fashions and rules by His word—
The “Mighty” and “Strong” to redeem.

3. What though in the conflict for right
Your enemies almost prevail?
God’s armies, just hid from your sight,
Are more than the foes which assail.

4. Though darkness surround you by day,
Your sky by the night be o’ercast,
Let nothing your spirit dismay,
But trust till the danger is past.

5. Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice,
His praises proclaiming in song;
Let gratefulness give all a voice,
The loud hallelujahs prolong!

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. SATURDAY 7TH AUGUST, 2021. PRAY WITHOUT CEASING.

MEMORISE:
“And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.”
(Luke 22:40)

READ: Luke 18:1-8 (KJV)

1. And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

2. Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

3. And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

4. And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

5. Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

6. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

7. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

8. I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

MESSAGE:
The statement “pray without ceasing” in (1 Thessalonians 5:17) is not a piece of advice or suggestion.

The importance of this statement is revealed in the words of Jesus Christ to His disciples in our memory verse of today.

Luke 22:45-46 says further:

And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

The arm of flesh will always fail according to Jeremiah 17:5. This brings to mind the common saying

“A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian”. A life of prayer is indeed a blessed one.

In the story of the widow in our text of today, there are many lessons we can learn.

One, the judge avenged the widow of her enemies simply because, by her prayer, she compelled him to.

Two, this woman did not change her prayer – she was consistent in her request.

Many people gamble with their prayer lives, either not knowing or not asking for the specific things they need. They are unstable like the wave of the sea being driven with the wind and tossed (James 1:6).

James 1:7-8 further says:

For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Such people don’t even know who to give the glory to if or when they get their miracle. They have alternatives to the miracle-working power of the Almighty, hence, they pray to God, but also seek the assistance of the arm of flesh. The result of people’s reliance on the arm of flesh is that they fail to ask earnestly and so do not have.

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not
(James 4:2).

Our Lord Jesus Christ in today’s text assures us that our Heavenly Father, unlike the unjust judge, will answer us speedily on one condition: if we will pray in faith and trust in Him.

As you ask in faith today, may you receive blessings beyond your wildest imaginations, in the mighty name of Jesus.

ACTION POINT:
Pray Until Something Happens (PUSH) today.

HYMN 32: SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER.

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father’s throne
make all my wants and wishes known.

In seasons of distress and grief,
my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter’s snare
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
the joys I feel, the bliss I share
of those whose anxious spirits burn
with strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
where God my Savior shows his face,
and gladly take my station there,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulness
engage the waiting soul to bless.

And since he bids me seek his face,
believe his word, and trust his grace,
I’ll cast on him my every care,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY 6TH AUGUST 2021: REDEEMED FOR BLESSING!

MEMORISE:
And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Hebrews 2:15

READ: Galatians 4:4-7.
4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

MESSAGE:
The benefits of redemption are innumerable. Anytime I remember what I suffered in the hands of Satan and his agents before I was redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, I cannot help thanking God for the salvation of my soul.

Fear was a major source of my torment before I met Jesus Christ. This fear was passed unto me from my mother who, by the grace of God, also later became saved. For fear that I, being her only son, might be killed, my mother sent me far away from my hometown. For many years I could not return for fear of death and the wicked people there. However, when we surrendered to the lordship of Jesus Christ, we were saved and liberated from the spirit of fear. This is why I am praying for anyone who has been living in perpetual fear that such a person will be delivered from that torment in Jesus’ name. Romans 8:15 says “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”

Concerning Christ’s redemption, Hebrews 2:14-15 says:
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”

Redemption grants us access to the throne of the Almighty God. Once you are redeemed, you have direct contact with the Lord.

This is why I am using this medium to invite you to accept Jesus Christ who has paid for your redemption in full. Confess your sins and accept Him as your Lord and Savior. Promise Him that you will abide by His word and never go back to the world; He will redeem you and blessings will begin to manifest in your life.

Are you a believer still wallowing in fear? This is not your portion! Are you doubting your redemption in Christ? Don’t. Identify the cause of your fear and/or doubt so that you can retrace your steps. You have been redeemed for blessing and you shall indeed be blessed, in the mighty name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please don’t let anything rob me of the benefits of Christ’s redemption. Let the whole world know that I am Your child, in the mighty name of Jesus.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. THURSDAY 5TH AUGUST, 2021. BE THOU PERFECT.

MEMORISE:
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
(Matthew 5:48)

READ: Genesis 17:1-9 (KJV)

1. And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

2. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

3. And Abram fell on his face; and God talked with him, saying,

4. As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

5. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

6. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

7. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

8. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

9. And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.

MESSAGE:
There are many misconceptions about the demand of God for perfection. These misconceptions have led some people to conclude that perfection is unrealistic and so should be abandoned in the Christian walk.

My prayer is that the power of God will come upon you today and you will live in perfection as God demands, in Jesus’ name.

Why do people see God’s demand for our perfection as unrealistics? Many people think that perfection is to be attained by our strength. This is simply not so.

Nobody can attain anything by his or her own strength (1 Samuel 2:9). We need the power and wisdom of God for perfection.

The problem, however, is the belief of many that perfection is unattainable. They lack faith in God to help them become perfect.

This is why the Bible says: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)

Unbelief breeds disobedience as in the case of the first man and woman. They doubted the word of God and fell into imperfection through this unbelief! This was unlike Abraham in our text of today.

Thus, if you are struggling with unbelief, pray like that man whose child was tormented by demons “…Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief”
(Mark 9:24).

When people see a state of human perfection as a ‘mission impossible’, it is simply because they do not understand the concept from the point of view of the Lord.

How does God see perfection? You are perfect based on your obedience to what God asks you to do – even when it is neither ‘logically’ nor ‘politically’ correct.

Once you obey, He justifies you. We are justified through faith in the Son of the Living God (Romans 8:33).

Perfection and holiness share the same factor that makes them realistic and that is obedience.

Are you always obedient to the word of God? If you are, I congratulate you. If not, you must repent today, because tomorrow may be too late.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please let Your Holy Spirit quicken me to perfection, in the mighty name of Jesus.

HYMN 14: JESUS, MY LORD, MY GOD, MY ALL.

1. Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all,
Hear me, blest Saviour, when I call;
Hear me, and from Thy dwelling place
Pour down the riches of Thy grace;

REFRAIN:
Jesus, my Lord, I Thee adore;
O make me love Thee more and more.

2. Jesus, too late I Thee have sought;
How can I love Thee as I ought?
And how extol Thy matchless fame,
The glorious beauty of Thy name?

3. Jesus, what didst Thou find in me,
That Thou hast dealt so lovingly?
How great the joy that Thou hast brought
So far exceeding hope or thought!

4. Jesus, of Thee shall be my song,
To Thee my heart and soul belong;
All that I have or am is Thine,
And Thou, blest Saviour, Thou art mine.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. WEDNESDAY 4TH AUGUST, 2021. ARISE AND SHINE.

MEMORISE:
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.”
(Isaiah 60:1)

READ: Isaiah 60:1-5 (KJV)

1. Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.

2. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people; but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

3. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

4. Lift up thine eyes round about, and see; all they gather themselves together, they come to thee; thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.

5. Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.

MESSAGE:
The memory verse for today enjoins us to arise and shine because our light has come. What or who is this light? Here is the answer:

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
(John 8:12).

Jesus is the Light that brings the glory of the Lord to every situation. The moment the glory departed from Adam and Eve, they realised that they were naked. Adam said: “… I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself” (Genesis 3:10).

However when God decided to rescue man from this shameful state; He sent His Son – the Light, to the world.

In our Bible reading of today, we are commanded to arise and at the same time, shine. Why? It is because God made up His mind to lighten the world that had been covered by darkness.

It is also because the glory of the Lord has come upon the world.

What or who is this glory of the Lord? Jesus Christ the Son of God is the glory of the Lord. I don’t know how deep you may have gone into darkness through sinful habits or associations; however, I have good news for you: your light has come!

All you have to do to partake of this light is to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour.

Matthew 11:28 says

“Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

In Revelation 3:20, the Bible says

“Behold I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

You can rest assured that if you let the Light in, your life, which may have been plagued with all that darkness represents, shall be lightened up.

Darkness is represented by sin, sickness, poverty, sorrow, failure and bondage, whereas light represents righteousness, divine health, prosperity, joy, breakthrough and freedom.

Many of us can testify that there is darkness in this world. The darkness we are talking about is not the absence of electricity, but rather, spiritual darkness, according to Ephesians 6:12.

Are you still in darkness? If the answer is yes, why hasn’t your own light come?

It may be that you have not embraced the Light.
Accept Jesus the Light into your life today and darkness will no longer be able to comprehend or overcome you, according to John 1:5.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, let the light of Your Son Jesus Christ shine upon me today. Let Your glory be greatly evident in my life, in the mighty name of Jesus.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Job 29-30

HYMN 10: I’M PRESSING ON THE UPWARD WAY.

1. I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

REFRAIN:
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s tableland,
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

2. My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise, and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where those abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

3. I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.

4. I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till heav’n I’ve found,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY 3RD AUGUST 2021. PERFECT OBEDIENCE.

MEMORISE:

And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
1 Samuel 15:22

READ: 1 Samuel 15:22-23.

22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

MESSAGE:
It is needless to reiterate that perfect obedience to God and His word helps us set our priorities right. Sacrifice is good; God expects all His children to present their bodies as living sacrifices- holy and acceptable to Him (Romans 12:1). However, God prefers obedience to sacrifice. 1 Samuel 15:22 says:
“……Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”

Obedience is an act of doing and being willing to do what one is told to. In a spiritual sense, obedience is total submission to the written and spoken word of God. Obedience is an express commandment of God. One distinguishing characteristic of all who are great in the service of the Lord is prompt obedience. The Bible is full of stories of men and women who became great for God as a result of their complete and immediate obedience to the word of God. Heroes of obedience include Abraham, Joshua, Ruth, David, Elijah, Elisha and our Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says:
“ As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me. The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.” Psalm 18:44-45

True and perfect obedience comes from a heart of love. It is real and not mere eye service. Boldness is a vital ingredient of perfect obedience. Peter and other disciples boldly confronted the Jewish elders when they chose to preach, saying they would rather please God and displease men.
“But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.” Acts 4:19

Are you facing persecution because of your obedience to Christ? Don’t give up! Don’t compromise your stand. Obedience cannot be done halfway. Partial obedience is equal to disobedience. Disobedience is rebellion, which is “as the sin of witchcraft” (1 Samuel 13:23). Partial obedience was the undoing of the first king of Israel- Saul. Obedience starts with knowing the will of God then carrying out His directives promptly and completely.

KEY POINT:
Obedience is better than sacrifice.

HYMN 12: IN CHRIST ALONE.
In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! – who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe.
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied –
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine –
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life’s first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand:
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL MONDAY 2ND AUGUST 2021: EMMANUEL II.

MEMORISE:
And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. Exodus 33:15

READ: Exodus 33:12-17

12 And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.

13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.

14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

15 And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.

16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

17 And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

MESSAGE:
One of the secrets behind the success of Moses as the leader of the Israelites is that he knew the importance of the presence of God in every aspect of life. He cherished God’s presence to the point that he would not make any move without of the certainty of His approval. God told Moses that His presence would be with them (Exodus 33:14-15); this assured him of success, victory, safety and rest of mind.

It is amazing to observe that some so-called children of God feel they can achieve whatever they want to, without God in it. They live carelessly, committing acts which they know are displeasing to God, whereas our Lord Jesus Christ said:
“…..He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:5

Beloved, we dare not embark on any journey or project without the certainty of the presence of God going with us because such a venture is bound to fail. God’s presence distinguishes an individual out of the multitude.
“And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.” Exodus 33:15-16

The presence of the Lord guarantees safety according to Psalm 91:1. This blessing of divine presence is what Jesus Christ whose name is Emmanuel has wrought for us according to our memory verse of today.

To have God’s presence with us for guaranteed safety, success, breakthrough, victory and life eternal with Him, all we need to do is surrender to the Great Emmanuel. He will keep us now and in the world to come; He will stand by us and never leave nor forsake us.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please let me begin to enjoy Your presence like never before from today, in Jesus’ name.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. SUNDAY 1ST AUGUST, 2021. EMMANUEL (1).

MEMORISE:
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Matthew 1:23

READ: Matthew 1:18-25

18. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

19. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

20. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

21. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

22.Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23. Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

24. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

25. And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

MESSAGE:
One purpose of the Gospel of Matthew is to show that Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament promises concerning the Messiah.

Isaiah 7:14 says:

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”

The name Emmanuel means God with us. God is the only being who is unlimited in His might.

There are numerous blessings to be enjoyed from being in the presence of God (Psalms 16:11 ).

Constantly being in the presence of the Lord ensures the fulfilment of ones divine destiny.

Romans 8:31 says:

“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”

God has many names and they all work for the good of those who have Him as their Father.

God is the El-Shaddai – the AllSufficient One. God has enough resources to meet all your needs spiritual, physical, emotional as well as psychological. God is the Jehovah Jireh – the Great Provider. He has the ability to turn a fellows austerity to prosperity and poverty to wealth.

Philippians 4:19 says:

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

God is the Great Healer. Are you sick? God has the ability to cure all ailments pathological (physical or mental) or spiritual. God is the Jehovah-Nissi – the man of war. Are you facing any battle? The Almighty God has the ability to fight all your battles and grant you total victory. Are the enemies of your life innumerable? Are they stronger than you? Turn to Jehovah-Nissi today. Let Him be your Emmanuel.

His promise is:

“He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him”

“Psalm 91:15”

I prophesy that you will be victorious in every battle you face in Jesus name.

God is our righteousness Jehovah-Tsidkenu.

Divine Salvation is the greatest of all the numerous advantages of being a child of God.

John 3:3 says

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Are you born again? The reality of having God with you can only come to be when you give your life to Jesus.

REFLECTION:
There is nothing as good as having God with you.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Job 23:1-17,
Job 24:1-25

HYMN 1: ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS NAME!

All hail the power of Jesus Name!
Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown Him Lord of all.
Bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown Him Lord of all.

Let highborn seraphs tune the lyre,
and as they tune it, fall
Before His face Who tunes their choir,
and crown Him Lord of all.
Before His face Who tunes their choir,
and crown Him Lord of all.

Crown Him, ye morning stars of light,
Who fixed this floating ball;
Now hail the strength of Israels might,
and crown Him Lord of all.
Now hail the strength of Israels might,
and crown Him Lord of all.

Crown Him, ye martyrs of your God,
who from His altar call;
Extol the Stem of Jesses Rod,
and crown Him Lord of all.
Extol the Stem of Jesses Rod,
and crown Him Lord of all.

Ye seed of Israels chosen race,
ye ransomed from the fall,
Hail Him Who saves you by His grace,
and crown Him Lord of all.
Hail Him Who saves you by His grace,
and crown Him Lord of all.

Hail Him, ye heirs of Davids line,
Whom David Lord did call,
The God incarnate, Man divine,
and crown Him Lord of all,
The God incarnate, Man divine,
and crown Him Lord of all.

Sinners, whose love can neer forget
the wormwood and the gall,
Go spread your trophies at His feet,
and crown Him Lord of all.
Go spread your trophies at His feet,
and crown Him Lord of all.

Let every tribe and every tongue
before Him prostrate fall
And shout in universal song
the crownd Lord of all.
And shout in universal song
the crownd Lord of all.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL SATURDAY 31ST JULY 2021. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIORITIES?

MEMORISE:

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
1 Corinthians 2:9

READ: John 4:23-24.

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

MESSAGE:
The Scriptures present us with a marked difference between the priorities of our Lord Jesus Christ and the concerns of His disciples. Just like His disciples, many of us are too bothered with how to meet our physical, psychological and emotional needs, rather than on spiritual things. We immerse ourselves in temporal concerns. Jesus assured His disciples that the Father knew their needs and would always provide for them (Luke 11:11-13). Jesus described what should be the topmost priority of all Heaven-bound Christians in Matthew 6:33:
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

It is often said that passionate people make the greatest contributions to the society. Be passionate about the things of God. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, so that the necessities of daily life will be provided. It is time to reprioritize your life and passion.

God is called the God of glory in Act 7:2. There is a great expectation for all who serve God in holiness and truth. Everyone who dedicates themselves to serving God in spirit and in truth will enjoy divine favor is better than many years of labor. Divine favor is superior to luck or good fortune. I pray that you will experience divine favor from today, in Jesus’ name.

Heaven-bound Christians are focused on serving God in spirit and in truth (John 2:24). Material and worldly possessions are secondary to them, despite God’s assurance of His provision. There is fruitfulness for all who consecrate themselves to serving God in spirit and truth. Psalm 92:12 says:
“The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.”

There is an assurance of victory over all known and unknown enemies for those who serve God in righteousness. Psalm 132:18 says:
“His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.”

Are you consecrated to God? Do you love Him? Is the righteousness of God your priority? If your answer to each of these questions is ‘yes’, blessed are you. If not, seek a deeper relationship with the Lord from today and you would be blessed also.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please grant me the grace to consecrate myself unto You. Help me to make righteousness my utmost priority, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 11: I NEED THEE EV’RY HOUR.
1. I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine can peace afford.

o Refrain:
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior,
I come to Thee.

2. I need Thee every hour, stay Thou nearby;
Temptations lose their pow’r when Thou art nigh.

3. I need Thee every hour, in joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide, or life is vain.

4. I need Thee every hour; teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises in me fulfill.

5. I need Thee every hour, most Holy One;
Oh, make me Thine indeed, Thou blessed Son.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY JULY 30 2021 THE MARKS OF THE LORD JESUS

MEMORISE:

From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.
Galatians 6:17

READ:
Titus 2:11-15

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

MESSAGE:

A mark can be described as an impression, a distinguishing trait or quality. Every genuine child of God bears some mark within them that identifies him or her as a child of God.

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.
Romans 8:16

One distinguishing trait or quality that indicates ownership by the Lord Jesus is holiness which produces faithfulness and other Christian virtues. Everyone belonging to Christ is expected to be holy in order to exhibit His characteristics. Faithfulness is another hallmark of a Christian carrying the mark of Jesus. This results in our steadfastness in prayer, tithes and offerings, studying the word of God, our marital relationships, general human relations and our service to God. God expects you as His child to be faithful to Him, yourself and others.

Christ came to do the perfect will of God for His life. Hebrews 10:7 says:

Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

Anything that brings shame or reproach to the name of the Lord is not His will for your life. Are you passionate about the things of God? Do you obey the Bible which is the written word of God?

Love is another mark of the Lord Jesus. John 13:1 says:

Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

Indicators of love include endurance, kindness, selflessness, humility, self-discipline and purity. Love subdues pride and vain glory; It is not puffed up with conceit. It is not insolent, neither does it despise others, trample on them, nor treat them with contempt and scorn. Love is selfless, the complete opposite of selfishness. It cannot harbour malice, neither can it plan evil.

Holiness and love are two marks of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you bear these marks?

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please let the marks of the Lord Jesus be evident in my life, for Your glory.

HYMN 9
HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, LORD GOD ALMIGHTY

1. Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

2. Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
Who wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

3. Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
Though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
Only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
Perfect in pow’r, in love, and purity.

4. Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!
