OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL SUNDAY NOVEMBER 20TH 2022 NEVER FORGET HIS MERCIES

THEME: NEVER FORGET HIS MERCIES

MEMORISE: Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Psalms 103:2

READ: Psalms 103:1 -5

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

MESSAGE

In our Bible reading today, David said his soul must never forget God’s benefits, and then he began to list those benefits for us. One of the greatest failings of Christians is that they quickly forget the benefits of the Most High God. If somebody wakes up in the morning and begins to shout “Praise the Lord, glory be to God” so loudly that the neighbours gather to ask him what happened and then he responds, “l’m thanking God for the safe delivery of my wife three years ago”, they would begin to wonder if he is in need of a psychiatrist. However, if somebody wakes up early in the morning and begins to weep and wail over the death of her husband 10 years ago, people would say, “Oh, sorry, we understand “.

It is the nature of man to remember evil things and forget the good, but as a Christian, you are a new creature, so you should do the opposite. The popular hymn says, ‘Count your blessings, name them one by one’.

It is dangerous when you find it difficult to thank God for what He has done. Some years ago, l was preparing the sermon for a New Year thanksgiving service, and l remember saying to God, “Daddy, it’s just the two of us now; may l speak like a son to his Daddy’s? He said “Go ahead”. I went on, “Lord, l am going to encourage Your children to praise You for what You did for them in the passing year, but between You and me, we know You didn’t do anything for me”. I began to lay out all the things l had expected in the course of the year but didn’t get. The Lord then interrupted and told me to get a notebook. He asked me to write the answers to the questions He would be asking me. He began, “How many times did you travel this year?” I said “Many times”. “How many times did you have an accident?” I responded, “None”. He continued, “More than 360 days have gone by in this year; how many times did you sleep and wake up? Do you know how many people slept and didn’t wake up? How many times were you hungry in the past year? Are you aware that there are people in the hospital who want to eat but have no appetite?”

I quickly interrupted Him because I had become very afraid as I realised how ungrateful I had been. No matter how bad things may look, don’t forget His mercies.

PRAYER POINT

Spend quality time thanking God for all His mercies towards you.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Acts 10-11

HYMN 27: WHEN LIFE’S BILLOW YOU ARE TEMPEST TOSSED

1. When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

o Refrain:
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God has done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
*Count your many blessings, see what God has done.
[*And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

2. Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.

3. When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings—money cannot buy [*wealth can never buy]
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

4. So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL SATURDAY NOVEMBER 19TH 2022 WONDERFUL GOD ll

MEMORISE: And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: Acts 19:11

READ: Acts 19:11 -16

11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:

12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.

15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

MESSAGE

Beyond making you a wonder, God can decide to use you as a vessel through whom He will be doing wonders on earth. This is one thing every believer should pursue. In Acts 5:12-16, the Bible tells us about the great wonders that God performed through the apostles and how He even healed the sick through Peters shadow. If the shadow of a man begins to heal the sick, definitely that man has become a vessel for wonders.

If you want to become a vessel for wonders, you will have to really deny yourself of many things. Apostle Paul was without any doubt a vessel for wonders because his handkerchiefs and aprons worked miracles. I Corinthians 10:23 says:

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

If you want God to do wonders for you, you have to stay away from anything that is considered unlawful; however, if you want Him to do wonders through you, you have to stay away from even things that are lawful but not expedient. It is not unlawful to eat, but when you want Him to do wonders through you, fasting will become a regular practice for you. It is not unlawful to spend good time with friends chatting, but for those who God will do wonders through, they will spend more time with Him praying and studying their Bible than they spend with other people. They will give of their substance so much that people will say they are running crazy, they will serve in His house like they are being paid millions; in all, they will give themselves totally to God. These are the kinds of people through whom God will do wonders.

Moses, the man through whom God parted the Red Sea, spent more time on the mountain than below it. Indeed, he was so accustomed to the presence of God that the Lord spoke to Him face to face (Exodus 33:11). Elijah – the man who called down fire on Mount Carmel and shut the heavens over Israel for three years was always found on the mountain (2 Kings 1:9). You have to offer yourself as a living sacrifice unto God (Romans 12:1), if you want Him to do wonders through you.

KEY POINT

If you really want God to do wonders through you, be prepared to pay the price.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY NOVEMBER 18TH 2022 WONDERFUL GOD l

MEMORISE: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

READ: Daniel 6:25 -27

25 Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

26 I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.

27 He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

MESSAGE

God Himself is a wonder. Isaiah 9:6 says His name shall be called Wonderful. Wonderful means full of wonders. It is a wonder for a virgin to conceive. It is a wonder for the King of kings to be born in a manger. It is a wonder for the One who controls the armies of heaven to allow Himself to be crucified. It is a wonder for someone to rise from death. Not only is God a wonder, He does wonders. In our Bible reading for today, even a heathen king proclaimed that our God is the living God who works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth. He is a wonder; He can do wonders for you. In John 9:32, the blind man whose eyes were opened said:

“Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.”

The Almighty can heal any sickness you are experiencing: He can solve any problem. Jeremiah 32:27 says:
Behold, l am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

Nothing is too hard for God to do. If you live holy and ask Him , there is nothing He cannot do for you.

Beyond doing wonders for you, God can turn you into a wonder. In Mark 2:1-12, a paralyzed man was brought to Jesus through the roof and with just a word from the Lord, the man got up, completely whole. The Bible says in verse 12 that the people were amazed. He turned him into a wonder and He can do the same for you.

My story is proof that this God can turn anyone to.a wonder. For a poor boy from a tiny village in Nigeria to be interacting with great leaders around the world, that is a wonder. If you want God to make you a wonder, you need to first and foremost surrender your life to Jesus Christ, begin to live a holy lifestyle and consistently seek His face for mercy.

PRAYER POINT

Father, please have mercy on me and make me a wonder in my generation.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Acts 5–7

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY NOVEMBER 15TH 2022 TOUCHING GOD 11

MEMORISE: By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. Hebrews 13:15

READ: 2 Chronicles 1:6 -12

6 And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.

7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.

8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.

9 Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

MESSAGE

You can touch God through Your worship. In Acts 16:25-26, at midnight, Paul and Silas sang praises to the Most High God, in prison, God saw them praising Him while they were bound in prison and was touched. Instead of grumbling, they praised God and this made Him force open the prison doors. Apostle Paul was a man who knew how to touched God through worship. He is the one who wrote about the sacrifice of praise in Hebrews 13:15:
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name

What is the sacrifice of praise? The sacrifice of praise according to the above Scripture is the fruit of our lips. When you put this side-by-side with Matthew 7:16 which says “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” you would then see that such a sacrifice does not come from lips that only praise God once in a while, or that only praise Him when things are going well. The sacrifice of praise comes from lips that glorify Him all the time, lips which only bear worship and thanksgiving to the Most High God, lips that have been sacrificed on the altar of praise to the Lord.

You want to touch God with your worship? Give Him a sacrifice of praise from your lips which are dedicated to praising Him at all times.

God will however, not accept praise from a sinner because His eyes cannot behold iniquity (Habakkuk 1:13). As a matter of fact, sin hides His face from sinners and He will not hear them (Isaiah 59:1-2) unless they repent and forsake their wrongdoings.

Surrender your life to Jesus Christ today if you have not done so, then you can rest assured that when you worship Him, He will hear you and you will indeed move Him to perform wonders in your life.

KEY POINT

Make praising God your lifestyle.

HYMN 19: O WORSHIP THE KING ALL GLORIOUS ABOVE

1 O worship the King all-glorious above,

O gratefully sing his power and his love:

our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days,

pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.

2 O tell of his might and sing of his grace,

whose robe is the light, whose canopy space.

His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,

and dark is his path on the wings of the storm.

3 Your bountiful care, what tongue can recite?

It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;

it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,

and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

4 Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,

in you do we trust, nor find you to fail.

Your mercies, how tender, how firm to the end,

our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!

5 O measureless Might, unchangeable Love,

whom angels delight to worship above!

Your ransomed creation, with glory ablaze,

in true adoration shall sing to your praise!

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL MONDAY NOVEMBER 14TH 2022 TOUCHING GOD 1

MEMORISE: And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matthew 8:3

READ: Mark 5:25 -34

25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,

26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

MESSAGE

Beloved, if God touches you, your life will never remain the same. The issue now is that God has millions of children; how are you sure that He will single you out and touch you in particular? Well. Whether God touches you or you touch God, the result is the same. If a wire carrying electricity drops on a person body or somebody mistakenly touches it, the result will be the same. Our God is a Consuming Fire (Hebrews 12:29). Whether He is the One who touches you or you touch Him, the result, will be the same. In the Bible reading for today, the woman with the issue of blood just touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and the Lord said virtue had gone out of Him.

How do you touch God? You can touch Him by faith. In Matthew 8:5-13, the Bible tells us the story of a centurion who came to Jesus saying that he needed his servant to be healed. Jesus said He would come and heal him, but the centurion said He should just speaks word and he knew that his servant would be healed. Jesus said, “I have never seen this kind of faith before, no, not in Israel”.

Some time ago, l got a letter from someone who said, “l have a series of problems. I am not asking that you come and pray for me, l am not booking an appointment ; l know that if you can just read my letter. I will get my miracles”. I read the letter and said to the Lord: “Almighty God, You have to honour this faith”. Two weeks later, l got another letter from the same fellow saying, “l know you read my letter because God has done it”.

How strong is your faith? Can it touch God? If your faith is not strong enough to touch the Lord, then you need to study and hear the word of God more often. Romans 10:17 says:
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Just keep consuming God’s word, whether it is through the Bible, books or sermons of genuine men and women of God and you will see your faith grow so much that it will touch God and the impossible will become possible in your life.

PRAYER POINT

Father, help my faith to grow so much that it will touch You, in Jesus name

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL SUNDAY NOVEMBER 13TH 2022 GOD REQUIRES DILIGENCE

MEMORISE: The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat. Proverbs 13:4

READ: Proverbs 6:6 -11
6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

MESSAGE

Many people assume that God blessing them means that money will just suddenly fall in their laps. That is not true. If you want things to get better. Then as God opens doors, you also need to work diligently.

A few years ago, l gave someone an assignment in January which he could have completed in 3 months. My plan was to give him another as soon as he completed the first. However, as at September, he was still struggling to finish. There was no way l would give him another. God had opened doors of financial blessings to him, but he refused to be diligent so he only got the blessing from one door.

On the other hand, there was a son of mine who would always ask me to pray for him to have a breakthrough whenever he saw me and I always obliged him. One day I received a letter from him saying he had gotten a big contract. When I saw the amount, I believed he must have mistakenly added more zeros than the actual value. I thought he mistook N500,000:00 for N50,000,000. After some time, to my amazement, I got a cheque from him and a cover note saying, Daddy, I have paid my tithe, but you are the one who prayed, so here is another 10% for you. I was shocked to see that he wasnt mistaken after all, so I called him to hear his story. He said that he had executed a project for a state government, and the government was so impressed with his performance that he invited him to his office and gave him another project that ended poverty in his life.

God wants to answer many people’s prayers, but their lack of diligence has blocked the breakthrough from coming. Luke 16:12 says:
And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?

You say your salary where you work is small and you want God to give you a breakthrough so that you will be paying people salaries; however, if you are not faithful in another man’s business, how will God give you yours?

KEY POINT
God requires diligence for your breakthrough to come.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL SATURDAY NOVEMBER 12TH 2022 THINGS WILL GET BETTER

MEMORISE: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 1:2

READ: Colossians 3:1 -17

1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

MESSAGE

When l got married things were very tough for my family. I had a job, but l was just a teacher in a grammar school. In those days, my wife and l used to struggle over ponmo (cow skin). We would tell each other jokingly, “That piece is too big, you can’t eat it alone; let’s cut it into two”. Those days l recall always reassuring her, My dear don’t worry, things won’t continue like this. Thank God she believe me and we held on to God. I am standing as a representative of God to tell you today that things will get better for you, in Jesus’ name.

3 John 2 says:

Beloved l wish above all things that thou mayst prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

I want you to take note that the statement in the Bible verse above was inspired by God to show His children that He indeed wishes above all things that they should prosper. This should assure you completed that you will prosper. He, however, attached a condition to it. The condition is that your soul must be prospering too. How will your soul prosper? I have answered that question with the Bible reading for today. You can read it again, this time around taking notes of the things that you should do for your soul to prosper.

Believe me honestly, if you live your life in line with the word of God. You will indeed experience all round prosperity.

And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

Deuteronomy 28:2

Live holy (Genesis 17:1), be diligent (Proverbs 22:29), sow bountifully (2 Corinthians 9:6), pay your tithes (Malachi 3:10) and see if God will not prosper you. Blessings will indeed pursue and overtake you.

KEY POINT

God want His children to have all-around prosperity.

Count your blessings, name them one by one;

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY NOVEMBER 11TH 2022 DIVINE VICTORY OVER BARRENNESS

MEMORISE: And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life. 2 Kings 4:17

READ: Genesis 18:9 -14

9 And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.

10 And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.

11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.

12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?

13 And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?

14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

MESSAGE

In Genesis 18:9-14, God told Abraham that Sarah would have a son within a year, but she laughed, thinking it was impossible because she was too old and had been barren for so long. Even though the promise of child birth seemed completely impossible, Sarah was carrying her baby nine months later.

It doesn’t matter for how long you have been barren, you will be carrying your babies this time next year in Jesus name. Many women in The Redeemed Christian Church of God have given birth long after menopause. This shows that nothing is impossible with the God I serve.

No matter how long someone’s case of barrenness is, He is able to turn it around. There was a woman who the doctor said had no womb. The husbands relatives also told him to stop disturbing himself because they had removed his wifes womb spiritually. The couple attended one of our programmes one day and God said I should tell the people that He would give babies to someone in the congregation who had no womb.

That month, she became pregnant. Her husband took her abroad to deliver the baby and told the doctors to conduct a Caesarean Section so as to avoid complications. After delivery, the doctor searched but didn’t see any womb. My Daddy showed the whole world that He can bring something out of nothing.

If He could do it for that couple, yours will not be difficult for Him. In 2 Kings 4:8-17, the Bible tells us that when Elisha told the Shunamite woman that she would have a son, she said, Man of God, do not deceive me. In other words, she told him not to lie to her.

The devil wants you to feel that God can be a liar. God will prove Himself to you that He doesn’t lie. In 1 Samuel 1:1-6, the Bible calls Peninnah an adversary; she constantly mocked Hannah about her barrenness. When the Almighty God moved in, she was silenced.

Anyone who is already mocking you now will soon come and rejoice with you, in Jesus name. Barrenness can make a person lose the desire to stay alive. In Genesis 30:1-2, Rachel said to her husband, Give me a son or I die.

The good news for you is that fruitlessness of all kinds financial, academic, physical, and spiritual will become a thing of the past in your life, in Jesus name.

KEY POINT

In which area of your life are you trusting God for fruitfulness? Pray to Him about it now. He will hear you, in Jesus name.

HYMN 21: STANDING ON THE PROMISES OF GOD

1 Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

2 Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

3 Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

4 Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

5 Standing on the promises I shall not fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call.
Resting in my Savior as my All in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL THURSDAY 10 NOVEMBER 2022 DIVINE VICTORY OVER MENTAL SICKNESS

MEMORISE: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5

BIBLE READING: MARK 5:1-20

1. And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

2. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

3. Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

4. Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

5. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

6. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

7. And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

8. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

9. And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

10. And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

11. Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

12. And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

13. And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

14. And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.

15. And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

16. And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.

17, And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

18. And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.

19. Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

20. And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

MESSAGE

Mental sickness is not limited to madness. It can also mean that a person has challenges with their thinking faculty. Some students have brilliant minds, but they blank out in the examination hall. If you have any problem with your memory, God is able to deliver you. The devil wants you to be a fool because he knows the Bible says in Psalms 14:1
“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.”

The devil knows that it is written in Proverbs 13:20
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

He wants you to live like a fool so you can be destroyed, but God is putting an end to all his attacks against you now, in Jesus name. Also, the devil wants you to be a fool because he knows the Bible says in Proverbs 3:35

“The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.”

James 1:5 says:
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

If you are not as clever as you ought to be, or have been failing examinations, the Almighty God will lay His hands upon you now and give you victory in the mental realm, in Jesus name.

The mad man of Gadara could not think straight because he was possessed by demons. However, as soon as the Master spoke a word, those demons left him and he started to think and talk normally (Mark 5:1-20). If the Almighty God could deliver a man who was mad, how much more would He be able to restore you to sound mental health? That same God will heal you wherever you need help mentally right now, in the mighty name of Jesus.

KEY POINT

Do you need help in the mental realm? Lay your right hand on your head and ask the Lord to touch and heal you now in Jesus name.

BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR: JOHN 8:1-59, JOHN 9:1-41

HYMN 16 : CONQUERORS AND OVERCOMERS NOW ARE WE

1. Conquerors and overcomers now are we,
Thro’ the precious blood of Christ we’ve victory
If the Lord be for us, we can never fail,
Nothing ‘gainst His mighty pow’r can e’er prevail.

REFRAIN:
Conquerors are we, thro’ the blood of Jesus
God will give us victory, thro’ the blood of Jesus
Thro’ the Lamb for sinners slain,
Yet who lives and reigns again,
More than conquerors are we,
More than conquerors are we.

2. In the name of Israel’s God we’ll onward press,
Overcoming sin and all unrighteousness;
Not to us, but unto Him the praise shall be,
For salvation and for blood-bought victory.

3. Unto him that overcometh shall be giv’n,
Here to eat of hidden manna sent from heav’n,
Over yonder he the victor’s palm shall bear,
And a robe of white, and golden crown shall wear.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 9TH 2022 DIVINE VICTORY OVER PHYSICAL SICKNESS

MEMORISE: But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. Job 1:11

READ: Job 1:9 -12

9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

MESSAGE

The principal aim of Satan in attacking you physically is to cause you to deny God.

And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.
Job 2:4-5

Satan wants to make you sick so that you can complain against God and turn your back on Him. He knows if you can turn your back on God, then you will not get all that He has for you in Him. I pray that God will put Satan to shame in your life in Jesus’ name.

In 2 Kings 5:1-14, we see that Satan afflicts people physically to discredit every other thing they might have achieved. Naaman was successful in everything, yet he had an incurable disease that put a ‘but’ on his achievements. In Mark 5:25-34, Satan attacked the woman with the issue of blood so as to waste her resources and reduce her to nothing. Just as God stepped in for Naaman and the woman with the issue of blood, He is going to step in for you now in the name of Jesus Christ.

The story in Mark 2:1-12 tells us about a young man carried by four friends. The devil wants you to be carried from one place to another, but because you are connected to God, you will cease to be a burden to others, in Jesus’ name.

The devil also attacks people physically so that he may tie them down to a spot. In John 5:2-9, there were many sick people waiting for the moving of the pool of Bethesda. They could not move around freely because of the ailments in their bodies. The devil cannot tie you down because he has lost his hold on you. Jesus promised His followers victory over sickness when He defeated the devil. 1 John 3:8 says “…For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

Sickness is the work of the devil. I pray for you that Jesus will raise you up from your bed of sickness now, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINT

Heavenly Father, I receive healing for my body now, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN 12: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE

1 My faith looks up to thee,
thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine.
Now hear me while I pray;
take all my guilt away;
O let me from this day
be wholly thine!

2 May thy rich grace impart
strength to my fainting heart;
my zeal inspire!
As thou hast died for me,
oh, may my love to thee
pure, warm, and changeless be,
a living fire!

3 While life’s dark maze I tread,
and griefs around me spread,
be thou my guide.
Bid darkness turn to day,
wipe sorrow’s tears away,
nor let me ever stray
from thee aside.

4 When ends life’s transient dream,
when death’s cold, sullen stream
shall o’er me roll,
blest Savior, then, in love,
fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above,
a ransomed soul!
